  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thanks Gurney for having the greatest wrestler ever as your thumbnail, don't really watch it no more, it too lame now, but as a kid Flair promos use to make me laugh. Whoooo!

Oh my goodness .... this stuff just reminds me of how embarrassed I was the first time I saw wrestling on TV. I used to argue that it wasn't fake - because Grizzly Smith was a friend and used to take us to the non-televised matches on Friday nights, which most of the wrestlers just did real wrestling there. Very little showing off and all this silliness. Though Ric Flair used to dabble in it a little, and for that reason he was always one of my least favorites back then.

When I started to see all the "feuds" and ridiculous stuff on the little "interview" commercials like that I was SO embarrassed for them, and for me for having defended it when I saw only the mostly non-public side of things.

But those were fun days, in a way.

Thanks brother that takes me back, we didn't have TBS as a kid, so I had to go to one of my friend house to watch wrestling. Good memories.

I'm really pumped about it! I'm waiting until the crowds die down a bit. The first movie was awesome, and I REALLY liked Winter Soldier! The Cap movies have been the best so far. Thor 2 stunk to high heaven, and Iron Man 2 was weaker with Iron Man 3 being insulting. Avengers was ok, Avengers 2 stunk.

I have heard great things about Civil War.

I still haven't gone to see Supes vs. Bats. I just heard too many negative to mediocre things plus it's supposed to be really un-friendly to kids.

So haven't any of you mugs gone to see Capt America Civil War yet?

Gotta just say this....(this might turn out as popular as the gurney not liking black hoe-down music in the other thread! LOL)....

Andre didn't hardly have any wrestling moves. He was a giant hulking lug. Great guy with a heart of gold, but not a wrestler in many ways. Chops.....tied up in ropes....head-butts, grabbed you and slammed you. Not much else.

I'm more of a Brett Hart fan, a guy with tons of moves and skilz! My guilty pleasure was Ultimate Warrior and Flair! LOL

One story I heard one time that busted me up....

This young, new wrestler in WWE came up to Ric Flair and said, "Oh, man, Nature Boy, you were and are my hero since I was a little kid! Seriously! You're a living legend! I hope you respect some of the homage I give you with my gimmick, and give your blessing to some of my copycatting you."

Ric said, "absolutely, 100%. You have my blessing, kid! I've been following your career lately. Exciting stuff!"

The wrestler says, "I am kind of nervous to ask you, but, would you mind if I borrowed your famous figure-4 leg lock? It was your signature!"

Ric Flair didn't miss a beat--"Kid, you can HAVE that move! If you paid attention, I used that move for 40 years and not ONCE did I win with it!" LOL

It's true! If you follow Flair's career, he constantly did the figure-4, the opponent either got out of it, reversed it on Ric, or flipped him over with it. It was supposed to be his death move, but nobody ever once submitted or lost to it! LOL

*blows a raspberry at guerney*v moves? He didn't need no moves! He was The Giant!!
