Stretched out sounds like God stopped. It doesn't say He is stretching out. Well, that's how I read it.

Zechariah 12:1 (KJV)

Here is the other verb form- in the active participle- which means continuity (akin to the perfect)

Is the line still being stretched?

I'm sure if you spent some time googling the radiation levels and how long they were in the belt you could find out the answer.

A couple of probes have collected data on the Van Allen Belts recently, and aptly called the Van Allen Probes along with the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO). Older missions were Explorer 1, Explorer 3, Explorer 4, Pioneer 3, and Luna 1 and Luna 2. It's pretty well studied. Short answer is that you wouldn't want to camp out in them for weeks, but you can fly through them.

The earth is a sphere. Again, it's simple astronomy that demolishes flat earth and drives a stake through its heart.

Two sets of circumpolar constellations. One in the northern hemisphere. One in the southern hemisphere.

Australia's flag

That's the southern cross. You cannot see that from the continental US.

Alaska's flag

The big dipper, which cannot be seen from Australia.

It is impossible to have two sets of circumpolar constellations on a flat earth, therefore the only logical conclusion is that the truth is that we live on a spherical earth.

As a side, the southern hemisphere's version of Polaris is Sigma Octantis. It's depicted on the flag of Brazil.

I don't necessarily believe it but do find it interesting and did a quick search what the answer was to the constellation issue and found this:

Another phenomenon supposed to prove rotundity, is thought to be the fact that Polaris, or the north polar star sinks to the horizon as the traveler approaches the equator, on passing which it becomes invisible. This is a conclusion fully as premature and illogical as that involved in the several cases already alluded to. It is an ordinary effect of perspective for an object to appear lower and lower as the observer goes farther and farther away from it. Let any one try the experiment of looking at a light-house, church spire, monument, gas lamp, or other elevated object, from a distance of only a few yards, and notice the angle at which it is observed. On going farther away, the angle under which it is seen will diminish, and the object will appear lower and lower as the distance of the observer increases, until, at a certain point, the line of sight to the object, and the apparently uprising surface of the earth upon or over which it stands, will converge to the angle which constitutes the "vanishing point" or the horizon; beyond which it will be invisible.
Shifting Constellations

One thing I do wonder about living on the shores of a Great Lake is why the horizon from left to right when facing the lake, is perfectly flat measured against a level when for the distances involved, there should be a curvature evident.

Only if it is true that the earth is sufficiently small ... for its curvature to be able to be observed at that vantage ...

That can only be stated (as something you believe) as you have no observed proof of this statement. When nasa shows images or recording from their planes or balloons they send up, they use a lens that will curve its images

West Siberian Plain. West Siberian Plain, Russian Zapadno-sibirskaya Ravnina, one of the world's largest regions of continuous flatland, central Russia. It occupies an area of nearly 1,200,000 square miles (3,000,000 square km) between the Ural Mountains in the west and the Yenisey River valley in the east.

My statement is undeniably true ... as the true size of the Earth is not addressed in it, other than as a variable value.

And that has nothing to do with what NASA may, or may not, do ...

That's easy to dismiss. You see, a straight line through the middle of a fisheye lens will appear straight. So easy to check just by looking at it carefully. If someone crops it, that won't be the case in the cropped image, unless it's symmetrically cropped. But if not symmetrically cropped, the distortion would be uneven and easily seen.

So if you have 35,000 bucks, you will be able to in the upcoming future prove to yourself that the Earth is no longer flat (if that is what you oddly believe).

It's a harmless observation, at worst. But 99% accurate.
