James 1:8-15
8
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
9Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:
10But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.
11For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
I am going to look it up, but didn't Sheba promise God that she would return to her country and preach about Him instead of the other gods she had worshiped? She did this as a promise to God if He would save Solomon, right, and even tho she was with child, because of her and Solomon's fornication?
If this is true doesn't it go against those who say God would never want people that really love each other to be apart. If hetrosexuals were separated, even when a child was involved, and they really loved each other why wouldn't he ask homosexuals? The same would go for celibacy, because now that Sheba had left her gods, and became a child of God, the fornication would stop also, hopefully. Besides the fact that her true love was Solomon and they would be in two different countries.
This story would also go against it being ok to say that there is only one way to God, since when Sheba and her people were worshiping their god, and I believe Solomon was with them, the Lord sent lightning and maybe an earthquake......... I am going to have to go back and study this again to be sure of some of these facts.
If my memory of this is as stated above, it would go against some of the thinking of people who believe that if two people really love each other than pre-marital sex, adultery, homosexuality, fornication, etc. is ok. If they really love each other and since God is a God of love, He wouldn't think it wrong.
I keep thinking maybe we should define the different types of love in the Bible. We should see if the word tells us that God's love is the same as sexual love, because I don't think when He said to love your neighbor as yourself, that he was meaning sexual love to our neighbors or ourselves.
I just can't see how someone can make the love from God, which is in us when we become His children, become a physical/sexual love. I am not wording this right, but plainly it is 2 different types of love. One doesn't make the other one always right.
I am going to have to do some thinking on how to word this where my meaning is better understood, but I will leave what I have tried to say above. Just in case some can understand what it is I am trying to say, even tho not doing a real good job.
