Similarities between Christian beliefs and Laws of Attraction

I thought it was interesting how there were parallels in these:

Christianity
God answers prayers

The Laws of Attraction
The Universe responds to requests

Only think positive thoughts about your request, because negative thinking attracts negative results. Imagine it, as though you already have what you wish.

Jas 1:7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;
Jas 1:8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

The Laws of Attraction
In order to receive a desire, you have to vibrate that desire. But if you start being pessimistic about it and you vibrate “I will probably never get it”, then that’s a different vibration. And the two are opposing each other. The universe can’t send you your request if you vibrate two opposing things.

Your desire (what you are asking for) has to line up with your belief (you need to believe that you will receive it). Otherwise it won’t come to you.

The Laws of Attraction
Think positive things only about your health, life, and you will end up with a good life. (Because negative thoughts draw negative things to your life.)

Praying for people and things as a group makes it happen. Praying for a person’s wellbeing helps the person


The Laws of Attraction
Collective meditating or focusing thoughts on some people or subject makes things happen
Thinking positive well being and well wishing thoughts about a person helps the person

Key difference: the "Laws of Attraction" is magick. Christian prayer is submitting ourselves and subordinating our will to the divine will of God. Christian prayer is not magick, we aren't manipulating the universe or God to get what we want; we are praying, "Thy will be done," in good faith that God is concerned with us and whatever may be is within God's good will and purposes--even if we find ourselves alone, hungry, thirsty, cold, naked and/or in prison.

"And he said, 'Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.'" - Job 1:21

I'm not sure about the miracles in the NT should be understood as God answering prayers but instead the power of faith, that would be something akin to Thelema.

Exactly. The laws of attraction don't parallel with the will of God. Prayer is not about what we want either...

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures."
(James 4:3)

A polytheistic univerise, such as existed for pharoah, is ruled by gods who are basically indifferent to man, but can be bought off with the correct rite or sacrifice.
Nature gods don't have any feelings for us, whether we love nature or not is of no importance, but it is all about snoke and mirrors, where creating favorable conditions here on earth through the proper rite will attract similar kind of events on the plane that the gods have powers in.. Do a little rain dance, create thunder with the pounding of your feet until the sweat pours off, and the heavens will respond in kind.

Morality is not required.

With God, prayer is a way of establishing a relationship of love with our Creator. When we love someone it becomes all about them, all about finding out what they want, and what pleases them, and giving it to them for their happiness is our happiness.
It is a mutual relationship, by definition. It introduces morality into the picture, for to love someone is to make sure that we do them no harm.

That's why I stopped asking God for anything. The point of praying for anything is a waste of breath and time, since God is just gonna do what he wants anyway. Who are WE, O men, to command Almighty God? We are but dirt and filth.

East is East and West is West and never the twain shall meet.

The Secret is monist. Christianity is monotheist. Nothing could be more antithetical than these two.

Monism assumes that we are one. Monotheism assumes God is wholly other.

The Secret makes us gods. Jesus said no one can even know God unless He (Jesus) reveals Him to them.

That the Secret seems to be saying similar things as the Bible is a testimony to how much we in the West have become inveterate syncretists. If they seem similar it is because our senses have been distorted by the world, the flesh and the devil's vogue.
