In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Hungary passes law banning Pride events

Budapest mayor charged over his calls for people to defy Hungary’s Pride ban

Gergely Karácsony urged people to take to streets [last] June in pushback against Orbán government’s attack on rights

Prosecutors in Hungary have filed charges against the progressive mayor of Budapest, seeking to fine him months after hundreds of thousands of people heeded his call to take to the streets in defiance of the government’s ban on Pride.

The June march made headlines around the world after the ruling Fidesz party, led by the rightwing populist prime minister, Viktor Orbán, backed legislation that created a legal basis for Pride to be banned, citing a widely criticised need to protect children.

A record number of people – including Hungarians from across the country and dozens of MEPs and officials from across Europe – turned up, transforming the march into a potent symbol of pushback against Orbán and his government’s steady rollback of rights.

On Wednesday, prosecutors said Karácsony had “organised and led a public gathering despite the police ban”, adding in a statement that they were proposing “that the court impose a fine on the defendant in a summary judgment without a trial”. The statement did not detail the amount of the fine.

Ancient and New Wisdom on AI, One Year After ‘Antiqua et Nova’...

Amid rapid advances in artificial intelligence, the Vatican’s 2025 note ‘Antiqua et Nova’ draws a clear distinction between technological power and human intelligence.

Last year, the Vatican issued Antiqua et Nova, examining the relationship of artificial and human intelligence. The document offers timely insights that can help us appreciate the contributions AI can make to society, as well as the moral dangers presented by this new phenomenon.

The idea that technology can imitate and surpass the power of the human mind, while popular in this age of artificial intelligence, is not new. The 18th-century French philosopher Julien de La Mettrie famously asserted that man is no different from a machine. The century in which he lived witnessed various attempts to produce “automatons,” or mechanical devices, that could imitate human actions.

The development of digital computing in the mid-20th century gave renewed confidence to the belief in the power of technology to replicate human behavior.

In a 1950 paper, English mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing devised a famous test — now known as the “Turing Test” — as a way of assessing whether machines can replicate human intelligence. He predicted that by the end of the century, it would be possible to program computers so that an interrogator would not have more than a 70% chance of distinguishing a human from a computer after five minutes of questioning.

Depressing Music for the depressed

What do I do
With all the children's clothes?
Such tiny things
That still smell of them
And the footprints
In the hallway
Onto my knees
Scrub them away
Heartwrenching! Truly!

...I think songs like these, that open the doors to alternate views one may have never considered, while sad and depressing, helps us appreciate more the things we do have in life.

And I saw another angel ascending from the east (anatole + helios), having the seal of the living God...

Peace in Christ.

Again, the lightning comes out of the “east”.

The “east” are His people….the 144,000…who will have His manifest presence in their mortal bodies which will attract the people of the outside world who are in deep darkness in the “west”….the “great multitude” who will see His presence shine through the 144,000.

Mat 24:27 K
(27) For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming (PRESENCE) of the Son of man be.

In Revelation 7:2, John saw an angel ascending from the EAST having the seal of the living God.

“ east” are the Greek words: “Anatole” and “helios”.

anatolē - From G393; a rising of light, that is, dawn (figuratively); by implication the east (also in plural): - dayspring, east, rising.

hēlios - From ἕλη helē (a ray; perhaps akin to the alternate of G138); the sun; by implication light: - + east, sun.

Rev 7:1-4
(1) And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

(2) And I saw another angel ascending from the east (anatole + helios), having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,

(3) Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.

John HEARD the number of them which were sealed: 144,000

(4) And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

This is His people …the 144,000…who HEAR the Word of Truth and BELIEVE and are SEALED.

Eph 1:12-14
(12) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
(13) In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of the promise,

(14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

And then “after”…or amid… this John SAW (I beheld and lo) a great multitude which no man could number. John HEARD the number (144,000) that were sealed but he SAW the great multitude which no man could number.

This “great multitude” are the people of the outside world of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues who will SEE the glory of the Lord shine through us….through the 144,000.

They stand “before”..that is, in the face... of the throne and in the face of the Lamb. We….the 144,000…with “open face”….shine His glory to them. They see our face…they see His glory that will shine towards them….much like Moses’s face did shine.

