CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all!
Now the family couldn't find the cat at the dacha and had to leave without the cat. They left food on the porch.
On top of that, my mother moved over a month ago and has not been heard from since. I'm back in depression land, I do the Jesus prayer and others, but I'm still feeling squeezed pretty hard.
There are plenty of little things, but those are the big ones at the moment.

She moved four or five weeks ago to Modesto, CA, and no one in my family has heard from her since. She's remarried to a slightly younger man, with an adopted severely handicapped young man from Mexico. No phone, no electronic comms. Two weeks is normal three is tolerable. But four is strange and five is downright worrying. I last spoke to her in early August, and I am more in contact with her than any of my siblings in NY.. Until now.
Hoping to hear soon that it was just a series of problems and delays...

It seems that all I had to do was ask!
I spoke to her an hour ago. All is well. She actually had a phone number last week, and contacted one brother who... didn't contact anyone else. It took my sister calling around the family to discover this.
One of the great, salvific, and yet sad things is around my mother remarrying and adopting a baby with spina bifida from Mexico. Great and salvific - it is a heroic thing she has done for the past twenty years. But sad, too - it has made it next to impossible for her to travel to visit us and be involved with her own grandchildren.
It seems that all I had to do was ask!

Tomorrow, 3rd of October, is my last state exam (Civil law). If I pass first phase, I will be scheduled for a face-to-face examination somewhere between 6th, 7th or 8th October next week. If anyone has the time, please pray for me.

I'm okay for what it's worth; we've just had a little flooding in the backyard, a flooded basement and a tree down in the backyard. However, about 150 bridges across the state have washed out, as well as over 300 roads. This is going to take a long time to clean up!
