A violent mob attacked the US Capitol, at the behest of the 45th president of the United States, with the intent to stop the lawful and Constitutional transition of power. Some brought a gallows with them, threatening to literally hang the vice president of the United States because he would not betray his Constitutional duty and obligation to this free and noble republic. The members of Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, were understandably terrified for their lives, as this mob invaded, attacked, and vandalized our nation's Capitol. Thousands upon thousands came.

January 6th, 2021 was the darkest day in US history since September 11th, 2001. There have now been three events, in living memory, in which our nation has been truly rocked to its foundations by violence and terror. Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and now January 6th.

The loyal followers of MAGA ideology, devout but blind, have sought to find every excuse to deny the plain and obvious truth which we all saw with our own eyes on that day. Like terrorist sympathizers who tried to excuse the murder of all those people at the Twin Towers, they too sympathize with terrorism and show themselves to be antipathic toward freedom, democracy, and the rule of law. They do not care about the republic, nor its Constitution; they do not care about the institutions of our longstanding democracy. They do not care about right and wrong. They do not care about the truth and discerning truth from fiction. But altogether are blinded by a grotesque loyalty to an ideology centered upon a false messiah, Donald Trump.

The only fix for any of this is to expose all this evil before the bright sunlight of truth and justice. To expose evil as evil, to expose lies as lies. And to hold all accountable for their actions.

What happened on January 6th cannot happen again. We, the people of these United States, will not forget January 6th.

Prosecutors are known for getting accused people to plead guilty to crimes less than what they did.

And possibly there were police sympathetic to the people raiding the Capitol.

And at Donald Trump's speech I think there were a lot more people, than the number conducting the raid.

And if ones did not want trouble, they could have stayed clear of the raid. On film it looks pretty clear the raiders were being violent. So, I could see that and get out of there, not enter the Capitol while raiders were fighting and hurting and killing officers.

And if ones were crying out to hang the Vice President while entering and being in the Capitol, being in there and staying there could be helping to conceal whoever was really dangerous. Anyone not wanting to help the raid should have stayed out or gotten right out, so the real dangerous ones would be easier to expose.

There were murderers in the bunch, and ones were acting to hurt police. So, if ones hung out with them, they could be helping them to be harder to detect.

And there were dangerous ones who possibly hijacked the situation for worse than what others were planning, but there was not organization of the demonstrators to stop them.

So, I can see that if anyone stayed there, they were helping somehow. But they got a plea deal for less than they could have gotten.

They are only releasing people who have finished their sentence, not people still awaiting or who have not completed theirs. You are just blatantly making up information to support your narrative.

And it was an actual attack, where but for the grace of God and secret service, no politicians were tortured and killed. If the president who did this was Obama and the majority of marchers were POC, you’d lose your mind. Trump just has some desperately impressionable people wrapped around his finger so tightly that they’ll believe anything for “the cause.”

Actually the republicans vowed to make all of it accessible to “prove” the “patriotic American” narrative some so desperately want to believe, but have only released .4% of the footage they have which has been unaired. Why? Because it was deemed “damaging,” “incriminating,” and “showed secured areas.”

They were not being peaceful or patriotic, they were attempting to murder people they disagreed with, overthrow the certification process, and install the leader of their choice in defiance of the will of the people as expressed via the election. They all deserve jail, starting with Trump. The only reason he hasn’t been jailed yet is because there’s the law that we have to follow, then there’s the law that rich (supposedly, anyway), white men follow.

On the 6th, some Capitol police did open some barricades but only after it was obvious they were greatly outnumbered and couldn't hold the crowds back. The crowds could have opened the barricades themselves. I think the officers were trying to avoid violence when they were being overrun.

But eventually, the truth and justice will prevail. But instead of ranting on forums, you should rant at your congressman. Was your congressman one who believed it was an insurrection?

One year ago, Republicans condemned Jan. 6 insurrection. Yesterday, their response was far more muted.

Just a year ago, many Republicans joined Democrats in reacting with horror to the Capitol insurrection. But on the anniversary of the attack, top Republicans were far more muted.

I disagree with what you think, not everybody was a vandal or thug storming the capitol building as you believe

Federal Judges have and are releasing prisoners as we speak, (Michael Sherwin) the initial lead federal prosecutor on the Jan 6th event stated those that weren't violent or destructive and entered the capitol through an open door shouldn't have been charged, this accounting for about 85% of attendees that were charged

Maybe not storming or vandalizing, but surely they saw the barriers that had been pushed aside and must have known that thousands of people pushing their way into the Capitol was not a lawful and orderly entry.
