AVG says it can sell your browsing data in updated privacy policy

A spokesperson from the company told Wired UK that AVG updated the language to be more transparent and make sure people know that it can make money off its free products using their information. The new rules will take effect on October 15th, 2015

I quit using their antivirus a few years ago because it was so bloated and slow. That, and it didn't seem to actually catch anything. I near soiled myself after I ran Malwarebytes the first time.

Can't say I'm surprised they're doing this. I guess they had to find some way to bolster their income.

I’d have wonderful success with Windows Defender (Windows 8).
I used Microsoft Security Essentials when I was running Windows 7.

Yep there is nothing wrong with Microsoft Security Essentials

Interesting. I've used it for years, it has caught things, and I also have tried Malwarebytes and it has yet to catch anything additional.

This news merits a yawn, at best.
