Did mind–body dualism exist before original sin?

That's Valentinian Gnosticism.

I ran into a 21st century gnostic here not too long ago. Gnostics don't like the flesh.
So, in the 21st century, the consciousness was going to get uploaded to the promised Matrix.
Kind of a cool re-imagining of 1st century heresy if you ask me ;)

I do not mind anyone who believes whatever they want to believe as long as I am not made guilty of a crime I am innocent of. One group believed they could behave however they wanted, because Jesus set them free, against their will, destined to eternity in heaven. They blamed their flesh for all the evil they did, and their perfect new born spirit in Christ was eternal which would be set free at death.

My problem was their morality was they were not guilty of doing evil though they did evil things, and I was worse than a murderer for opposing this theology of a lack of social responsibility. This real sin they commit is worthy of judgement in the courts on earth and by God at judgement day. Now it was no joke their anger and hatred, they often had to stop interacting because they got so angry. And they are dangerous because conscience was no limit to them, my death would have been fine, one less opponent for their idiology.

One key sign of the gnostic is their disgust, which is not limited to the physical, but others who do not agree with them. And it might not surprise anyone but racism and dictatorship support tend to go along with the idiology. Feudal loyalty to the group and belief is the highest ethic and love is just an ideal made to make them more reliant on their belief system. As other successful belief system, everyone is sympathetic with the cleansing of unbelievers they will be called to at some point.

In their eyes, evil is not believing their idiology, not how you behave.

God bless you

They had one good idea ..that doesn't mean I have to be in their religion to consider what physicality means.

If you really want a quantum conversation, quantum physics proves this is all a simulation.
The real problem is one of infinite reducibility of events. At some point everything is either one thing or another ie an object is either a point in space or an influence over an area ie a wave. If the reality is merely defined by the observer, it is a simulation, because the key issue is the impression not the definition.

So your dislike of the physical is in the wrong place, because everything is a projection of something else. Matter is pure energy in a confined form. Space is the influence of energy in 4 dimensions. So spirit is the same as physical existence, so ones reference points are actually defined by the creator of the simulation. Or to put it another way, to interact with others you need to have a presence in the 4 dimensional world, which defines meaning and interaction. If you go outside these constraints you have nothing, no difference between anything.

It is why gnostic notions make no sense, other than a rejection of the limitations of life rather than celebrating the gifts life brings us in our experiences and relationships we have.

God bless you

Does "For our sake he made him to be sin" mean Jesus was made in a way that could interact with this fallen reality?
2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus came to interact with us, but he was perfect and not fallen, so reality and the human experience itself is not corrupt and fallen.

Jesus's words about the disciples being clean because of the words that were spoken to them and they followed, meant true purity and holiness can be experienced here on earth in our lives as we live them today.

Moses law defines what is unclean and what is not, what is acceptable and how to deal with the boundaries of the unclean and the clean. The whole point of the law was to show cleansing was possible, purity could be achieved by the high priest, once a year. Jesus being our high priest bought this possibility, and brought into our hearts the living God, so we could walk like Jesus, today.

Gnostic ideas are appealing to those who are full of self condemnation and unbelief, disqualifying themselves from the loving God opening their arms and welcoming them home.

The falling of the Holy Spirit on the disciples was proof the Kingdom had come to earth, God is now here able to change and transform lives, God living in man.

God bless you

You can't imagine eating in heaven?
They were naked after they were physical.
You need a body to eat
and they were physical before they sinned
naked before they sinned
Genesis 2:25
Naked, but unafraid, unashamed, because it was not a sin for them.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Job 19:25-27
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

We will have bodies, that have flesh, that God will be able to touch to wipe away our tears.

Does that not refer to an alternate thinking to the default setting of self interest?
