  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Europe's New Security Architecture

The invasion of Ukraine changes everything. For the first time since WW2, we have a major land war going on in Europe. Assumptions of peace and safety in our time have been shattered by the reality of Russian aggression and by Putin's narrative relating to the illegitimacy of all new NATO...

Russian invasion of Ukraine could happen

Why Russia and the West failed to create a united Europe after the USSR collapsed The Russians consider NATO to have broken promises when it expanded to the East. For Ukraine to join NATO is a red line they cannot tolerate. The troops on Ukraine's borders continue to mass and NATO has already...

The Battle for Truth is Intense

Psalms 11:1-3 ESV “In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to my soul, ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain, for behold, the wicked bend the bow; they have fitted their arrow to the string to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart; if the foundations are destroyed, what can...

Charles Spurgeon on Christians and war.

Would be interesting to know how many tens of thousands of American Christians use Spurgeon's devotionals. Despite his wide popularity few have ever read his clear words about Christians and war. What is the Orthodox perspective on nations and war?

After having consumed a reasonable amount of literature that relates to (Eastern) theology and the history of the development of the Christian faith, i was left with some specific questions that i hope can be answered by someone with a more advanced understanding of Orthodox theology then i do...

Was the Reconquista a justified holy war?

In the history of holy wars of Christianity one stands out as the most successful, with the greatest consequences and results. The Reconquista not only expelled Islamic influence from Spain and in the process, all of western Europe, it laid the foundation of the future Christian Kingdoms which...

The western world hates PATRIARCHY and the church ignores it. By this are we sinning?

Some think that patriarchy is about power. But I think it is about responsibility and it is the system directed in the Bible. But we have stepped away from patriarchy. Is that a sin and why does the church avoid this topic? The God-given authority of a man, it has been misused and squandered...

    War and Peace

Cont from this thread: Women Pastors? If warfare is forbidden, period, then I wonder how it is as Christians we reconcile ourselves to the Christian past. When I consider a war like the Reconquista, am I to consider it a bad thing that Spain is Christian today? Am I to consider it a bad...

    Military Metaphor and Covid

Biden Thanksgiving speech: We're at war with the virus, not each other I see this kind of rhetoric quite frequently nowadays. That we are fighting a war, or that the virus is our enemy. This is called the military metaphor, and is fairly common in Medicine. However, it is actually discouraged...

“Most wars are started by Democrats.” Huh?

The other day, someone told me, “Most wars are started by Democrats.” I asked him if he remembered the first George Bush’s invasion of Panama. He didn’t. I asked him if he remembered Ronald Reagan sending troops to the island of Grenada to take out the Marxist regime there. He didn’t. There are...

    For Our Nation

War, politics, lies, betrayal, the murdering of innocents, our young men and women in uniform dying on a battle field via men of power; takeovers of nations, riots and lawlessness, sin abounding, the church asleep or complacent for the most part; the gospel diluted, and do we even notice?

The Devil has been shut out of Heaven; the End is in sight

Hi there, So just to fill in the gaps, Revelation says that a war broke out in Heaven (between the Devil and the Lord's angels) - this war, spiritually ended with the Devil shut out of Heaven. There is reason to believe that the Devil won't war again, until it is on Earth - where he will...

MAGOG - Who and where is it exactly?

From another thread here it was brought up about Magog, didn't want to derail that because there's much to look into. We first find it in Genesis in the genealogy found there after the flood. 1 Now this is the genealogy of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And sons were born to them...

The Devil is going to test people, as to whether they would forgive the anti-Christ

Hi there, So scripturally (I have to start with scripture here, which is not a bad thing, I'm just saying) this is based on being blessed - as Jesus said "blessed is he who is not offended because of Me". The point is that it is never natural to overlook an offence, even though we might like to...