The great multitude which no man could number are clothed with white robes. You can see this will be a dense “cloud” of people.

Rev 7:9-10
(9) After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before (in the FACE of) the throne, and before (in the FACE of) the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

We…the 144,000…are to be to the praise of His glory as the great multitude will then praise God.

(10) And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

The lightning shines from the east to the west…..and there will be “thunder” coming from the “great multitude” as they will then praise God (the praise of His glory).

Rev 19:5-6 KJV
(5) And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

(6) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

We…the 144,000….are the “order” or troop of Christ the firstfruits. The “great multitude” are the 2nd troop of people of the outside world who are sitting in deep spiritual darkness. They are Christ’s at His PRESENCE of which the first group (the 144,000, Christ the firstfruits) manifest to them who will SEE Him through us.

1Co 15:23-24 KJV
(23) But every man in his own order (troop, set): Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming (PRESENCE).

(24) Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

John Allen Jr., author and longtime Vatican reporter, dies at 61

ROME – A funeral Mass was celebrated for John L. Allen Jr. on Monday in Sant’Eugenio basilica in Rome.

The legendary Vatican beat reporter and Church affairs analyst died Thursday, January 22, two days after his 61st birthday, following a lengthy – and by every account heroic – battle with cancer.

The principal celebrant was Father John Wauck, an American priest of Opus Dei and longtime friend of Allen, to whom Wauck had given the Anointing of the Sick only an hour or so before.

Eight priests concelebrated, among them Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, the long-serving head of the Vatican press office, Vatican television service, and Vatican Radio.

3 Ways to Become Childlike to Enter Heaven

Jesus emphasizes that, no matter what we do, endure, or become as Christians, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven without becoming like little children. Why is this childlikeness an indispensable requirement to enter the kingdom of God?

What instruments do you play?

I play acoustic guitar, some bass and piano. Oh an the harp. I like rythm and blues. I get jealous of those who can play lead lol. But I most definitely love a good lead. Derek Trucks being one of my favorites.

Oh and just out of interest I have done some recording. What do you think of virtual instruments. I know its cheating a bit. But it does allow you to play all sorts of instruments. Though limited in its realness. Nothing like the real thing.

In Spirit and In Truth

John 4:21-26 NASB1995: Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.”

If you have not read this story before, I encourage you to read it in its full context (John 4:1-42), but I will try to summarize it for you here:

Jesus was on his way to Galilee, and he had to pass through Samaria. Now, traditionally Jews had no dealings with Samaritans who were a mixed race of Jews and Gentiles. The Jews traditionally despised the Samaritans, and often they would go around Samaria rather than to walk through it, from what I understand. So for Jesus to walk through Samaria, and then to have a conversation with a Samaritan woman at a well was highly unusual. But he asked her for a drink of water, and then they talked for a little while.

And Jesus used this opportunity to share with her the message of the gospel, essentially. And he used the subject of water as a catalyst to speak to her of living water which has to do with our salvation from sin and our eternal life with God and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives via biblical faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives, in death to sin and in walks of obedience to our Lord’s commands, all in the power of God. This water refreshes us spiritually and it makes us new in Christ Jesus.

Then Jesus told the woman to go call her husband, fully knowing that she had no husband, that she had had five husbands, and the man she was living with presently was not her husband. And after she confessed to him that she had no husband, Jesus declared to her what he knew of her history. So she perceived that he must be a prophet. And following that she stated that her people’s fathers worshipped in the mountain where she was located, but the Jews claimed that only in Jerusalem was the place of worship of God.

What Jesus said to her next is very relevant to our lives today and to the church today. For, when Jesus Christ died on that cross, and he rose from the dead, and he ascended back to his Father in heaven, and he sent his Holy Spirit to indwell his followers, the physical Jewish temple of God was no longer the holy temple of God. Now God, by his Spirit, lives within all who believe in Jesus Christ, and we now are the temple of God. Absolutely no physical building is “the church,” but we who believe in Jesus are the church.

So, we do not have to go to any specific location to worship God. We now worship him in spirit and in truth in any location or day of the week or time of day. For he dwells within us, his body. So no building called “church” is “the house of God.” We who believe in Jesus Christ are the house of God. No room in those physical buildings called “church” is the sanctuary of God, and we are not standing on holy ground when we enter into a physical building or into a particular room in that building, which is not of God, but of man.

