S'ok. What I posted still has merit :)

We're responding to each other's posts too quickly.

Of course those scriptures have merit. Especially this one,

Deuteronomy 23:20
Unto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury:

In this regard I lend to the bank at interest. I don't know who they lend my money to (and I doubt they would tell me). I give freely to my 'neighbors', who are those in genuine need (see "The Good Samaritan" parable). :holy:

We didn't need Benny Hinn to reject the "prosperity Gospel". That was done over 3000 years ago in the parable we call the Book of Job.

In case you have not heard or seen this, Benny Hinn has confessed and repented and rebuked the "Properity Gospel...……..

Do you think he is being honest or did he get saved??????

What he said is what a lot of preachers have been saying for a long time.

2 Peter 2:3 ...
'And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you.'

What is the prosperity gospel? Exactly what it says, it teaches that you NEED prosperity in your material life. It doesn't preach that you need prosperity in your 'spiritual' life, which the Bible teaches, but in your material worldly life. All they are preaching is IDOLATRY, elevating wealth and possessions above God, and elevating created things above the CREATOR. This is 'another' gospel which Paul warned about ... Galatians 1:6 ...
'I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.'

1 Timothy 6:5-8 ...…"
Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.'

These preachers of the prosperity gospel are certainly perverting the true gospel of Christ Jesus. But Paul says there isn't another gospel, but only one true gospel of Jesus.

Thoughts????????
Its good he did it. Who am I to judge him? I hope he can speak some light into a very cancerous part of "Christianity"

Material gain, usually at the expense of another (as Mr Hinn has shown)

Unfortunately, no one's innocent of this offense, unless you don't use money OR only use it for needs (uses the rest of it for the Lord).

Because most of the money in the world is made by oppressing the poor. This is something that people who loves money don't want to hear nor refuse to believe nor don't want to do anything about it.

Remember why Jesus asked Peter "do you love me?" three times and also "feed my sheep" three times??

Remember that Peter also denied Jesus three times? This is actually a very dark and very sad prophecy for the followers of Christianity.

This is a hint we will walk the same path the Pharisees did - Matthew 7:22-23. We will fail to feed His sheep, fail to Love (deny) Jesus in more ways (through our actions) than literally saying it.

This is all because of love of money (whom the Pharisees are guilty of)... You cannot serve two masters. You will love one and hate the other.

With the love (greed) of money, Christians themselves will literally fail to feed the Lord's sheep - both in physical and spiritual hunger. - whatever you do (or if you did nothing) for the least of your brethren, you did to the Lord.

Many will experience miracles, heal the sick, drive away demons but fail to feed His sheep, fail to Love the Lord - The only two things Jesus asked. Because of the love of money (hatred of the Father).

Agree for the most part.

Unfortunately, no one's innocent of this offense,
It's called purposely ripping people off, cheating them, getting them to pay for what they once got for free, parasites using others money for their own reward, etc. If I buy a steak for $30/lb am I the one ripping the farmer off giving them a dollar. Both ends lost while someone in the middle gained. Should we eat starch and sugar instead repeating the process? Today oil went up $11 a barrel and people are jumping for joy at the rise while other mourn at the pumps. Yay Mammon and self interest over selflessness and servitude. Was this how The WAY operated?

Many will experience miracles, heal the sick, drive away demons but fail to feed His sheep, fail to Love the Lord - The only two things Jesus asked. Because of the love of money (hatred of the Father).
Typical of those who follow the traditional ideals of man. The Kingdom needs to be put back in Christianity and false Christian influence seen accordingly.

I thought the prosperity gospel was just one of few errors he held to.

It goes beyond this why Jesus asked the rich young ruler that difficult request.

It doesn't seem like the rich young ruler cheated anyone nor stole anything - by the laws of this world. But he did in the eyes of the Lord.

Remember Zacchaeus, although this guy literally cheated people, he promised to reimburse the amount he cheated and more, way beyond the amount he cheated.

Zacchaeus recognized both the laws of this world but more importantly, the laws of the Kingdom.

If you very carefully study how profits are made, you will arrive to a dark conclusion - by taking advantage of the less fortunate. No matter how neatly this world made it, it's still the same thing. Doesn't look obvious if you live in a neat country with high per capita income like Canada. But if you live in a 3rd world country, you see these dark workings more readily. Even Canada ship their garbage to 3rd world (who in turn, dumps them to the ocean). Why would Canada do that because poor people will accept garbage cheaply out of desperation. It doesn't end there, that's just a one of little evils of this thing called profits. Then there's the big evils.

Yes, the price of oil. May not mean much to you (in Canada) but a slight oil price increase would mean skipping meals for the poor in 3rd world nations. The majority of people live in 3rd world countries or in 3rd world conditions.

The same exploits also happen in richer nations but the better infrastruction is able to "sugar coat" it but it's basically the same offense. Again oil price manipulation is just one of the "little evils".

As they say, ignorance is bliss. John 7:7:
The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil.

Who do you work for depends on what you decide to do with the money you recieve from your work, business, etc.

Thoughts????????
The main thing now is to ignore him. He should never be trusted by anyone again with the teaching mantle, having proved himself quite unworthy of the job.

If he truly repented, maybe he should donate as much of his money and possessions to the poor as possible so that he may have treasure in Heaven.
In all fairness to Hinn, he has such ministries already:

Pastor Benny’s ministry is also engaged in work with My Father’s House children’s homes in Mexico and Asia, as well as with feeding programs, crisis relief, and hospital care. For years, his ministry has provided food, clothing, shelter, education, and religious training for thousands around the globe (including partnerships with numerous missionary and relief agencies).

maybe he knows most people are seeing him as a false prophet. so he has to do damage control. but i hope he is sincere.
What’s interesting, after this thread I went to his “what we believe” page and on “paper” his doctrinal beliefs are no different from any other Pentecostal Church.

https://www.bennyhinn.org/about/faith-statement/

It does seem he’s a Modalist.

Good. I want to have enough money so I don't have to worry about it (worrying about stuff takes your mind off of God).
I've always let God worry about the money, and so far He's never left me short.

The entire gospel of the Kingdom

or just for the fun of it

Matthew 23: 14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Micah 2: 1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand. 2 And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. 3 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, against this family do I devise an evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks; neither shall ye go haughtily: for this time is evil.

Proverbs 22: 16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.

etc

and of course the OT talks of interest free loans.

Deuteronomy 23:19 Thou shalt not lend upon interest to thy brother: interest of money, interest of victuals, interest of any thing that is lent upon interest.
I have over 50 of these if you'd like to see them :)

Sorry, I changed that post. Anyway nothing in those scriptures applies to me.
Seriously...

I always say if you think a particular scripture doesn't apply, rip that page out. Then after a year see how much of God's word you've written off as moot.

You may not violate any of them, but those scriptures still apply to us all.

Interesting he has found 'separation' but doesn't seem to have clicked it is between Kingdom and world of man that separates, not just human theologies.

It doesn't seem like the rich young ruler cheated anyone nor stole anything - by the laws of this world. But he did in the eyes of the Lord.
Because he put his security in worldly riches instead of the Kingdom. He was troubled at the thought of giving up worldly security.
Perhaps as part of education, secular and Christian, that everyone should live on the street for a year, before choosing a path in life. :)
