AHHH!...the old "I'm going to spray this stuff in the grass and if it just happens to hit you (because spray stuff tends to, you know, spray) it's not my fault. I was just trying to keep the grass from blocking traffic!" excuse. I haven't seen that one since this episode of the Simpsons:
tulc(just a thought)
if all the protestors were children would pepper spray be warranted? How many children are an acceptable amount or did the Police find the golden ratio? How should the police handled the situation when some idiot of a parent brings their little girl to a protest knowing it could turn violent? Perhaps the police should have relocated the child to a safe environment (like the foster care system).
So if you jaywalk, cops have the right to pepper spray you? After all, you’re breaking the law and blocking a street.I find that protesters who don't block roads tend not to get pepper sprayed.
I know some parents who took their children to BLM protests in WV so they could see people protesting for their rights. Of course, all of our protests were peaceful. We never had any police do what these pigs did.It sounds to me like the real villain in this whole situation is poor parenting that thought it was a good idea to take their 5 year old daughter to a BLM protest. Unless police brutality is no longer a concern for the Black community and they now feel the police nolonger pose a threat to a 5 year old girl. This is on par with ANTIFA protesters bringing their kids to an anti-trump rally.
probably not a fair comparison. if an unruly crowd (some with children) jaywalked then...So if you jaywalk, cops have the right to pepper spray you? After all, you’re breaking the law and blocking a street.
I see. It is OK when you do it, wrong when they do it.probably not a fair comparison. if an unruly crowd (some with children) jaywalked then...
Don’t resist police? I guess the protestors just should have turned around and walked away on Bloody Sunday at Selma, never mind the fact that the cops were totally in the wrong. I would love to meet one of those cops someday, just so I could call him a pig to his face. And for the record, I’m a former ADA. I support the police except when they exceed their authority. When they do that they are pigs. I’ve know of cases that had to be thrown out because the cops exceeded their authority. This is praiseworthy parenting. Teach the children not to resist police while they are young.
It really wouldnt surprise me if some of the parents deliberately took their kids to the front where the police were spraying the pepper spray to get the headline. It sounds to me like the real villain in this whole situation is poor parenting that thought it was a good idea to take their 5 year old daughter to a BLM protest. Unless police brutality is no longer a concern for the Black community and they now feel the police nolonger pose a threat to a 5 year old girl. This is on par with ANTIFA protesters bringing their kids to an anti-trump rally.
Police officer: "But police chief, the protests are now turning into a violent riot! Stores are being looted! People are being killed!"if all the protestors were children would pepper spray be warranted? How many children are an acceptable amount or did the Police find the golden ratio?
Then it seems as though police brutality isn't as much of a problem as people are saying. What rights are being protested over?I know some parents who took their children to BLM protests in WV so they could see people protesting for their rights. Of course, all of our protests were peaceful. We never had any police do what these pigs did.
Ding ding ding! Like I said, ISIS tactics. It really wouldnt surprise me if some of the parents deliberately took their kids to the front where the police were spraying the pepper spray to get the headline.
If you read the OP you know this was to encourage people to vote. Then it seems as though police brutality isn't as much of a problem as people are saying. What rights are being protested over?
Proof of that please. Evidence?Ding ding ding! Like I said, ISIS tactics.
This is so sad to see. Its bad enough the system has been hard on many of these people but the media is exploiting them getting them in the street protesting. They're pumping so much anger and emotion into them like that woman screaming at one point thats its just a peaceful protest. I feel so bad for them, then you got BLM using them, manipulating them, and pumping anger into them as well (anger and fear i should say). The parents are so lost that they teach the kids to hate police and hate TrumpPolice tell you to move, you move. And I would never take a small child to ANY political march or rally right now, no matter what party you're supporting. There's way too much tension and people are on edge and raring for fights.
"In a statement released Saturday evening, Graham police said Drumwright and the marchers hadn’t followed proper procedures for holding the event. The department said that it warned the group that it would not be allowed to close the road, said Daniel Sisk, a public information officer for the Graham police.
The department defended its use of pepper spraying, by saying, “[T]he assembly reached a level of conduct that led to the rally being deemed unsafe and unlawful by unified command.”'
The organizer claims this was a "non-partisan" event, but then follows it up with comments like these:
'“They should not be doing this to fellow Americans. Black lives matter,” he said in a video posted on Twitter. “All lives won’t matter until we stop this, and I mean it. I urge my Republican opponent Ted Budd to finally stand up to this white supremacist, stand up to these neo-Nazis, and stand for America, not those people. This is wrong. This is wrong. I’m just watching what’s happening right now and it’s wrong.”'
We all know that there's one party who favors throwing around these terms and allegations. This was not non-partisan at all.
Watching the video here, pepper spray wasn't deployed until AFTER people in the crowd 1) refused to follow police orders and 2) at least one man started physically tussling with an officer.

Apparently, they were given several warnings over the span of five minutes to disperse, and ignored it.
Multiple marchers arrested, pepper sprayed in Graham at march for voting rights and justice
"Graham PD said that officers gave a five-minute warning on an order to disperse and then gave three subsequent warnings, which prompted them to use pepper spray when people did not disperse after the final warning."
"“Mr. Drumwright chose not to abide by the agreed upon rules. As a result, after violations of the permit, along with disorderly conduct by participants leading to arrests, the protest was deemed an unlawful assembly and participants were asked to leave. Mr. Drumwright and participants refused to leave,” a statement released by the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office said."
Shon Green one of the speakers at the march, wanted to empower young voters to cast their ballots.
"Empower"? What's stopping them from registering to vote, going to the poll, and voting?
Nothing.
"I was feeling the strength of my ancestors and letting me know you're fine. Like don't stand down, don't step down to this," Green said.
Mr. Drumwright appears to be a self-named "pastor". I don't see anything on his website to indicate he's a properly educated or ordained pastor of anything. This reads more like the resume of a wannabe celebrity. https://www.gregdrumwright.com
Looks like some people are calling this for what it is. A "racial justice" march. As evidenced by all the Black Lives Matter shirts and masks.
So, let's call this what it is. A wannabe "pastor" gathering a bunch of impressionable, trusting black families together for a BLM-flavored rally with no intention of following the guidelines he agreed to when he obtained the activity permit, or following police orders on scene. Then cue the sob stories about children and old ladies vomiting from pepper spray. And of course, the cops are the meanies for doing their jobs. And probably white people. And Trump.
On the other side of the conflict, i feel really bad for cops too. Cops that work in rough cities respond to probably numerous domestic issues every day so they can be sworn at and spit on. There is definitely a problem with police brutality but you cant stereotype all cops, alot of them risk their lives to protect and serve. They get dangerous people and drugs off the streets, and fight human trafficking. A simple truth that has been lost in all of this is that regardless of race, things would be far worse for everyone if there was no cops
How does marching under the BLM banner encourage anyone to vote? No adult American citizen is prevented from voting (except convicted felons in some states, which I disagree with). Nobody is stopping these people from voting. This was not about voting, it was about pushing the BLM agenda, hence all the BLM shirts, flags, and masks in the crowd. They would have you believe that if a young black person approaches the polls, they're going to be attacked or dissuaded somehow, which is absolute nonsense. This is creating an issue where there is no issue. You can encourage your young people to vote without illegally blocking the street and getting into a scrap with police.
Unfortunately, this kind of propaganda isn't all that odd anymore.
