  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

European Union spent more on Russian fossil fuels than Ukraine aid in 2024

Please provide proof. Thank you. Also, please show the prices that The US oil & gas companies are charging EU nations for that, and then please show the difference from that price to what citizens in Europe are paying at the gasoline pumps. Thank you, sir.
I said that the prices the US charged in the EU about 500% higher than in the US, for gas. I forgot that you use the word "gas" for "gasoline", in the USA. I meant natural gas.

Because of the sanctions against Russia and because (natural) gas pipelines were damaged under the Baltic sea etc., there was an energy crisis in the EU. And the US companies charged nonsensical money for their "help" to make quick profit. There were even some official protests against this unethical business.

It is no wonder that poorer EU countries - Slovakia for example - had to continue buying the Russian natural gas, even during the war. Which is something for example @Laodicean60 does not understand in its context.

Fear Not Their Intimidation

I believe that God allows us to be persecuted. It creates character and strength in us. This builds us up so that when really hard times hit, we are ready for it.
When I first started evangelising, if someone got angry or flipped their lid, it would stun me. But now if it happens, I can laugh at the situation.
It reminds me of soldiers going into battle. At the start, every bomb landing around them made them absolutely afraid. But as time goes on, the bombs don't worry you.

1 enochs solar year is 364 not 360 days

It takes more effort to not see the clear allusions to 1 Enoch by Peter and Jude than to see them. Then again, if one has not read 1 Enoch, he/she will say, "what allusions"?

Sure, there may be a few scribal errors, but 1 Enoch gives all the science of creation before science even existed. Not bad for something possibly 5 centuries old (though solid proof is to 3 BCE).

For the Will of God

“Therefore, since Christ has suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same purpose, because he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.” (1 Peter 4:1-5 NASB’95)

When Jesus Christ died on that cross, and he suffered in the flesh, it was to put our sins to death with him so that we, by faith in him, will now die to sin and live to God and to his righteousness in walks of obedience to the Lord. By faith in him, our old self was crucified with him so that we will no longer be slaves to sin. Thus, we are not to let sin reign in our mortal bodies to make us obey its desires, for if sin is what we obey, it will lead to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, its end is eternal life with Christ.

[1 Peter 2:24; 2 Corinthians 5:15,21; Romans 6:1-23; Titus 2:11-14]

So, the gospel of Jesus Christ is not just an invitation to “invite Jesus Christ into your heart,” and now you are saved and heaven is your eternal destiny. Our salvation is not something that takes place once in our lives, done deal, and now heaven is secured us regardless of how we live. For, first of all, Jesus died to deliver us from our slavery to sin, not just to forgive us our sins. And he lives to empower us to walk in obedience to his commands, not to give us permission to keep living in sin while claiming him as our Lord.

Both our salvation and our faith are something that have a beginning, but must continue until the very end if we want to have salvation from sin and eternal life with God. For we are saved (past), by faith in Jesus, and we are being saved (present active), and we will be saved (future) when Jesus returns and he takes his faithful ones to be with him for eternity, but only if we continue in Christ in dying to sin and walking in obedience to our Lord, and living for him in surrender of our wills to the will of God the Father.

So, the goal of our salvation should not be just so we get to go to heaven when we die, and so we escape hell. The goal of our salvation is that we live, in practice, no longer as slaves to sin, but now as servants of the Lord Jesus in walks of obedience to his commands. And it is that we now live to do the will of God, and to serve him with our lives, and to minister his love and grace to others, so that they can come to know him, too. For we are now to deny self who commit our lives to doing the will of God for our lives.

Therefore, such things as sensuality, sexual immorality, lusts, carousing, drunkenness, lying, cheating, stealing, committing adultery, and idolatry should not be what we do, in practice, by habit. We should no longer be living to please the flesh, but to please God. We should no longer be living in deliberate and habitual sin, but in walks of obedience in moral living. For God’s grace trains us to renounce ungodliness and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives while we await Jesus’ return (see Titus 2:11-14).

But, when we die to sin, and our lives are now committed to following Jesus and his commands, and to doing the will of God for our lives, and when we change from who we were to someone else who now serves the Lord with all seriousness of purpose, we should not be surprised if we begin getting rejected. We should not be surprised if friends and family and other “Christians” malign us or think we have lost our minds because we are no longer doing the things that the people of the world do, in practice.

