Aus Increases Minimum Wage by 3.75%

I just read some data saying 36% of Australian households are currently experiencing food insecurity. I wonder whether this will be enough to make any dent in that...
Unfortunately we're caught between a rock and a hard place. If wages were increased more there is a risk the extra spending will push inflation up with a negative impact on mortgage interest rates and rents. We appear to be catching up with wage stagnation and the coming tax cuts may help. Putting the squeeze on Coles and Woollies to shame them into being a little more cautious about price increases may also help.

There seems to be broad agreement among economists that the current minimum wage increase is unlikely to drive inflation, but a bigger increase may put us back on the inflation treadmill.

Hearing the voice of God on certain topics

Hi,

So after some observations, some claims they hear the voice of God, but now I have my doubts,
"Test all things; hold fast what is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:21)
sometimes some of them say that to put themselves above you, they kinda imply: " I can hear the voice of God you not, so you better listen to me"
"nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." (1 Peter 5:3)

Part of our example is >

"be clothed with humility" (in 1 Peter 5:5)
I am honest to myself, I never really heard the voice of God, what I do is, I read the bible and listen to other people and then I formulate what I think the voice of God is.
Well, the voice of God might have told you to do this!

But he does not mean for you to get isolated with your own understandings and ways and possibly then getting bitter that others don't accept what you are saying.
Some things are easy, do not steal, do not fornicate, do not murder etc, some things are not that easy,
What is really good is not only "hard", but it is impossible without God.
like the 3 topics mentioned below.

Topic: how should the church be organized ? what is God's opinion regarding this ?
possibilities are: elder board, one man at the top decides everything, democratic meaning the members of the church decides etc etc.
Most of all, we need example leaders, as Paul describes in 1 Timothy 3:1-10. And be sure to pray about what God's leaders have us doing . . . be willing, if they are of God. And God will encourage and guide us to obey leadership which He approves.
Each type of church organisation claiming they heard the voice of God, really I have my doubts now.
God is our Father; so He is personal with each of us . . . not silent, but He is gentle and humble and quiet. So we need, then, to not let noisy stuff in us keep us from hearing and *sensing* Him in us.
Personally I think elder board is best church organisation.
It *can* be.
Another Topic: Should churches publish financial transparancy what happens to the collected money ? what is God opinion regarding this ?
That can be lording over, plus not trusting their people.
Another topic: which denomination is right, which denomination has heard the voice of God ? Every denomination claiming they have heard right from God, the others wrong.
In a group naming Jesus there can be the ones who make noise, and who claim they speak for everyone in their group. Meanwhile others grow and mature in Jesus, and then they discover so better than what their group told them, that they were able to believe while they were immature enough to be fooled.

So, wherever you are, be ready to discover who the mature example people are. They could be sitting in the back row.

Legal experts decried what they called the 'weaponization' of criminal justice to stop Donald Trump from being elected president

Read the article. There are others besides Dershowitz. By the way, according to Dershowitz, he has never voted for Trump. Dershowitz has always in the past voted for Democratic Party politicians if I recall correctly what I have heard him says.
Dershowitz is a defense attorney. He isn't a prosecutor. He's never been a prosecutor. So, it's hardly a surprise to find he sides with the defense in any legal analysis.

Besides...it would behoove him to curry Trump's favor. You never know when Trump will need a new defense attorney. Especially one who handles appeals as often as Alan has.

One Cup Of Salvation And Wrath

1 Corinthians 10:

15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the

communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break,

is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body;

for we all partake of that one bread.

18 Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of

the sacrifices partakers of the altar?

19 What am I saying then? That an idol is anything,

or what is offered to idols is anything?

20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice

they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not

want you to have fellowship with demons.

21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and

the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s

table and of the table of demons.

22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?

This Is the Only Way You Should Cut an Avocado...

Learn how to cut an avocado into quarters—and remove the pit without a wielding a sharp knife

The first time I ever saw someone’s method for how to cut an avocado, I had ordered tableside guacamole at a restaurant. The server sliced the fruit in half, removed the pit with a sharp knife and then spooned the fruit into a bowl. I saw countless people do it this way—Food Network stars, cookbook manuals and my own parents. I always figured that scooping the fruit from the flesh was the only way to do it.
Luckily, there’s a better way to cut an avocado! This method makes it easy to peel the skin from an avocado for beautiful quarters, which makes it easier for you to eat an avocado every day. Here’s what you need to know.

