At least 6 GOP legislators took part in Trump-inspired protests | TheHill

If they are identified and committed a crime..... Lock 'em up.

"News reports and social media posts showed at least one of the legislators, West Virginia Del. Derrick Evans (R), was among the violent mob that broke into the Capitol building. Evans, who was only recently sworn into office, posted a video of himself entering the building.

“We’re gong in,” he says in the video, in which he is wearing a helmet. He later deleted the post."

Yeah.. hundreds of thousands were there also that also didn't do anything wrong. Point to this? So yes it was mostly peaceful and again odd whats not being said. Well some that got in they found out were NOT Trump supporters. Same with all those other riots and fires. So many of them just protested.

thanks for sharing

Which ones? Because the only two I have seen put forward as such did, in fact, turn out to be Trump supporters (or at least not socialists/communists/antifa/leftists as alleged).

...as if there were not enough jokes about West Virginia already...

It's very surprising to hear that GOP lawmakers are part of Antifa...

It has been shocking to find out that the majority of Americans are part of the Deep State, BLM or Antifa. Something the people themselves didn't know in many cases.

Where do you get your numbers? There weren't even one hundred thousand there, not even half that. There were thousands, maybe 20,000, and a few thousand of those broke into the Capitol in an insurrection. And lawmakers taking part in an insurrection is a HUGE deal.

But thanks for trying.

Apparently the FBI is seaching the homes and offices of some Tennessee lawmakers. While the reason for the FBI searches is not known, some believe that it is tied to the riot at the Capitol on Wednesday.

For many trump supporters, just as it is for their dear leader, the "truth" is whatever it is they want it to be. If "hundreds of thousands" is what they need the narrative to be, then that is what their "truth' is.

IOW information/data/evidence/reality plays little to no part in their belief system. I think it is similar to how creationists and flat earthers view reality.

I wonder what the intersection is with Trump supporters and creationists?

A lot of Christians are creationists and are also liberals and the opposite of Trump supporters. Like me. Flat-earthers, on the other hand, are a different story.

Careful, you’ll alert them to the fact that their “we are the majority!” mantra is, alas, yet another falsehood.

What has happened, historically, is either the minority arises and imposes its will upon the majority, usually under an authoritarian Leader or Democracy works to eliminate popular but BAD political movements.

But at the same time, the majority of them voted for Donald and were lost to fraud. Or something. No one said Republican propaganda was supposed to make sense.

The talk down here is that it isn't related. The former Speaker (Casada) has been embroiled in scandal before and was removed from his post with a no confidence vote. There was controversy about a school voucher bill where some hints of illegal "bartering" may have taken place. There is also talk of campaign finance abuse. The timing is likely coincidental as it looked like these raids were well-planned out. There just isn't anything that seems related to the Capital riot situation.

"We should not forget the legislative event that this long-planned insurrection coincided with, and indeed was largely motivated by. Some eight Republican senators and 139 Republican House members objected to the Electoral College vote confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s victory. As has been written previously and exhaustively, these objections were always doomed to fail.

"But the objections did their job of providing a public spectacle and a rallying cry for insurrectionists. It prolonged and drew attention to a process that, for nearly every presidential election, has served as a rubber stamp. It served as a chance for Republican members to signal their fealty to Donald Trump above all else. It gave them an opportunity to say that they would rather lose American democracy than see Trump lose an election."

How do you deal with 147 representatives in Congress would rather lose American democracy?

Let's be clear. There is little that the Democrats or moderate Republicans can say to them. It is for the conservative Republicans to step up. It is also up to the Republicans to defeat them in primaries.

The votes of these 147 matter not at all. There is no reason to try to get their votes. What is very, very important is for Democrats and mainstream Republicans to work together to do things very quickly.

I think the most urgent things to do now are:

1) Take all pens from Trump so he can't make any decisions. Crayons can still be allowed. Banning him on social media was a great step.

2) Securing Biden's inauguration. I see that they built a wall around the capitol. This is a step in the right direction. But terrorists can still use armed drones.

In all fairness, being unskilled with numbers is what led to this debacle in the first place.
