What makes Kelly Curtis pseudo-significant in this respect is that an American black person is opening a door into a different winter sport, which is an entirely separate topic. You don't see black people from anywhere participating in the winter Olympics to the extent that we do in the summer Olympics. But IMO opinion, that's a matter of culture (base ethnic culture often being influenced by the location in that culture developed, plus adoption of the culture of one's current location) rather than any general genetic capability.
