  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Manly Catholicism

"More than ever, the Church needs men. Sadly, many Catholic men have believed the lie that being holy isn’t manly, and that the faith is boring. They leave religion to women and children and simply tune out. But holiness is for men. There is nothing more difficult, rewarding, or manly than...

Are you in the Faith, or are you on the Cross?

The NT tells you, if you are born again, to be "in the faith".....to make certain of this.... 2nd Corinthians 13:5 It does not tell you to be "IN the commandments" or "IN the law", or anything that has to do with performance or self effort .. as how to be "IN the FAITH". Jesus gave you some...

Reconsidering Easter Orthodoxy after a very different faith journey

Dear all, I would be very grateful on some advice when it comes to my faith journey, in these for me and all of us hard times. In short, I was raised in Serbia, in a very loving family, with a mixture of cultural Eastern Orthodoxy (icons, holy water, priest blessing the home for Easter) and...

    Institutional Child Sexual Abuse

This week Australia listened to an investigative report on one of our most Elite Private schools. A catholic run school that has fronted our national headlines for all the wrong reasons. It started with the schools promotion of a noxious culture that fostered the boys competitiveness and...

World's Oldest Nun Dies Aged 110

I couldn't fit the whole article title in the title field, but this nun led an amazing life. She hid children from the Nazis in WWII. May God receive her soul and rest it among the righteous and the just. ‘World’s oldest nun’ who helped hide Jews from Nazis dies aged 110

    I reject council of Ephesus

Hello everyone. I am part of the Greek Orthodox church. I'm pretty familiar about church history and Theology. I know that the Roman Catholics, Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox churches believe that ecumenical councils are dogma. And I accept all the Eastern Orthodox ecumenical councils...

Fish and Chips has Jewish Origins

The inquisition played a big part in the UK's 'undisputed national dish of Great Britain'. It was so popular even Winston Churchill exempted it from rationing during the war. Jews fleeing the 'convert or be expelled' Portuguese Monarchy went first to Spain and then to England to escape...

Dealing with Sexually Immoral non-Christian Friends

Hello, I'm going to give context to this post so you all can understand my situation more clearly. I am a seventeen-year-old Christian. I've grown up in the church my entire life, but I turned away from God fully around age twelve. The Lord continued to pursue me, though, and after living a very...

Detroit Diocese Sued Over Funeral Sermon

Some kid committed suicide and had a funeral in a catholic church. Apparently the priest preached against suicide, indicating that the decedent wasn't in Heaven as a result. His parents have now sued the church claiming emotional distress and such. Here are my thoughts. First of all, the...

Any Former Sedevecantists? I'd like to hear your experiences with Sedevecantism

Hello, I am new to this forum. I grew up and was raised sedevecantist. Until recently, I have slowly by slowly---by the grace of God---started to drift away from Sedevecantism. I grew up having just some of the worse experiences with Sedevecantists. They have made me realize that being stuck...

Why not to receive Holy Communion in the hand.

Good day everyone, I am going to make this post not as a judgement, but on my views as to why Communion should always be received kneeling (or genuflecting) and on the tongue. I am also open to any counter arguments that would be made. Prior to Vatican II and more specifically shortly after...

How Many Books Are in Your Bible? 66? 73? 81?

I'm genuinely interested in hearing about how many books are in a canon. The number varies greatly. The Lutheran Position on this subject is unique. While today, especially in the West, Lutherans keep and utilize Bibles with the 66 standard Protestant books, Lutherans have never been...

So it turns out abp. Vigano was correct

Finally the evidence has been leaked that ex-cardinal ex-priest Teddy McCarrick really was censured and restricted. Like archbishop Vigano said. I'm not surprised. We still have the difference of opinion on whether pope Francis knew archbishop Vigano told him about McCarrick.

Question for Catholics from an ex-Protestant in search of a denomination

I was raised Nazarene but I think I'm completely convinced at this point that I can't be Protestant. Now I just have to figure whether I should be Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. I really struggle, as many do, with the current corruption of the Church & the Papacy. I understand that it was the...
