. . .As for the woman taken in adultery, it simply amazes me how hard it is for some people to be able to quote ten words spoken by our Lord. What he said was, "Neither do I condemn you. Go, and sin no more." I really seriously doubt that what He meant by that is, "...but it's OK if My followers condemn you instead."

Several things wrong with this. First nobody here is throwing stones, they are all saying the same thing Jesus did, "Go and sin no more." While those here are saying, "It is not sin, the Bible does not condemn a loving, monogamous relationship."

. . .Jesus seems to have taken a fairly compassionate and forgiving view towards sexual sin, which was common and condemned then as it is now. What really seems to have irked Him was people using the Law to judge the sins of others, as the Pharisees were fond of doing, while excusing their own behavior. I strongly doubt He's any too happy that people today are using the Bible as the same sort of lawbook-for-sins and condemning others for their supposed sins while ignoring their own sin in doing so.

How about people who quote platitudes to accuse other people of, "excusing their own behavior" and "ignoring their own sin?"

Confession in front of the Church (public confession) is what I am referring to. And yes, I agree everyday is good too including daily prayer. But hey, I am not perfect, sometimes I am lazy, etc, etc.

Good for you for confessing everyday!
Arent your sins between you and God though??

Sorry just curious...
Ive never publicly confessed infront of the Church (not something our Church does) and not something I would yet I do know others who attend other Churches who have been made to confess infront of their whole congregation for something they have done such as getting pg out of wedlock.

PS...its not that I confess everyday...its a relationship...we talk(I seek guidance)...whether one wants to consider that repentence or not is up to them...:)

I differ in my opinion on your twisted "proof"

You don't really want to know how I regard your "opinion." Now all you have to do is actually read my sources, and if you think I have "twisted" anything, quote it, in context, and show how it has been "twisted."

Neither you nor anyone else has ever made any legitimate effort to read and reply to my historical citations. This post is illustrative of your efforts, so far, one sentence which addresses nothing, specifically.

really?
See I was taught that Jesus died for us(loved us so much that Jesus died for us)...not because of us...:)

Yes He died for us, because of our sin, and by His stripes we are healed. Jesus also died becasue of us: humanity put Him on the cross, and we are no better.

Rob,

I agree that we confess and ask for forgiveness but maybe its not in the same way as each other...
I beleive that atheists in some way even confess as they feel repentent about something they have done...
God see's the heart
(Now Im a different Christian than you in the sense I dont believe in a literal hell...I do believe in a hell just not a literal hell that God sends us too nor do I take the Bible literally).
I also agree that no one should attack anyone's faith in Christ...
I believe that we are connected through Christ...that is what connects us as Christians...our faith in Christ...our belief and acceptance of Christ...

Peace :)

United4Peace,
I believe John was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write revelation. But I will respect your beliefs about that book.

I also believe Christians shouldn't attack one another's beliefs over their faith in Christ, but I believe in exhorting and ministrying to one another. I believe in the Holy Spirit and how it communicates itself to other Christians through other Christians. Have you ever gone to church and had a pastor preach a sermon to you that seemed to go directly to your heart and apply personally to you without him even knowing it?

Atheists do not even believe in God or Jesus or live by Faith in Christ. The gospel is foolish to them.

I'd really like this whole forum to go away. It is destructive to both sides. Our side of the debate has seen a young woman corrupted to gay sex by the pandering from older homosexuals.
t think some people should stop treating others like children who are not able to make decisions for themselves and get "corrupted". we have to assume that people are able to listen, consider and make decision because if we don't western civilization, democracy and freedom make no sense anymore.
no more commercials, political debate, advice column, tv shows that are not martha stuart's, no more nothing actually since everything, if you see it that way, can "corrupt" someone into something.
if we accept you're point of view people should not communicate with each other in any way anymore, humanity as we know it would not exist, probably it wouldn't exist at all.

See Ive learned that evil put Christ on the Cross and that Christ died for humanity...
John 3:16
Everyone knows that verse eh...
God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son...

not God was ticked off at everyone so Jesus had to die because we put him there...
No...I didnt put him there...

Yes, both are true. The crucification is somewhat of a mystery where God trumped satan's hand in 1st Cor Chapter 2:
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
perfect Eph 4:13
wisdom James 3:15

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
hidden Psalms 8:2, Matt 11:25, 1st Cor 1:27, 2nd Cor 3:14
before Romans 16:25, 2nd Tim 1:9

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

knew Acts 13:27

The princes of this world crucified Jesus and God's grace was consumated. God gave His only begotten son but evil people did the work, which God made good. If they had known it they would not have crucified Jesus. They played into God's hand.

not God was ticked off at everyone so Jesus had to die because we put him there...

God the Father was really ticked off with sin and He turned Jesus into sin on the cross:
2 Corinthians 5:21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

It pleased God to bruise His son after He was turned into sin:
Isaiah 53:10Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

No...I didnt put him there...
Jesus loved us so much God gave us Christ and in Christ we are free...:)

I put Him there. I hold myself accountable.

I should have died on that cross instead of Jesus. Praise the Lord for sending his only Begotten Son to die in my place for my curse in this cursed world.
Wow...cursed world?

I see the world as beautiful...as its God's creation...:sorry:

The World: I was referring to the sinners that live in it. Jesus Christ breaks this curse by giving us eternal life and forgiveness of our sins. Unless we break this curse, we are dead (spiritually).
Jesus did that when he died!!
Jesus set us free....

Jesus set us free....

He set us free by Faith in Him and from his death and resurrection, and for the forgiveness of our sins by repenting, and accepting him into our lives and by loving him as he loved us.
