  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

Terrorists have no rights except the right to die immediately.
Geez. And you call yourself a Christian? I bet you’re “pro life” too.
They were people, on a vessel, a vessel filled with drugs,
How do you know they had drugs?
a vessel filled with drugs that they were on, which makes them drug smugglers and the newly minted designation of terrorist. What else would they be?
Fishermen? Migrants? People out enjoying a day on the water? Lots of people use boats. Not just international terrorists and drug traffickers.
My apologies.
Not accepted.
You just come off as having a charmed life, since you seem to be unaware of how drugs ruin countless lives.
And you come off as bloodthirsty. Maybe take a break from the internet? Get some fresh air. This is a really bad look for some of you.

Historical ICE raid in Georgia

I’m sure that the facility will have no problem staffing the 5% of workers lost in this raid…any fines coming for Hyundai USA?
I agree. That just means there are 475 new job opportunities for US citizens in Georgia. Also, I have not heard of any fines for Hyundai USA.

Peace chaplet

Here’s something else I found online:

AI Overview

The St. Dymphna chaplet is inspired by the life and tragic death of Saint Dymphna, who was martyred for refusing her father's incestuous desires, leading to her being venerated as the patron saint of those suffering from mental and emotional disorders. The chaplet serves as a tool for prayer and meditation, offering comfort and a reminder of her courage and resilience.

The life of Saint Dymphna:
  • Early Life & Trauma:
Dymphna's mother died when she was young, causing her father's mental health to decline. In his grief and madness, he attempted to marry his own daughter.

  • Escape and Sanctuary:
To avoid her father's incestuous advances, Dymphna, a devout Christian, fled with her confessor to Gheel, Belgium. There, she built a sanctuary for the sick.

  • Martyrdom:
Her father eventually found her and, when she refused him again, he brutally beheaded her.

  • Veneration:
Dymphna's story led to her becoming a patron saint for those suffering from mental illness, emotional distress, and even those fleeing abusive situations, according to Local Catholic Churches.
Inspiration for the chaplet:
  • A Token of Solace:
The St. Dymphna chaplet is an inspirational token to provide comfort to friends, family, and colleagues who are struggling with mental health.

  • Focusing on Her Virtues:
The chaplet, often featuring 15 beads in honor of her 15 years of life, serves as a focal point for prayer, inviting a deeper connection with her healing grace and unwavering faith.

  • Symbolic Meaning:
The beads can symbolize virtues and acts of resilience, while the medal featuring St. Dymphna's image offers inspiration and a reminder that God designs earthly events for a reason.

  • Connecting with Heaven:
By holding the chaplet and praying the prayers associated with it, individuals are encouraged to renew their faith and find solace in divine love, creating a direct link to Heaven through prayer.

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

Not hard at all to understand, it's not your theology I'm questioning, but your understanding of Ignatius.

I don't have the text in Greek. I'll go with what I have.

It says "things of faith" and "things of unbelief". "Things" sounds to refer to acts that flows from either faith or unbelief not "faith" or "unbelief" itself.
It just doesn’t work for me to put action words in there and come up with something that makes sense. I’m still getting “Faith is not a thing of unbelief and unbelief is not a thing of faith.”

Americans have different legal rights than foreigners narco terrorists cartels.
I agree. Now, how do we tell them apart?

Who is an American and who is a foreigner narco terrorist cartel? How do you know?

Maybe you don’t know this (or you just don’t care) but suspected drug dealers and traffickers and anyone accused of a crime also have rights and protections under our laws. That’s what makes us better than the terrorists
Terrorists have no rights except the right to die immediately.
Are they?

How did you determine their guilt?

Or do you just believe whatever the government says?
They were people, on a vessel, a vessel filled with drugs, a vessel filled with drugs that they were on, which makes them drug smugglers and the newly minted designation of terrorist. What else would they be?
Don’t talk to me like I’m a child. It’s insulting

No person can come to Christ by their own freewill !

My God wants me to love Him of my own free will, and I don't see that contradicted in the Bible. Matthew 12:30-31 30 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a] 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] There is no commandment greater than these.”
That does not speak to unbelievers, that speaks to those who are followers of Christ. How do you know how much God has loved you so you can love others if you haven’t already been the recipient of God’s love?