How to cut an avocado the right way

What you’ll need

  • Ripe avocado
  • Sharp kitchen knife

Directions

Continued below.
Or, we can use AI for this (disclaimer, double check with other sources).

Mistral 7B-v0.3 AI Response:

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to cut an avocado:

1. Wash the avocado under running water and dry it with a clean towel or cloth. You don't need to peel the skin before cutting.

2. Place the avocado on a stable, flat surface with the stem facing upward.

3. Insert the point of a sharp knife into the avocado lengthwise, about halfway through the fruit (along one of its long sides). Rotate the knife around the seed to score it evenly all the way around. Twist the two halves gently to separate them.

4. Tap the pit firmly against the side of your cutting board to remove it from one half of the avocado. Alternatively, use the back of a spoon to push the pit out of the hollow in the avocado.

5. Gently tapping the rounded edge of the knife blade, carefully pry open the halved avocado so that the exposed flesh remains intact.

6. To slice each half into sections, insert the tip of the knife at an angle along the inner curvature of the avocado half, then move it across to the other side while keeping the knife parallel to the cutting board. Repeat this process until you have four to six sections per half. Be careful not to apply too much pressure as avocados can be quite fragile.

7. If desired, you can now twist and lift off individual slices for serving, or leave the sections attached within their halves if you prefer. Enjoy!

Are You Unapproachable?

Oh I didn't assume you were upset, I said 'if' you were upset.
Then I stand corrected and will amend my reply to say, "Since my emotional state has nothing to do with this discussion, assuming my being upset (or not) is irrelevant... and there is no reason to be sorry for conditions other than your own. In the future, if respect of others is genuinely the goal, then it best to simply keep the posts topical and about the posts, not the posters." Predicating, "I'm sorry" on the potential condition of someone else's emotions is disrespectful (whether I feel disrespected by it personally or not) of both parties. It is, therefore, best to leave such comments out of any discussion unless and until an objectively verifiable wrongdoing has occurred.

This op is specifically about those "teaching the scriptures who is unapproachable... not willing to have his words tested against scripture."
No, I'm not unapproachable.
Then the op does not apply to you ;).
The scripture I quoted was one I thought defined testing as examining.
Does Acts 17:11 actually define "tested" as the op intends the word to be used?
I'm sorry if you're upset with me. I always try my best to be loving and respectful with my posts.
What does that have to do with those teaching scripture who are unapproachable and no willing to have their words tested against scripture? What does any real or perceived anger on my part have to do with the op? What does any conditional "I'm sorry" have to do with this op? What does anyone's best efforts to be loving and respectful have to do with this op?

So...... let's bring this exchange back to the op .

The opening post does not define "tested," in any manner by which we might discuss the matter cohesively and cogently. Simply quoting verse that use the word "tested" or "testing" does not actually define the term, especially since the Greek maintains two or three different options and our English word does not differentiate the distinctions. How then can we discuss those teaching scripture with an unwillingness to have their own words tested against scripture? The Bereans examined the scriptures after hearing Paul teach but there's nothing stated in Acts 17:11 (or the larger narrative) stating Paul permitted his words to be "tested," in the sense their veracity would be questioned, doubted, disregarded, or disdained. Paul had very decisive words for those who disagreed with him. He was "unapproachable," in that regard but his unapproachability was not an indication of error. He was, instead, completely correct and not untrustworthy; nor was he a cult leader (although some of the Jews may have thought otherwise). The op, in some ways, is correct, but because of the problem of ambiguity the op is in need of clarification and since the op "teaches the scriptures," an opportunity exists for this op to serve as an object lesson wherein the discussion itself serves to clarify the matter and potentially prove the veracity of the op.

Does God want movie theaters to survive?

A meditation on the 2024 Memorial Day box-office disaster and the future of movies in American mass culture

This is the question that I have been thinking about ever since Memorial Day: What role do movie theaters play in God’s glorious and fallen creation?

Yes, that’s a strange question. Let me explain.

Back in my professor days when I taught Introduction to Mass Communication 101, I explained the whole “technology shapes culture” equation (again, think “the medium is the message”) by asking a series of questions that went something like this.

Is reading the epic that is “The Lord of the Rings”by J.R.R. Tolkien the same thing as viewing the Peter Jackson movies (let’s say one at a time) in theaters? The question is whether the content of this classic, in the printed word, changed when it was adapted into a visual medium for theater screens.

The answer, obviously, is “Yes” — even with talented screenwriters and a director who sincerely wanted to honor the author’s vision of the story.

