  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Busy day - 2 rallies, one in Wisconsin and one in Michigan

I'm just suggesting that if one is pro-life, one should promote things that don't make it easier for abortion to happen, and not support things that end up harming pro-life causes.

Sometimes, government isn't the answer. In the case of abortion, it turned out that changing hearts and minds was the answer.
If one loves God, they should do things that don’t go against His word, ie supporting pro-abortion candidates.

Hydrothermal Vents (Underwater volcanoes)

I like the snails that live on the hydrothermal vents in the Indian Ocean.
Chrysomallon squamiferum, also called the volcano snail, the iron snail or the scaly footed snail, they're the only animal in known existence to absorb iron metal ions from the sea water and the vents to form iron sulfide armour basically on their bodies.

View attachment 353543

Nasty looking critters, but also very cool. They can come in black, white, or gold, depending on the ratio of iron, sulfide, pyrite and gregite in the vent water.

These snails look so alien, but so cool.

What was Satan thinking in the Crucifixion?

What was Pharoah thinking when Egypt went through the 9 plagues? Why didn't he let the Israelites go?

Pharaoh hardened his heart, and God hardened his heart. He was stubborn and proud. God used him to bring about the exodus and miracles.

Satan knew what Jesus told his disciples. Matthew 16:

21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
Shouldn't Satan have worked against the fulfillment of the crucifixion?

Like Pharaoh, Satan was prideful. He was not being logical. God used him to bring the crucifixion about. God put Satan to shame.

Col 2:

13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
What was Satan thinking in the Crucifixion?

He wasn't thinking logically.

Sanders hits at Cornel West over criticism of Biden

Republicans scrambled to get Cornel West on the Arizona ballot.

A group of lawyers with deep ties to the Republican Party scrambled over the weekend to rescue an effort to get independent presidential candidate Cornel West on the Arizona ballot, offering one of the clearest examples yet of the GOP’s extensive involvement in furthering the left-wing academic’s long-shot bid.

Is smoking tobacco a sin?

What is the real reason why you are smoking, if you are?

Is it because you consider it to be a good financial investment . . . now of maybe ten dollars a pack?

Is it because the second-hand smoke can damage a child or other adults?

Are you trying to set a good example for children so they can find out if they get addicted or not?

Or are you using the scent of the smoke on your clothing so people can smell you with that perfume?

Are you trying to fumigate your indoor relaxation space? Maybe that could work; there could be bugs that smell the smoke and know enough to get away from it . . . get outdoors!!

Or, are you trying to relax with the help of the cigarette?

In case you are doing it to relax, it could be that relaxation is the relief you feel when you satisfy your craving of being addicted to it.

Our Apostle Paul says >

"All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." (in 1 Corinthians 6:12)

Jesus REBUKED the wind which had no ear to listen

Mark 4:

39a He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves.
Did the wind and the waves understand the word of Jesus, or was that a case of personification?

I think that was more than just simple personification. In the OT, God let Satan perform some supernatural destructions, Job 1:

12 the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he [Job] has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Satan destroyed Job's properties, and his children were next:

18 While he was yet speaking, there came another [messenger] and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and behold, a great wind came across the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people, and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you.”
Satan, an intelligent being, was behind that destructive wind.

On another occasion, Mark 8:

33b [Jesus] rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”
Horizontally, Jesus rebuked Peter; vertically, he rebuked Satan as well.

Similar phraseology is used in Mark 4:

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
I think Satan was behind this destructive force. Horizontally, Jesus rebuked the wind and the waves; vertically, he rebuked Satan.

Pro-life Democrats counter Planned Parenthood's mobile abortion clinic at DNC

Democrats for Life of America released a statement Saturday urging fellow party members to "stop doing business with Planned Parenthood" and abortion activist groups and return to what the group believes are the party's "true roots," which include standing up for the "little guy" and the vulnerable.
And they were promptly ignored.

The owner SHALL accept the oath

Le 19:

12 You shall not swear by my name falsely, and so profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.
In ancient Israelite society, oaths were taken seriously.

An example in Ex 22:

10 If a man gives a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any other animal to be cared for by his neighbor, but it dies or is injured or stolen while no one is watching,
no witnesses

11 an oath before the LORD shall be made between the parties to determine whether or not the man has taken his neighbor’s property. The owner shall accept the oath and require no restitution.
The owner assumed the oath as the truth unless proven otherwise.

12 But if the animal was actually stolen from the neighbor, he must make restitution to the owner.
What was the consequence if someone swore falsely?