And it should not surprise us if they begin withdrawing from us and if they invite us out of their “churches,” because they were warned about people like us, i.e. “people with strong convictions.” Or they may boot us out because we are honest, we don’t tell lies, we don’t manipulate to get what we want, and we don’t play mind games to try to get others to do what we want them to do. And they may cast us aside because of our commitment to the truth of the gospel when they are diluting it to appease human flesh.

But we need to be those who stand on the truth of God’s word, who are people of integrity, for whom obedience to God is our practice, and for whom living in sin is no longer our practice. That does not make us perfect people, but lack of perfection is never to be used as an excuse for deliberate and habitual sin. As followers of Christ we are to walk in purity of devotion to our Lord in dying daily to sin and walking in obedience to his commands, by the Spirit, in the power of God, by God-persuaded faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

[Matthew 7:13-14,21-23; Luke 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Romans 2:6-8; Romans 6:1-23; Romans 8:1-14; 1 Corinthians 10:1-22; Galatians 5:16-21; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:17-32; Ephesians 5:3-6; Titus 2:11-14; Hebrews 3:1-19; Hebrews 4:1-13; Hebrews 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 John 1:5-10; 1 John 2:3-6; 1 John 3:4-10]

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

Preparing to serve our Messiah, LORD, GOD (Exodus 27:20-30:10)

PARASHA: “Tetsaveh” (you shall command) EXODUS 27:20-30:10

In this parashah, we will see the preparation of the Menorah, and the clothing of the priests. The study starts out with preparing olive oil to fill the lamps of the Menorah, The Torah tells us that it was a “permanent light” (Ner Tamid). It would be the only light outside of the “Kadosh Kedoshim” (The HOLY of Holies) where the “Shekinah” illuminated that small area where the only article was the “Aron Ha Kodesh” (The Ark of the Covenant.

The Menorah was “outside” the curtain, yet still inside the tabernacle. In the same room with the Menorah were the Table of Shew bread, where the 12 loaves of bread were, and the Table of Incense. Here we have a three-fold symbolism of Messiah Yeshua. The table of Shew Bread, “Yeshua HaLechem Chaim” (Yeshua the Bread of Life) and the incense altar, where our “Prayers go upward to heaven” and where “Yeshua intercedes on our behalf. The Menorah is “Yeshua HaOr Olam v'ha Or Tamid” (Yeshua the Light of the World and the Eternal Light.

The Menorah was to burn all night, and in the morning, the high priest (Aaron) would come in to trim the wicks and prepare the Menorah for the evening lighting. The Menorah was all about “Light” It was the only light source inside the Tabernacle.

The word “Ad “means “witness” during the evening, the Shekinah Glory was the outside light, while the lamps were the inside lights. During the day, the Shenika glory which was above the Mercy Seat of the Aron Ha Kodesh (Ark of the Covenant) was the inner light of the Mishkan (Tabernacle).

There is a difference between light and darkness, Good and Evil, Holiness and Sin, Lost and saved. The olive oil in the lamps symbolizes the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which the wicks can symbolize every believer. If we are to burn bright, we must be in constant contact with the oil, if not, we will “burn out”

In pagan cultures, darkness was when evil came about, demons, etc. In ancient Egypt, their god “Ra” went to sleep at night, so the Egyptians were without protection against the “evils of the night”. Those who ventured out usually took a cat with them, symbolizing “Bastet” goddess of the night, who would protect the person against “evil”. Wow, what if the cat saw a mouse or a dog, and....ran off? Oh, well.

The Menorah that burned during the night symbolized “Elohim” who would be the “light in the evening” as well as in the day. The light was inside the tabernacle, and also, outside in the form of the “column of Fire”

We are blessed by the presence of the Ruach HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit) at all times, in the day and during the night, inside and out, the believer is NEVER alone, the Light of G-d is forever with us.

The Menorah had seven branches, it was made of pure gold, and the middle branch was called the “Shamash” or the “helper”. “Seven” is the perfect number of holiness. “Six” branches (six is the number of mankind) are on either side of the Shamash, three on the right and three on the left. Mankind needs the presence of Yeshua, to fulfill his destiny, to get right again, into a right relationship with his creator through Yeshua, through the “New birth” (John 3:3) .