Let’s keep going. Is seeing the LOTR films in a packed theater, on a big screen, the same thing as watching the movies on your couch at home on a television screen? I would say, “No.” Let’s push this equation even further: What about watching LOTR on your smartphone? Would that change the content again?

On one level, the movies would be the same. But what about the reality of the experience? What about the impact of the story on the viewer, in terms of the images (large and small) and the sound track? (If you are reading this post on a smartphone, CLICK HERE and think about that.)

What about the summer classic that is “Jaws”?

Continued below.
The Bible said nothing for or against about movie theaters, so God is okay with the facilities. Just use discernment to choose the right movies.

So, what do you call a movie theater that promotes sex, drugs and lust?: A SINema. ;)

I do not typically use this website, but it has useful info on discernment:

What is the longest period of Time Israel as country existed without being colonized by another country?

Hey guys, it turns out 80 years is a thing. It's called the 8 decade curse of Israel or 80 year curse. Israel as a nation seems to only have been intact and not separated between Judah, Israel, etc or under any kind of vassal arrangement for under 80 years. The prophetic significance of this could be huge if they are foreshadows of Christ second coming/ Jacob's trouble. We know the bible often does foreshadowing, like Joseph or Moses being a foreshadow of Christ. It's in intriguing idea.

10 Key reasons today’s marriages fail and how to avoid them

Here's how to make sure your marriage can thrive despite all the difficulties it may encounter.

The vast majority of people enter into marriage with the intention that it will last a lifetime. However, according to Forbes Advisor, the rate of couples divorcing in the United States is 43% for first-time marriages. Subsequent marriages tend to fail at an even higher rate.

This number is obviously alarming, but it in part in may reflect some of the challenges that couples today face, often brought on by new technologies and a world that has grown “smaller” as a result, but also less stable.

Here are some of the stresses and strains couples are under, and some ways to overcome them.

How did Satan seduce Eve?

The seduction of Eve by Satan in the Book of Genesis is captivating and rich in symbolism and moral implications. The story unfolds in Genesis 3, where Satan, in the form of a serpent, engages Eve in conversation, ultimately leading her to eat the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Here's an analysis of the seduction following the verses of Genesis;
Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree wasgood for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Manipulation through Doubt: Satan begins his temptation by casting doubt on God's commandment not to eat from the tree. He asks Eve, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" (Genesis 3:1). By subtly distorting God's words, he plants seeds of uncertainty in Eve's mind, making her question the clarity and fairness of God's instructions.
Appeal to Desire: After sowing doubt, Satan appeals to Eve's desires. He tells her that by eating the fruit, her eyes will be opened, and she will become like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3:5). This promise of elevated status and knowledge is enticing, appealing to Eve's ambition and curiosity.
Deception and Manipulation: Satan manipulates the truth to deceive Eve. He suggests that God is withholding something valuable from her, painting Him as restrictive and unjust. This distortion of truth plays on Eve's emotions and fosters a sense of rebellion against God's authority.
False Justification: Eve succumbs to temptation partly due to Satan's false justification of disobedience. He implies that disobeying God's command will lead to positive outcomes, such as enlightenment and empowerment. This false reasoning clouds Eve's judgment, leading her to prioritize her desires over obedience to God.
Sense of Autonomy: Satan's temptation offers Eve a sense of autonomy and self-determination. By disobeying God, Eve believes she can assert her independence and define her own destiny. This appeal to autonomy fuels her decision to eat the fruit, as she desires to be in control of her own fate.
Exploitation of Vulnerability: Satan exploits Eve's vulnerability by targeting her curiosity, ambition, and desire for knowledge. He capitalizes on her moment of weakness, manipulating her into making a decision that ultimately leads to the fall of humanity.
Satan's seduction of Eve in Genesis is a complex interplay of doubt, desire, manipulation, and false justification. Through cunning deception and the exploitation of Eve's vulnerabilities, Satan leads her astray. This illustrates the timeless struggle between temptation and obedience, and the consequences of yielding to sin.
Understanding how Satan seduced Eve in Genesis is important even today. It shows us how temptation works and helps us see through deceitful tactics. By knowing these things, we can make smarter choices and stay true to God's words in our everyday lives.
Blessings
Temptation and deception always begins within, unseen and often unperceived

Eve technically sinned before she ate, but we can't really count sins against either Adam or Eve per 2 Cor 5:19

So who is left to look at in the equation?
Mark 4:15 was real for both of them and that places Satan internally in them both

It's quite pointless to erase Satan out of the equation and only blame Adam and Eve when the real culprit is staring us all in the face. Internally that is

The Divine Blood Type: Revealed by "Coincidence" of Eucharistic Miracles?

