People dying who ain’t ever died before.
I wouldnt be shocked if Ozzy was clinically dead for a minute or so at some point in the past.

The way he lived, he should have died three or four times now. In some ways I probably thought he’d always be there.

Seems like the "celebrities die in 3's" pattern was in full effect this past week.

Malcolm Jamal Warner, Ozzy, and now the Hulkster
I saw that Chuck Mangione died as well, @84; #4 or first of another three?

I'm sure excessive steroid use did not help...
Probably not...

Although, the wrestlers also end up taking a litany of other drugs (some prescribed, some not prescribed) throughout their careers.

Especially the ones from the 80's where it was a little more of the "pharmaceutical wild west" and before the major promotions had wellness policies.

That brings to mind the Von Erich family, who were the thing in Texas when I was coming up.

Yep, the only one left is Kevin (the one who wrestled barefooted)

The "true test" of whether or not the wellness policies wrestling companies have now are effective (or are being diligently enforced) will be able to be determined in 20-25 years from now.

The guys who were big in the 90's were still at the tail end of that era where anabolic steroids and pain killers were still pretty easily accessible for them. (Triple H has already had some heart-related issues from his past use)

So the true test will be in a few decades, if we see guys like John Cena & Randy Orton (and the guys who came up around their time) kicking the bucket in their early-mid 60's with heart issues, we'll know

The guy made it to 71. That's a whole life. What is the expectation?
Still a couple years short for a US man. Even more considering he wasn't obese and wealthy enough to afford excellent healthcare.

Much more pressing is the matter that he spent his last decades in permanent, excruciating pain due to the accumulated injuries of his wrestling days. It would probably be faster to list the parts of his bodies that weren't broken.

Well if you made it to 70 then your life expectancy is around 85. Life expectancy goes up as you age. So for his age, he died young.

A 70-year-old male in the United States can expect to live an additional 15.3 years, based on life expectancy data.
This means that, on average, a 70-year-old man is likely to live until around 85 years of age.

Sudden cardiac arrest. I am wondering a bit how a man under so much medical supervision can get it, without being diagnosed with cardiac problems, before.

He had a history of severe physical injuries from his wrestling career that necessitated around 25 surgeries over the past decade. These surgeries included 10 back surgeries, and replacements of both knees, both hips, and shoulders. He also underwent neck surgery shortly before his death.

One thing has been bothering me. How is anyone an actual champion in a scripted event? Its like calling Sly Stallone a boxing champion.
