Actually, I did earlier mention that I recognize the fact that both sexes cheat, but this thread was about cuckolds.

Perhaps you should ask your questions in the Men's Corner ;)

As for "cuckold"-why do some find that term offensive?

Main Entry: cuck·old
Pronunciation: 'k&-k&ld, -(")kOld
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English cokewold
: a man whose wife is unfaithful
- cuckold transitive verb

Actually, I feel very attacked right now and am responding like someone cornered, so the more you guys keep throwing punches, the more I respond. And I already said in the beginning that I was not out to, nor did I intend to offend anyone, but a few of you keep coming back for more, hurling more attacks.. so who's the badguy here.

I know you didn't mean to offend people originally...

but you did.

And then instead of saying... "okay.. I won't say that anymore"

you started using the word like it was going out of style, and then told everyone who was offended that it was their own deal

What's up with that?

Maybe I'm a hypocrite here, cuase I know I've offended plenty of people on this site, but gesh, if I offend someone, I try to apologize if I was wrong, and whether or not I was wrong, I don't keep on offending them, just for kicks and giggles.

Men who find themselves in such a situation have my pity. Its funny how mad some people get about the word cuckold. The word seems to fit such a despicable deed like a glove, from my perspective. Should we not use the word murder for fear of offending people who do it?

Thank you. Being offended by a word is completely ridiculous.

No it's not, do you go around using the N word?

Doesn't the bible talk about how powerful words can be?

Your only saying that to justify your actions, that is ridiculous. You've offended people, you don't care, and you won't stop, That is ridiculous!

To call someone a Murderer you are labeling them for their own actions

To call someone a cuckold you are labeling them for someone elses actions

Big difference.

The label is valid when it is valid. If a man's wife cheats on him the man is a cuckold. Its not a fun experience I'm sure but the label reflects more on the wife than her husband. Cuckold is also more succinct, less wordy than 'men whose wives cheat on them.' Don't you think?

less wordy, Yes

More Succinct?? Definitely not, since only 3 or 4 people were familiar with the word....

Regardless of your opinion and chris' opinion of the word.. The word offends people, that has been made clear over and over and over and over and over ... and then in a new thread .. and over and over and over...

I would like to go around and label a lot of people who share the road with me a Moron, cuase it is a less wordy succinct word, for most of the drivers on the road...

However I don't do that, cuase it's offensive..

Okay.. I do that, but in the safety of my locked car

If you jump on the internet and throw out labels you have to deal w/ the replies... fact of life

I dunno!

I just think its funny that this is a stinking long thread and the whole time people are complaining about it and no ones actually talking about the topic. ^_^

But really, I figure since I answered the topic in the other thread I'm not going to do it here too.

Then again the phrase "Merry Christmas" offends lots of people too. Should we bend over and soften the cold hard facts and call Christmas only a "holiday" because it offends people or do we call Christmas Christmas because tht's what it is?

Wrong thread dude!!!

And I have a question.... when Jesus brought Mary Magdalene into the fold, how did he treat her? Were her sins washed away? As far as the east is from the west? He didn't run around calling her a prostitute as though it was a current event. I am so glad God forgives sin and doesn't label us.
