  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This seems small in the grand scheme of things but:

In downtown traffic yesterday, I attempted an evasive maneuver around an obstacle on my bicycle, overextended myself and took quite the tumble. I went over the handlebars landing on my head and shoulder, hard in the middle of a street.
A couple of friendly folk quickly dragged me out of harms way and onto the sidewalk to regain my wits.

I have some pretty large areas of road rash on my shoulder and arm. My helmet took the brunt of the head to pavement impact, so no injury there but the helmet will need to be replaced. The bike is fine.
I'm still hurting (arms, shoulders, ribcage) and really stiff today.
Aspirin and Acetaminophen have kept me functioning today.. but I didn't sleep much last night.

I'm confident I'll recoup BUT it'll take a couple of days at my age (unlike when I was 12).

I'm on my way to Orthodoxy. I went to my first Liturgy ever last Sunday. It was beautiful and the Holy Spirit was very stong there. Since then I've had to battle with THE WORST despair I've ever been through. It has lifted after much prayer and reading St. John of Krondtstant (sp?). Please pray for strength and wise choices. TIA

Prayers - also for both.

After leaving Church this morning, I saw a funeral procession go past. I was reminded of those families in Texas, some of whom were probably planning family vacations, graduations, things like that ... with no idea that today or perhaps tomorrow, etc. would be taken up with their child's funeral instead.

It's heartbreaking.