Do we know Jesus’ blood type?

An amazing “coincidence” between Eucharistic miracles and relics from the life of Jesus Christ suggests that we might.

In the eighth century, a Basilian priest in Lanciano, Italy who doubted the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, was offering Mass when the Eucharist miraculously turned into natural flesh and blood.

You can still see the non-decomposing flesh and blood in the Church of San Francesco today.

In the 1970s and ’80s, some of the flesh and blood from this miracle was studied by scientists, who, among other things, found the blood was AB.

Interesting, right?

In the 13th century (500 years after the miracle of Lanciano), another priest doubting the truth of the Real Presence also experienced a Eucharistic miracle: the host started bleeding all over his corporal (a cloth used in the liturgy). You can still see the cloth on display in the Cathedral of Orvieto.

Scientific testing of this cloth in the mid-1990s showed that the blood was AB as well.

Continued below.
I made a post about this, and also used some humor as well, cos Eucharistic Miracles are awesome, and showcase God's presence in the host as Jesus.

Did Jesus Mess Up a Prophecy?

Alex, I understand where you are coming from. But this article is extremely helpful to many. Let’s not forget we are all called to different tasks within the Body of Christ. :)
That is true. Romans says we all have different gifts. Prophesy is not my cup of tea, cos everyone disagrees on it. We will find out who is right (pretrib, mid, posttrib, preterist and the futurists), when we pass away and meet Jesus in Heaven. I am not sure which "-ist" I am.

Romans 12:4-8 (NIV): "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully."

Ex-Lesbian: Divine Grace is Real

Today is the first of June, the month that Church dedicates to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Since so many people outside the Catholic world haven’t any knowledge of the liturgical year, much less how one can live according to it, they will be inundated with “pride” memorabilia all month long. For this reason, I have decided to make known my disdain.

By now, very few may not know that I have long left the homosexual lifestyle (eight years). I take no credit, seeing how long I lived it, knowing that each time I engaged in homosexual acts, I greatly offended God, yet continued in the mire for as long as I did. Nothing other than the Grace of God liberated me from my disordered passions. (I always knew that every relationship I was in would fail if I kept loving this Invisible God. Perhaps it was the hypocrisy of claiming to love God while living a life I knew He forbade. Yet, regardless of the hurt I’d experienced, I knew I couldn’t forsake Him; I would not!) There are many examples I can give and instances that prove that if one doesn’t entirely reject God, hope remains. The first step was finally submitting to His will and renouncing my own. The last eight years have been a quest to grow deeper in my Faith and to come to know, love, and serve this God I knew loved and watched over me all my life. In so doing, He has led me to more profound knowledge and understanding of Himself and myself. Without knowledge of God, it is impossible to know oneself.

The way of salvation

Last summer. I had the second unit on Hutter too but I've not finished that. Sort of became moot when the NALC Secretary General refused to certify me. There's still one regional dean who recognizes me and uses me despite the protestations. I spoke to Bishop Robbie on the phone once.
Oh, that’s very interesting! Thank you for sharing!

I’m not always aware of what that goes on in America as I’m in the UK and tasked with missions to Asia. But I’m very sorry to hear about the predicament. Still, I’m glad to hear you’re recognised! Thanks be to God!

If there’s anything I can help with in any way, please feel free to reach out! You have my prayers. The peace, love, and blessings of our Lord to you and yours and on your ministry!

An Ordinariate for Traditional Catholics? An interview with Father de Blignières

Considering the new situation created by the motu proprio Traditionis custodes and the documents of the Dicastery for Divine Worship in 2021, Father Louis-Marie de Blignières proposes the establishment of a "traditional ordinariate", i.e., in canonical terms, an ecclesiastical circumscription dedicated to the ancient Latin rite. This type of structure (like military ordinariates, ex-Anglican ordinariates or Eastern Catholic eparchies) consists of a group of faithful served by a clergy, headed by a prelate appointed by the Holy See. The "traditional ordinariate" would offer a stable structure for Catholic faithful wishing to receive the sacraments according to traditional forms.

The former prior of the Fraternity of Saint Vincent Ferrer is interviewed on this subject in the FSSP magazine Tu es Petrus :

Why are you proposing the creation of an ecclesiastical circumscription for the Ancient Latin Rite?