I used to believe the same thing because I went to a free will church. Then I sat down and read the Bible and was surprised that it didn’t mention free will anywhere but did repeatedly say that it is God who is in charge of ALL areas of salvation. From Him choosing us, to Him drawing us to Himself, to Him giving us saving faith, to Him preserving us to the end.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NASB95) 1 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Here’s the No. 1 fallacy on eternal security

Truth is, I have been responding reasonably well.
You hold a high opinion of yourself.
But I'm kind of getting to the end of this party..
‘Yep. Not surprised.
Part of the problem is that you really don't know that of which you speak. If you've ever studied Catholicism, Catholic and early Church theology as stated at councils or in the writings of great thinkers and the huge wealth of Christian thought in general going centuries back before the Reformation and then up through today in various resources: catechisms and works of theology, you'd know that scripture is not only highly revered but also expertly exegeted by the church and also probably quoted more often than tradition which is also held in high esteem as it's nothing more or less than the lived legacy or experience of the church froon the beginning: the beliefs and practices as received, not as simply speculated about based on the written word alone centuries after the fact.
Which surprises me because you cant exegesis a verse to save your life. Just about every time that I post scripture you don’t address it but instead offer your discourse. I have thoroughly studied the ancient writers, councils, and your catechism. The scriptures are indeed highly regarded but semantically abused and trumped by tradition.
For myself, there's a very good chance that I've spent more time in the Bible than you have.
I doubt that.
And again I used to buy into a lot of the reformed stuff before I got led deeper by a series of circumstances. Before then, I was quite anti-Catholic. Either way, I'm not expecting you to care about my story or be moved to take any deeper look at this point in time.
I do care about your story but I don’t care about the arrogance and pride that you bring to your posts with regards to Catholic teachings. I hate to tell you but ex-Catholics are ex-Catholics for a reason. We don’t just wake up one day and leave the Catholic church for no reason. You deal with it as you will. I don’t want to make you doubt your decisions but you have to understand that the body of Christ extends outside of your church.

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

...if the Secretary of the "War Department" orders the National Guard to kill suspected drug traffickers on American streets, will they too have "deserved it."?

Can't you see where this is going?
Americans have different legal rights than foreigners narco terrorists cartels. But, if you want to continue to surrender to the narco cartels of Mexico and Venezuela, please by all means, be my guest. On the other hand, I believe that the narco cartels responsible for killing more Americans than WW1 & WW2 must be destroyed.

Is This The New Normal?

Musk acted like he was in charge in those meetings far, far more than anyone else in any such meeting with Trump, or Biden, or Obama. There was a reason people referred to him occasionally as the "co-President".
No he didn’t. He acted like he was in charge of DOGE, but in the meeting he just gave his report.

LOL. Nobody but the far left called him “co-president.

A conversation about unity.

What an absurd conclusion to draw.
Your definition of unity is not unity. It is a hostile takeover.

You are of course referring to old testament times, before the coming of Christ.

You expect "Catholic Church" to be in the Old Testament?
Old Testament, New Testament, it’s not in either of them.

Christ fulfilled them, they were not "done away with".
They were for the Jews, not the Gentiles. And yes, I did say fulfilled.

That is an absurd claim. Why did you make it?
You can look back over your previous posts to see why I say that. A work/law is something you must do in order to be saved. And the Catholic Church has a lot of “must do’s” in it.

You might want to examine the passages I quoted.
Those passages are equally applicable to my church.

Christ is the one who builds the Church, he said so - And I [Jesus is the one speaking] tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:18 RSV-CE
According to the context of the whole passage that verse is in, rock could have a number of meanings. For instance, it could mean revelation, since God revealed to Peter who He (Christ) was.

Maybe you don't know this, but hard drugs destroy lives.
Don’t talk to me like I’m a child. It’s insulting.

Maybe you don’t know this (or you just don’t care) but suspected drug dealers and traffickers and anyone accused of a crime also have rights and protections under our laws. That’s what makes us better than the terrorists.
The people operating the vessel were drug smugglers who are guilty of that which I just mentioned.
Are they?

How did you determine their guilt?

Or do you just believe whatever the government says?