The wicks are “all of us” and the oil that goes into the lamps, is the “Holy Spirit” We need to be in continuous contact and communion with the Holy Spirit so that our lamps will “shine brightly” continuously, after all, Yeshua said to his followers, “Ye are the Light of the world” (Atem ha Orot ha olam). Israel's purpose was to be the “light to the Gentiles” to go into the world and teach the pagan peoples who worshipped idols, that there was only ONE GOD, to bring the Torah to the world.

This is what happened during the “scattering” of the tribes of Israel to the nations, now, there are the Jewish people” in all nations, and in all nations, there are many who worship our LORD and God. Even among the Jewish peoples of the world, many Messianic believers who embrace Yeshua HaMashiach.

In the next chapter, it talks about the clothing of the priests. Clothing has always been a thing of importance. Clothing tells a lot about a person. Each article of clothing had a spiritual significance, always pointing to Yeshua.

As you read the parashah chapters and verses, we see the tunic/robe, bonnet, ephod, breastplate, etc., all meaningful. The onyx stones on the priests’ shoulders had the names of the tribes of Israel engraved, the priest would “shoulder the burden” of the nation, taking the animal sacrifices (that represented Yeshua's death) would intercede before YHVH on the nation's behalf. Now, Yeshua intercedes before the Father on our behalf with his “once only” death/sacrifice for all sin for ALL time. The Onyx stone symbolizes stability, healing, strength, purity, and protection—all of which should be part of a believer's life. We are healed of the curse of sin by the blood of Yeshua, we are strengthened through the WORD, and the Living WORD, we need to walk in purity and we are protected by the WORD, that warns us "not to go astray"

The breastplate would have 12 stones engraved with the names of the tribes of Israel, “Israel was/is next to YHVH's heart! As we are too, since we are all part of the commonwealth of Israel. Two interesting things are the “Urim and Thumim” no one knows exactly what they were, there are suggestions, that they might have been two stones that lit up and glowed when the priest would ask YHVH a question, the “Urim and Thumim' (Light and perfections) were placed under the breastplate. When the priest went before YHVH seeking an answer to some judgment concerning the people, the stones would light up “illuminating” the priest with perhaps special wisdom from God, and it would be a “Perfect” response from God.

The other idea is that there was a parchment with the Name of God YHVH with Urim and Tumim of God ( Y H V H ) on it and placed inside the breastplate, and then, some think, that the letters of the names of the tribes of Israel that were engraved on the stones, would glow. The priest under the anointing of the Spirit of God, would then put the letters together and would “read” God's answer. But these are just ideas, nothing 100% certain. In heaven, we will discover what the “Urim and Thumim were/are! “

Today, we have the Word of God. YHVH speaks to us through his written Word, but also, through dreams, at times, through other people who are very sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, YHVH conveys messages through events in our lives. If we look back in our lives, we can see that YHVH has been right there working and preparing events/people to bring us to where we are now.

In chapter 29, we have the anointing/dedication of Aaron and his sons for the ministry. The sacrifices were a bullock and two rams, unleavened bread with olive oil. All these point to Yeshua, these were clean animals, whose blood symbolizes the blood of our Messiah, just like the unleavened bread, “Yeshua the Bread of Life” and the oil, the “Ruach HaKodesh” a little bit of the blood was placed on Aaron's right ear lobe, right thumb, and on the right toe, the same was done to his sons. What does this symbolize? We could say that as priests, “May they always HEAR, LISTEN TO the voice of God, that they might DO his will, and follow his commandments, and WALK in HIS footsteps, FOLLOWING the path of Torah.

The next time you are called to anoint a person with oil. You might anoint in that same way. On the right ear lobe, on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe on the right foot (or on the shoe). I always include the forehead, that the person might "think" on the WORD also.

Chapter 30 talks about the altar of incense, which was made of [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim wood overlaid with gold, again, the humanity of Yeshua and the purity of HIM who is God. On this altar, the incense was burned, symbolizing our prayers that go up to YHVH as a sweet savor.

