Oh, but if I could have my fantasy wishes I'd like for California to secede from the US, and then have it led by President Neal Patrick Harris and Prime Minister George Takei.

Only if NPH dresses as Dr. Horrible, and Takei as Sulu, at all diplomatic functions. :D

They must be in character as well. Including musical numbers.

Nice! A Dr Horrible reference! ;)
tulc(misses Penny!) :sigh:

:( The ending was really sad.

Speaking from another perspective, yes, it was sad. But Dr. Horrible achieved his goals. And he didn't seem sad, more that, as he had said earlier, "soon the dark in me is all that will remain."

Besides, it was Capt. Hammer's fault. The blame being placed on Billy just confirmed his opinion of the world.

Someone should write an essay on Nietzchean Ethics and Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog.

Didn't you see right at the end how he was there in his house, alone, and in normal clothes? I think that pretty much states what he wanted more.

Yep. But that's the point. He cannot have what he wants. He's a tragic figure. In a sane world, others would see that. Instead, while tearfully holding the body of the woman he loved, and who saw good in him, someone yells "Why did you kill her?" He can't have the girl, so he's going to take it out on those who made him a villain.

He's an icon to everyone who ever tried to be genuinely nice, but got dismissed for someone who made the effort to look nice. I think the world will be a better place for Dr. Horrible's evil dominance.

I agree, and it's made all the more sad because Pennys last words were "He'll save me, he's a hero." :(

Rebel? Nah, I'm not in love with the particular piece of land I live on nor the country that it happens to be in. Sure, America's pretty good but I certainly don't think it's the best nor all that worth emulating. Besides, American hegemony is dying out and it's only a matter of time before the US is just not that big of a deal anymore.

Well vast stretches of US Territory could be lost and I wouldn't shed a tear for them (the South, the Desert, Texas for example). In fact I think the United States would be better off without them. On the other hand I was born and raised in Alaska. I love Alaska and would be depressed to see my homeland sucked into a state of decline by the teeming masses of Republican voters.

In the event of the institution of Religious Theocracy in America I would take a stab at subsistence living in a remote corner of Southeast Alaska. There my husband and I could live undisturbed in solitude, minding our own business, the way America was meant to be. Perhaps we would take a few other refugees with us and create our own little community; it couldn't be more than 10-20 people however to avoid attracting attention.

That is of course assuming they don't start executing gays in accordance with the bible like they really secretly desire. If that's the case its British Columbia Canada for me.

1st ammendment.

America is a pluralist democracy.

How bad can it actually get? Anyone willing to explain the worst of worst situation?

Passing an amendment to the US Constitution to ban same-sex marriage in all 50 states would be your first indication that the USA is starting to circle the toilet bowl. Once the founding document is used to restrict the liberty of other American citizens then the Freedom America claims to stand for would no longer exist. In such a case freedom-fighters (called terrorists if they lose) would be fully justified in attempts to overthrow the government and restore Liberty and Justice. This of course would require a violent nation-wide insurgency. Things could get pretty bad pretty quickly, and it would take decades to restore the United States to a prominent position of world power (if it recovers at all).

Now that it appears John McCain will win the election and Democrats will lose control of the Congress, America seems on the verge of a decline into medieval dark-age notions of religious rule.

I'm curious as to where 'Teh Gheys' will flee to to avoid the inevitable persecution? Personally I may apply for refugee status in Canada. Yet I wonder, if the Constitutional Amendment adding discrimination is to pass don't we have a duty as real Americans to rebel?

What are your thoughts?

They will not be persecuted. They maybe largely unheard of (as they seemed to have been in the 40's, 50's and early 60's), and that could be refreshing. Ask not how the country may feather your bed, ask why it should care at all.

What you do on your time is of no interest to me. Simply keep it to yourself and don't make it a pubic scandal... Gosh, when I was my kid's age, I had absolutely no clue that there were men who had perverse sex. I didn't even know such existed outside bible stories in "modern" times.

the presidential race is certainly still up for grabs, but the dems are expected to pick up between 12-20 seats in congress. your fears are unfounded.
i am 50 and knew my first openly (flagrantly!) gay man when i was 9. it has never been a great scandal to me.

What they do on their own time is of no interest to you but I would imagine you're still against same-sex marriage, aren't you? Don't you think that's a bit hypocritical?

Well if only more people WOULD mind their own business instead of sticking their noses into other peoples' bedrooms and getting offended by what they see, we'd all be a lot better off. But you and I both know that's not how it works these days. Christians by and large feel that they are entitled by their majority status to dictate morality to everyone they disagree with.

Which is why the concept of Alaska is so compelling. There are still parts of Alaska where your nearest neighbor is 50 miles away and they don't have any interest in meddling in your business anyway. Its a live and let live mentality which I really miss sometimes.

Not at all. I'm against Sodomy and I believe such to be a sin. That is just as true today as 2000 + years ago, and yet some people have always indulged in that sin. I believe it is best to keep such socially obscure for the sake of the weak and impressionable.
