Trump doesn't want Emmer. Certainly, at least five House members are afraid of the ex-president.GOP lawmaker rails against Emmer as not conservative enough, says "heated discussion" happening in meeting
Looks like we're heading for yet another round of failure.
Members of former President Donald Trump's team are calling House GOP members and urging them to oppose Rep. Tom Emmer for speaker, two sources tell CNN.
One source said they’re “whipping hard.” The other source said more members are now pulling their support because of it.
Trump rebuked Emmer's bid in a social media post on Tuesday, calling the Minnesota Republican a RINO, or a "Republican in Name Only," and said voting for him "would be a tragic mistake!”
I love how in the same sentence he admits to not knowing Emmer well yet still calls him a RINO. Seems kinda contradictory.Trump, apparently, is not a fan of Emmer's bid for Speaker.

Anyone who votes for the certification of Biden's election certainly is not a part of Trump's Party.
It doesn't take a huge number of Republicans to greatly reduce the power of the far right in the House. After any of these ballots, a few Republicans can meet with the Dems and it's all over. If the Gang of 8, or 20 continue their nonsense, perhaps a few Republicans will stand up to Trump. In the end, it only takes FIVE Republicans, presuming that they are willing to oppose Trump, and likely lose their House seats.Until the Republican Party rids itself of Trump and his loyalist, it will continue to face these issues. If the party actually stood for it's historical values, it would have kicked the Trump faction out of the party after Jan 6th. Instead, the Speaker went down to Mar-a-logo. They are reaping what was sown.

Increasingly, this does look like the only way out. At the very least, Republicans are in a lose-lose, since Gaetz and Co more-or-less want a shutdown, even if it'll be an immense level of backlash on the GOP. And any candidate the Freedom Caucus likes will likely willingly drive into a shutdown as well. There must be 5 Republicans in swing districts....?
And Emmer's out.A rep in the room says that "the bulk" of the 26 No votes in the closed door rollcall vote for newly nominated Tom Emmer for Speaker were votes for Jim Jordan.
Jim Jordan can't win, and not-Jim Jordan can't win.
18 in districts won by Biden. There must be 5 Republicans in swing districts....?
It's gonna be hard with new threads too - "Emmeris the nominee for Speaker" was only accurate for about 3 hours or so. At the rate that they're tossing away speaker candidates, we might get through the whole GOP list by the end of the year. Also, this thread title has aged like milk.
And the rest of the world is laughing at this pathetic prune-show.
In Ted's case, it's more like twiggling.I am impressed with Ted's admission on his love for twerking lol. Anything to get reelected I reckon.
