Food sounds awesome right about now!

I'm headed back to the perch myself...gonna rustle something up and welcome Shabbat!
Hope it's yummy! Remind me what Shabbat is. It's been so long that I visited Jewish customs. What kind of food would you have?

Shabbat is Friday evening to Saturday evening, aka, the seventh day.

A day where I get to focus up a bit more, you know, like rein it all in and redirect it to things higher than the weekly grind.

I'm not sure what I'll eat...I have to look at what I got and just let it flow.

What kind of simple meal are you making?

Given your love of jazz, I envision you playing the saxophone. :)
Thanks, bèlla. That's a good point. Friends and family have said similar things. The feedback from everyone has been encouraging.

Guitar and keyboard became main instruments as an adult, and I still occasionally play the trombone like I did in school, but I've always wanted to try the saxophone. Learning the basics will take time, and the sounds I make will probably sound like an injured goose at first, but I've always found that music benefits other parts of my life. It's a great hobby.

My new sax is scheduled to arrive early next week.

:sohappy:

I love flutes!

Of the Zauber variety especially...!
Zauber... magic flute?

The flute is a surprisingly versatile instrument. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull comes to mind.

You're welcome. Glad I could chime in. :)

Congrats! The alto sax is nice. I played it the alto clarinet for a bit before switching to the clarinet. I know you'll enjoy it! And you'll do fine.

You're very gifted musically. Oftentimes it goes beyond one discipline. I like the piano and violin. The harp is tempting but I don't think I'll have time. I sing too and that's my passion.

Ahhh, I feel silly I can't believe that I forgot about Shabbat.

My simple meal was grass-fed beef with taco seasoning and I did some bell pepper and iceberg lettuce with spinach and a large bowl and French dressing. Nothing fancy.

That was a feast compared to what I had...ha ha.

I feel like my inner being is being wrung out, like a soaked towel that was used to clean up spilled battery acid... or something...

But, I've already committed to one new thing. Whatever I feel and whatever I face...I'm gonna do it sober...and just let it do whatever it is that these things do.

Because, I can't go back to that grayscale place.

It's mine. Someone informed me that you were trying to do a play on words. Is that correct? And if so where does the saying come from?

From this poem:

For Whom the Bell Tolls
by
John Donne

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by John Donne - Your Daily Poem

I believe that is the short version.

Sorry, sometimes I am too cryptic.

Yah bless you sister.

*The bell tolling would sound the passing of someone.

Need to get out and assess the damage that was done last night. It looks like one of my trees may have fell and I need to be sure it's not too much in the neighbor's yard.

Shame (I learned last night that the South African's say this).

I hope that there was not much damage.

Shalom.

Praise God that one of the trees fell right at the fence line so just a branch needs to be cut up. and the other tree fell into a neighbor's yard where there's not a fence and they aren't living there right now. Got some work cut out but I will be getting help from my parents on another non-slushy day.

Plenty of branches to pick up. I can't even imagine some of the damage to other people's yards and if trees fell on houses. And still people without electricity.

I had a wonderful conversation with mum yesterday. It reinforced the importance of family and the blessings they provide for a couple. We're a tight knit group and faith is a mainstay. They're all believers. They've stood with me in prayer for others and those I've dated in the past. Their counsel is invaluable.

I asked her how she'd feel about being a grandmother again. She was excited and told me she'd move in to care for the little one. More overseer than hands on. Her joy was a testament of belief and growth. If God wants it, she's on board.

The benefit of loved ones is frequently overlooked. Marrying into a family of mature believers is a blessing. You're gaining advocates in life and prayer. Having the same with each is priceless.

The conversations I've been having with a few guys, one brand new and others I have known for a little while from online dating, have been insightful. As they ask me my opinions about certain topics and their past experiences, I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to understanding what's going to work in a relationship for me. But at the same time I don't want to list because God is shaping me and I have to be continually open to what God's going to teach me and if I am to marry how he would mold us both together.

So grateful for these brothers in Christ that have a strong faith, provide some good insight, and I am also able to return the favor.
