  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    An introduction and a question.

Hello -- my name is Jackson and I am currently exploring my relationship with faith and God. I grew up with no strict religion or belief system, but in my ongoing recovery work in AA I have come to believe that a relationship with God is as important as one's relationship with their mother and...

    New believer advice needed please

Hello, my name is Joey. I have a long story but for brevity I am 45 years old and I just now finally understand with great clarity my purpose in life. I feel so excited I can barely contain myself. This behavior is not normal for my "old self" for lack of understanding. This might sound silly...

Questions about the Sabbath of the LORD thy God, this subject is interesting don't you think so? Here is an excellent video series on this subject, that I have been watching, that Youtube recommended to me: The playlist is 36 videos long, but each is appropriately titled, if anyone desires...

"answering The Actual Questions Of Spiritual Seekers" Blog Post

Decades ago i ran across a book that covered the Charismatic movement in the Lutheran Church. As an ex-Lutheran it was of interest to me. The books lasting value was putting a finger on a problem I've seen and experienced all too many times. Too many times pastors and other people respond to...

Questions for Understanding Baptist and Catholic Practice

Hi everyone, Since I became a practicing Christian five years ago, I have been a member of a Baptist church. However, as I've read Scripture, prayed, listened to prominent pastors, and discussed with Christian friends, I've found more compelling evidence, conviction, alignment with my beliefs...

    The HCSB Bible is Awesome

I have read the entire books of Romans and 1 Corinthians in the HCSB and it's really easy for me to read while not sacrificing the deep meanings, e.g. the Living Bible. Does anyone else have a good experience with it?

Should Women be Allowed to Pastor Churches?

My opinion is no, according to Scriptures. In any other position, I would think otherwise. e.g. A woman can teach children and other women. A woman can be an assistant.

Interested in Orthodoxy (No Church, Though)

I'm a soon-to-be-ex-Protestant who has found that his beliefs are almost Orthodox in nature. There's still things that I wrestle with but I would love to have some questions answered. I believe in: The Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist Praying in the presence of a priest Reverent...

What is the Proper Relationship with Christ?

I'm not sure if I should post this to the advice forum or the theological forum, because this deals with both simultaneously. I know of the 'Jesus is my buddy' theology and I used to believe that but I never had an intimate experience with Christ, especially in that way. I read on a Lutheran...

    Is Christian Metal Sinful?

My previous poll had an incorrect question. I want to fix it by asking the question I intended to ask instead of what I asked before. For example... Disciple Demon Hunter early Norma Jean Red Mortification Love and Death (basically 'Christian' Korn) etc. I want these things for replies: 1...

Shoud Christian Rock be Considered Sinful?

I am a borderline addict to Christian rock/metal, especially the more Demon Hunter-esque vein. I feel a confusing feeling while listening to it, like it feels simultaneously right and wrong, right because of the lyrics and wrong because of the sound, I guess. Whatever is true, lovely, etc...

Theological Questions (and a couple Personal Ones)

Really quick statement: I used to be VERY stubborn in my beliefs. I mean that's expected when five-point Calvinism was what I believed. (I could say I'm now more-or-less Wesleyan but I'm not exactly sure; we all have different opinions.) I'll ask questions and want to hear the opinions of...
