Faith in what?
I'm out of here, catch you next year sometime Lord willing
I am glad that you agree. But surely you can see there are many who are confident that a Heaven will be theirs with no concern that disobedience still rules the roost.Of course it should concern us. We should be living right. But not so we can achieve some level of acceptance. If you have to do something, that’s law, not gospel.
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?
3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? - Galatians 3:2-3
The answer to the rhetorical question is that we received the Spirit by faith. And we aren’t being perfected by the flesh.
*So,you are saying that you need to do something, namely, have the correct view of the gospel?
Then you don’t understand the gospel.
Christ.Faith in what?
It does save us from the need to be obedient to stay saved. I will always speak out against that. That puts a yoke on people that isn’t necessary, and certainly isn’t the gospel. That’s why I started this thread. If you can’t see that God takes pleasure in you, then you don’t know what it’s like to be His child.I am glad that you agree. But surely you can see there are many who are confident that a Heaven will be theirs with no concern that disobedience still rules the roost.
What concerns me is that many such as you who do believe obedience should follow our walk with the Lord are silent when the subject comes up, and try to say that grace saves us from the need for obedience to follow our conversion.
Blessings,
Gideon
I didn’t say that. So, he is not saved, because he doesn't understand the gospel?
Christ.
Mkay. Now you know why I said the Gospel is cover to cover...alef to tav...Genesis to Revelation...Torah to Torah.
He is pleased by Our Faith. If everything we do is done in Faith, it will be done in Love and everything else that flows from that at any given situation pleases Father.
I'm not sure How I Feel about this question. But I will just say that if we always walk in Faith then yes He is pleased with us. I've personally experienced many times when Father was displeased with things I did or the manner in which I have behaved. He is always the though to correct and guide me and put me back on the right path.
It may seem simple to you because you miss the point. Obedience is indicative of our love of Christ. It’s not imperative in order to stay saved.
But Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:22 that if anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. I do not see how an accursed person is saved.
God's pleasure with us is within a redeemed state. If we are recipients of grace through Jesus Christ the things we do to give honour to God are pleasurable in his sight. Outside of grace, however, everything is tainted with sin and inside of grace, everything is washed so the things we do can be pleasurable to God but the same things with the same sincerity may also not be pleasurable.True or False
God’s pleasure with us is not based on our performance.
Any Christian is not immune to being cursed. It's quite a deep subject but I believe Saul would be a perfect example of being cursed as one of Gods people. Any Christian that changes the word of God deliberately and willfully will be cursed for the remainder of His life on Earth. But Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:22 that if anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. I do not see how an accursed person is saved.
True or False
God’s pleasure with us is not based on our performance.
He expects us to make mistakes?? Brother, we are told He considers it our reasonable service to present our bodies as loving sacrifices, to not be conformed to the ways of the wolrd but to be transformed into His image by abiding in Him.
There is no question He loves us, but pleased with us while we dally in sin and worldliness while our hearts are lukewarm to Him? While our love for ourselves firmly outweighs our love for Him? While obedience to Him takes a second seat to pleasing ourselves? The devil has sown this lie in our midst and multitudes are eating it up.
Was God pleased with rhe servant who made no gain? Was the master pleased when His own were to busy with things of this life to prepare themselves to meet their Lord? I think we both know that answer. In both cases, He was wroth. As a matter of fact, in Luke 17, after He had taken away that which He had given to the unprofitable servant, He said these profound and sobering words:
"Then bring all those who would not have me to reign over them, and slay them before me." Ouch.
It is one thing if we are truly trying to walk as children of God and to see sin defeated in our lives and to put off our old carnal nature. But to those who have no desire to flee willful sin, He tells us that there remains no sacrifice for sin, but a fearful looking for of judgment.
We have become those spoken of who have itching ears, who want all the goodness God offers without the hating of our own life. Make no mistake, there will be multitudes on the final day shocked to hear the displeasure in God's voice as He tells them to depart from Him.
Look. I get it. Right now, we have been fed a half gospel that tries to convince us that sin is now no big deal..... the same sins that caused Jesus to have to suffer and die for us. No wonder we have wandered so far from the truth.
But praise God forevermore, there is an answer for us, and God is even now beginning to reveal it to His own. But to those who want to have their cake and eat it too, nothing will be revealed.
For the one who truly longs to become fully obedient, yet who finds himself still mired in Romans 7, doing the things he truly hates, God is about to move mountains to awaken such a one as to HOW to walk in holiness and righteousness all the days of His life.
Amazing days are ahead for those who love the light but simply do not yet how to walk in it. But for those who still find great pleasure in darkness and self rule, their deception is about to increase a hundred-fold.
blessings,
Gideon
I’m trying to understand your point here. I’m not saying that it’s okay to not love Christ. But Paul says in 1 Corinthians 16:22 that if anyone does not love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed. I do not see how an accursed person is saved.
Just for clarity, the OP is assuming that participants in the thread are saved.God's pleasure with us is within a redeemed state. If we are recipients of grace through Jesus Christ the things we do to give honour to God are pleasurable in his sight. Outside of grace, however, everything is tainted with sin and inside of grace, everything is washed so the things we do can be pleasurable to God but the same things with the same sincerity may also not be pleasurable.
For example, Muslims pray to God 5 times a day and many do it quite sincerely. This month especially as it is the month of Ramadhan where millions are fasting and seeking God. Millions are trying to be good and showing others goodness all for God. Even if we can say Allah is the same as Yahweh it doesn't matter because all of it burns up and is meaningless; without Christ nothing is worthy. Someone may fast and pray without ceasing until they collapse and die and it still is not worthy, yet in Christ, we may receive the pleasure of God through the simplest of gestures.
