I'm no expert but I will make a comment or two.

Many players are confident with a Kings Pawn opening but struggle with the dynamics that present when the queens pawn comes into play.

Further - black needs to be very patient to gain advantage as the opening is a largely a response exercise.

So far I have angled for some development advantage at the cost of a pawn. In the initial phase this is a fair trade off as the pawn advantage will only come into play later in the game.

The openings that facilitate a queen side castle are potentially much stronger mid game.

However it is early days and I am unsure how much strength my opponent has - so we will proceed conservatively...

Hi Carl,
Good morning.
Yes, depending on your browser/device you can pause gifs in various ways.
You can also 'build' the original gif to play slower with longer pauses between transitions.
I dropped the gif into the thread in case any new spectators wanted to view a quick version rather than go back over previous posts.

Now. Back to the bloodbath going on in the middle of our board...
