No. You misunderstand me. Belief in Jesus is believing that he is the Messiah and believing in our Lords death, burial, and resurrection. Because without the Gospel there can be no salvation.

Some believe it is very narrow. A woman leader at the church Bishop Joseph Garlington grew up in said that in her study only about 7 or 8 people from all of time would actually get into heaven. (not even all of the apostles)

There's actually a couple twists in the Bible that most Christians missed. Jesus may have never trusted Peter up to the very end if anyone pays attention to the subtle hints and clues Jesus gave away.

Jesus even warned the disciples about the coming deception, ironically, most of them fell for it.

The Bible is a whole lot more if only Christians let it speak the Truth instead of believing it to be something that it is not....

It's like driving a tank through your peaceful suburban neighborhood when it is meant for something a lot more and quite the opposite of what you're trying to do with it

REAL belief is enough. That much is clear from John 3:16 and other verses in the Bible that say it is our belief in the Gospel that saves Christians.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

It's much more than that. Read post #41. Also believing in the Trinity and that Jesus is God helps but those are not required for salvation.

All this confusion is why few will make it. The gospel is no longer clear. The yoke is no longer easy. And people are too willing to just believe and wait to see if their belief saves them in the future.

When today is the day of Salvation.

What did Jesus mean when he said "few will be saved?" There are billions of Christians out there! Christianity is the largest religion in the world! So surely many will be saved? What are we missing? Discuss.

In the parable of the Prodigal Son one son safe was too few, one son lost was too many. In the parable of the coins 11 coins safe was to few, one coin lost was too many. In the parable of the sheep 99 safe was too few, one lost was too many. Perhaps instead of thinking in percentages we should think in terms of perspective

Christ's sentiment is different in the Book of John. The Book of John is supposedly written by Christ's "beloved disciple" or at least the followers of this disciple.

Jesus trusted that disciple 100%. More clues to the puzzle

Rom 10.9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
