Abraham was called a friend of God and that wasn't law was it?
Jesus said this:Abraham was called a friend of God and that wasn't law was it?
I’m not fussing. I was just curious to see who thinks they need to do something besides believe, and who rests in the finished work of Christ.
Obeying doesn’t make us His friends. That would be law, not gospel.
it takes obedience to be in Christ and God is pleased when men obey Him.If God sees you in Christ, isn’t He pleased?
Obeying the GOSPEL by being water baptized.Got it. So if follow the law (get baptized) then I’m obeying the gospel.
Jesus said this:
“You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.”
Shall we cut that out of our gospel? If we do, we do so at eternal risk.
Blessings,
Gideon
Believing is not mental ascent in agreeing Jesus rose from the dead. It is loving light and hating darkness.
On the final day, Jesus will look past all our works or lack of them, all our words or lack of them, and stare straight into the thoughts and intents of our hearts. That ought to terrify some, but sadly, for most it does not. Ears to hear, they hear not. Eyes to see they see not, for ultimately, it is those who hate their lives and long to lose them who will hear the blessed words “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Blessings,
Gideon
Abraham's faith is found in Torah.
He was justified by faith.Abraham was called a friend of God and that wasn't law was it?
Faith is trusting in Christ. Your definition or understanding isn’t in scripture.Believing is not mental ascent in agreeing Jesus rose from the dead. It is loving light and hating darkness.

Exactly, didn't you say that being a friend of God pertained to the law?He was justified by faith.
You’ve confused an imperative with an indicative.Jesus said this:
“You are my friends if you do whatever I command you.”
Shall we cut that out of our gospel? If we do, we do so at eternal risk.

Gideon
2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? What about my asterisk (*) question...answer?
Then you don’t understand the gospel.it takes obedience to be in Christ and God is pleased when men obey Him.
That doesn’t support your assertion.Obeying the GOSPEL by being water baptized.
2 Thessalonians 1:8
1 Peter 4:17
Romans 10:16

What did you mean by this? Because Jesus says you are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you and Abraham was called a friend of God also.
Obeying is indicative, not imperative. What did you mean by this? Because Jesus says you are my friends if you do whatsoever I command you and Abraham was called a friend of God also.
