Yes. It is interesting that the protesters were told they could freely protest so long as they do not block/obstruct traffic. Instead they decided to block traffic while chanting "the streets are ours" while bringing their 8 year old little girl to the situation. That is just great. Where did I see these tactics before? Yes, I remember! In Iraq I saw Isis using women and children as human shields to use their deaths for anti American propaganda.

The police said that they didn't spray a single person at all. And video on CNN shows them spraying it only in the grass.
AHHH!...the old "I'm going to spray this stuff in the grass and if it just happens to hit you (because spray stuff tends to, you know, spray) it's not my fault. I was just trying to keep the grass from blocking traffic!" excuse. I haven't seen that one since this episode of the Simpsons:

Mr. Drumwright appears to be a self-named "pastor". I don't see anything on his website to indicate he's a properly educated or ordained pastor of anything... ...A wannabe "pastor"
Doing a quick Google search I was able to learn that Reverend Drumwright serves as the Senior Minister at the Citadel Church & Campus Ministries in Greensboro, NC and holds a Master of divinity degree from Wake Forest University. He is ordained in both the Baptist and Pentecostal church.

Okay, fine lets say that this story is 100% true and the police are lying.

IF this was TRULY a "march to the polls"....

You know what is worse than a cop that would pepper spray a child?

Someone that would use their child, or ANY child as a pawn KNOWING they are likely to face police opposition. IF they were heading to the polls....... children cant vote...

If cowards hide behind others, only the wicked and despicable hide behind children.

(snip) You know what is worse than a cop that would pepper spray a child? (snip)
...trying to explain to that kid why, in school and on tv, everyone tells them "The police are there to protect you!" but those same police just pepper sprayed them, their mom and dad and maybe a sibling or two, because they apparently didn't cross the street fast enough?
tulc(wonders if that would be worse?)

Id say those that put their children in danger in the first place, knowimg what could happen to them.... is worse because they are hidimg behind that child, no care for the welfare of that child... simply using them as a sheild is disgusting thinking they will be immune from police action.

A parents job should be their childs welfare, not a political statement

The parents put the children there, not the police.

You mean the parents took their kids along while they demonstrated to show them that Americans have the right to protest against things they don't agree with? And then the police pepper sprayed them? And their parents. And their brothers and sisters. So...the lesson they learned was: "Cops can pepper spray you if you don't get across the street as fast as they'd like you too."? So much for "The police are there to help if there's a problem." Instead they learned a more realistic lesson: "The police are there to pepper spray you if they decide that it's okay to do so."
tulc(guesses it's never too early for kids to learn that lesson) :sigh:

The parents took their children to what was supposed to be a peaceful protest. It was the cops who sprayed pepper spray just because they were blocking a street.

Kinda like how the .50 cal BMG is considered by NATO to be used only for anti-material purposes. So snipers aim for the shirt, not the person.

you mean the 5 yr old girl?
It sounds to me like the real villain in this whole situation is poor parenting that thought it was a good idea to take their 5 year old daughter to a BLM protest. Unless police brutality is no longer a concern for the Black community and they now feel the police nolonger pose a threat to a 5 year old girl. This is on par with ANTIFA protesters bringing their kids to an anti-trump rally.

...But the police were very calm and collective... Like true professionals.
The manner you conduct yourself is part of the professionalism, what the individual is actually doing in their calm and collected state is also quite important. If the suggestions of the article are true and the police were aware of the children present yet still "pepper-sprayed" them (or in their general direction) their calm and collected state would be quite disturbing. If the measure of professionalism is simply being calm and collected we should be applauding many serial killers for their high attention to professionalism. Police need to be better than this, they need to be both calm and collected as well as make good choices while being calm and collected.

How should the police handled the situation when some idiot of a parent brings their little girl to a protest knowing it could turn violent? Perhaps the police should have relocated the child to a safe environment (like the foster care system).