He profaned the name of the Lord. He sinned not only against the man whom he wronged but also against God. There was reciprocal punishment for false witnesses. De 19:

18 The judges shall inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely, 19 then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. 20 And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you. 21 Your eye shall not pity. It shall be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
In ancient Israelite society, oaths were taken very seriously.

The Need to interpret the Genesis creation account literally.

And you believe that includes a 6 day creation?
Notice that what I believe does not matter , nor what you believe, nor what any reader believes.--- what God Says remains unchanged. Forever.
Turn to the Creator and Trust Him , concerning all things, everything..... He Alone is Perfectly Faithful and Eternally Unchanging.

1,000-Year-Old Medieval Catholic Church Unearthed Near Munich During Construction

Archaeologists have uncovered the remains of a long-forgotten medieval Catholic church near Munich, Germany.

The discovery was made during routine construction work by the Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) in Oberschleißheim, a suburb north of Munich. The find is thought to date back to between the 9th and 13th centuries.

The excavation revealed the foundations of a church, along with traces of several medieval structures, including houses, ovens, pit houses, and earth cellars. Approximately 20 human burials were found surrounding the church, with another burial pit located beneath the church’s former floor. These types of burials, particularly those within the church, were reserved for high-status individuals, a rarity during the early Middle Ages.

Dr. Jochen Haberstroh, Deputy Head of the Department of Archaeological Heritage at the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection, told Medievalists that “the discovery of this settlement helps us better understand the history of the region during the time of Munich’s founding.”

Weird feelings

"Where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there." (James 3:16)

So, from this I can see that if I am getting confused, then I could be seeking self somehow so I am not with God the way we can be.

And I have seen how certain people can isolate themselves, then be spinning because they do not have stability in sharing with God

*and with His people* >

God has things so we need to be sharing and caring with other children of God.

Gaetz says he will force vote to oust McCarthy as House speaker

‘Mean girl on a revenge tour’: Kevin McCarthy has knives out for his ‘Gaetz 8’ tormentors

“He’s acting like a mean girl on a revenge tour,” Mace told Raw Story.

Gaetz faces primary challenge amid McCarthy revenge tour

Gaetz is the last of the anti-McCarthy GOP group running for reelection in a primary this year. Only one of them, Rep. Bob Good (Va.), has lost their primary, and that was after former president Donald Trump endorsed his opponent, citing other reasons. Others, such as Reps. Ken Buck (Colo.) and Matt Rosendale (Mont.), chose not to run for reelection.

Gaetz’s sole opponent is Aaron Dimmock, a retired Navy officer whom Gaetz quickly attacked over his background working in diversity training. Gaetz also has run ads playing up his closeness with Trump, who has endorsed him.

“This is Donald Trump’s party, and I’m a Donald Trump Republican,” one ad shows Gaetz proclaiming at a rally.

So far that seems to be nothing but the truth, particularly with the RNC packed with Trump relatives and followers to rubber stamp Trump's details-lite platform that departs from decades of GOP norms. That should give pause to any Republicans who honor what the GOP used to stand for.

ETA: Gaetz won his primary.

Did Esau or Jacob sin inside their mother's womb?

Sand tiger sharks practice intrauterine cannibalism:

as the sharks develop their embryonic teeth, they start to eat the other embryos, killing their unborn brothers and sisters, as well as the unfertilized eggs. It's survival of the fittest in the womb until only one shark remains.
Sharks have no conscience before God. Sin does not apply to them.

Genesis 25:

21 Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. 23 And the LORD said to her,
“Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you shall be divided; the one shall be stronger than the other, the older shall serve the younger.”
24 When her days to give birth were completed, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25 The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out with his hand holding Esau’s heel, so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.
Did Esau or Jacob sin in that scenario?

I don't think so. Ro 9:

10b when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac, 11 though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—
Paul didn't think the babies struggling inside Rebekah's womb should be label as good or bad.

in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—
Paul discussed God's sovereign election, not the moral status of unborn children.

12 she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”
Paul quoted Malachi 1:

2 “I have loved you,” says the LORD. But you say, “How have you loved us?” “Is not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the LORD. “Yet I have loved Jacob 3but Esau I have hated. I have laid waste his hill country and left his heritage to jackals of the desert.”
Neither Esau nor Jacob sinned before or while they were being born. Esau sinned after he was born after his conscience was accountable to God. Particularly, he sold his firstborn birthright to Jacob. That was a grievous sin.