It is very interesting that the Word "K'Toret" means "incense. There are 4 Hebrew letters in this word K + T + R + T those form the first letters of 4 other words related: Kedushah (Holiness) Taharah (Purity) Rachamim (mercy and compassion) Tikvah and Tefilah (Hope and Prayer)

What can we make out in this? Our prayers should go up to God in Holiness and Purity, asking for Mercy and compassion as we also should show others mercy, compassion, and hope that there is "light at the end of the tunnel"

However, all believers are "kingly priests" a "royal priesthood" serving Yeshua who is our "High Priest". Our priesthood is not under Aaron, but rather under Melchizedek, The High Priest of old could only enter the Holy of Holies once a year (on Yom Kippur) yet we have free access to the Throne of Grace 24-7 through the Blood of Yeshua. Our priesthood is so much better, wouldn't you say?

Have a blessed week.

How do demons evangelise?

It might seem callous but he is talking about the real gospel from selfish ambition. This is different from a false gospel from selfish ambitions
its also an entirely different environment, one that we don't have much information about today.

Paul also seemed to believe the end would happen in his lifetime which is why he wouldn't have been concerned at all about the possibility of his own mistakes causing ripples, 2000 years later.

Mark Carney wins race to replace Trudeau as Canada's prime minister

He is reported to be a practicing Catholic. Maybe an improvement over Justin Trudeau. But then again Joe Biden said he was a practicing Catholic. So what that means is yet to be determined.
Biden should be ashamed of himself.

What an embarrassment.

Why do I need or look for historical evidence of the existence of Jesus?

Elon Musk's AI chatbot says a 'Russian asset' delivered the State of the Union | Opinion

According to the AI chatbot called Grok, which was developed by Elon Musk’s company xAI, there is a “75-85% likelihood” that the person who delivered the State of the Union address on Tuesday night is a “Putin-compromised” Russian asset.
In describing Grok, by the way, Musk said it is a “maximally truth-seeking AI, even if that truth is sometimes at odds with what is politically-correct.”
There is a very clear pattern.
AI isn’t so intelligent?

Color me shocked

Oh noes!!!

Excited to Walk in Faith with You All!

Hello, everyone!

My name is Mike, and I’m so happy to be here. I enjoy listening to worship music and studying Scripture—it’s amazing how God’s Word speaks to us in new ways every time!

I joined this forum because I’m looking for a Christ-centered community where I can grow spiritually, learn from others, and encourage those around me. One of my favorite verses is Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me," which reminds me of how God sustains us in every season.

My goal here is to connect with fellow believers, share uplifting insights, and reflect on how we can live out our faith daily. I’m also happy to pray for anyone who needs support.

Looking forward to connecting with you all! God bless you.
Hi Mike. Welcome aboard. :)

Do you know any downloadable Bible apps for a desktop computer, that are good for printing?

Some word processors are piggy backed on a spread sheet. The default is to interpret all numbers as numeric functions in an equation. The only way to fix this in a text document (and I have tried every other option I could think of) is to declare the number as a field entry by using a non numeric indicator. In other words put an ' apostrophy in front of the number

for instance

1. This is a numeric entry
'1. This is a non numeric entry

I would think this would be the case when editing (removing) hyperlinks

The woman caught in adultery

The story of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:3-11 has been the subject of debate as to whether it should have been included in the scripture. Due to not appearing in all versions of the original text. I came across something quite interesting when reading the Early Church Fathers.

Papias [A.D. 70-155.] has the credit of association with Polycarp, in the friendship of St. John himself, and of “others who had seen the Lord.” Although only a small fragment of his writing exists one thing that points to the fact that the story of the adulterer may be scripture is his statement:

Matthew put together the oracles [of the Lord] in the Hebrew language, and each one interpreted them as best he could... And he also gives another story of a woman who was accused of many sins before the Lord, which is to be found in the Gospel according to the Hebrews

This may point to the story in John 8:3-11.
In another part of the forum I read the best answer given >

In verse 6 it says He stooped , and with his finger wrote on the ground !!

In verse 7 , Jesus , He that is without sin , cast the first STONE !!

And in verse 8 stooped down and WROTE on the ground !!

And again stooped and wrote there SINS

And verse 9 says , being convicted , they left the Eldest to unto the last .

By the way the NUMBER 7 , means is associated with Devine Blessing and REST !!

And numbers is a big part of te bible !!