So please understand that the church is not a place you go to and then you leave until you go back the next week. The church is the body of Christ who by faith in Jesus Christ were crucified with Christ in death to sin, and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin but as servants of righteousness in walks of obedience to our Lord, by his grace and in his power. And we can meet together anywhere, even on the internet, or via a phone call, or via a video chat. Meeting is what matters.

But not just the fact that we meet together, but with what purpose we gather together, whether or not our purpose is biblical. For the Scriptures teach that we are all ministers, and that we all are to minister to one another, and we all are to be teaching, counseling, exhorting, and encouraging one another in our walks of faith in obedience to our Lord and away from all that is worldly and fleshly and sinful. And we are to be warning each other against all that is false so we can follow after the truth.

As the Deer

By Martin J. Nystrom
Based off Psalm 42:1

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You

Proof of mathematical classes P=NP using Religion

The P versus NP problem is a major unsolved problem in theoretical computer science. Informally, it asks whether every problem whose solution can be quickly verified can also be quickly solved.

To cite Preprint

most simple solution to that or any problem: asking Jesus Christ.
Why? He knows all perfectly. Why?
All-knowing Source of Life gave us wisdom. You cannot know all and
at the same time doubt that the All-knowing One exists. One's existence
can explain how Prof. Srinivasa Ramanujan got his insights.

From this follows the equality P=NP of classes
as solution to another Millennium Prize problem.
The proof of Riemann Hypothesis is first step of proving the
generalized Riemann hypothesis; indeed, general L(s)-function
is proportional to Riemann's zeta(s) function: L(s) = tau(s) zeta(s).

Then, at least some zeroes of zeta-function are zeroes of the
L-function. If however, some zeroes of the L-function
are off the critical line Re(s)=1/2, they are zeroes of the coefficient tau(s).

Such functional precision means that tau(s) acts like L(s), but zeta(s) is not 1.

Therefore, proof of Riemann Hypothesis can imply proof of its generalization.
Latter consequence is many special cases of P=NP: Miller-Rabin test runs in polynomial time if general Riemann Hypothesis is true;
as well AKS primality test, Shanks-Tonelli algorithm, Ivanyos-Karpinski-Saxena deterministic algorithm.

That seems similar to something i'm hypothesizing about chess based on my research... at higher levels, it may not be possible to explain winning moves discursively in any form using syntax in a precise manne. Perhaps you can have perfect evaluation, and perfect play, but not both. I'm trying to do more research and reason from analogy from there, at least gesturing towards an answer: it's also possible that the highest truths of something like chess may not be reducile to finite analysis or discrete logic.

Doubts multiplied

Peter2 >
May be the whole of my belief lies in :
the ridicule of Christ on the cross might come from God trying to teach men not to fear looking ridiculous, since Jesus didn't fear to let his messianity look ridicule.

I believe such is God's and Christ's glory.
So that whatever offense, ridiculous or else, they may add to Christ's sufferings, it 'll turn to God's glory
I haven't reached the point of no return, but I suppose that the above quote nevertheless has a testamentary dimension.;)

Here is my motivation:

As truth seems to be less and less accepted these days, in favor of a supposed decorum, I wanted to re-express, in this last thread, my appreciation for the moderators for their flexibility.

The subject is indeed difficult, since I am expressing my feelings, which are that no Muslim would consider republishing the offensive cartoons of Mohammed that led to the beheading of Samuel Paty.

As for me,
I think it would be to God's honor if I republished the satirical representations of the Last Supper by the transvestites at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, if one of them had been beheaded by a christian.
Indeed, the message of the cross is that any humiliation of Jesus, even posthumous, even post-resurrection, is absorbed by the glory of the resurrection.
Thus,
what in my eyes would truly defile the cross would be this possible beheading. The parody of the transvestites, in comparison, is nothing but ignorance.

Conclusion:
My idea of God's honor is diametrically opposed to the idea that Muslims have of the honor of their god.

Protesters storm Home 2 Suites in Minneapolis, one Federal officer injured

I know a DNR officer who single handedly captured several escapees. IIRC, he caught them making their way through a swamp / river basin. They have more authority than many might think.
Those some feisty fish.
