  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. FedNow - Federal Reserve Instant Payment System

The Federal Reserve announces that its new system for instant payments, the FedNow® Service, is now live.

The Federal Reserve on Thursday announced that its new system for instant payments, the FedNow® Service, is now live. Banks and credit unions of all sizes can sign up and use this tool to instantly transfer money for their customers, any time of the day, on any day of the year.

“The Federal Reserve built the FedNow Service to help make everyday payments over the coming years faster and more convenient,” said Federal Reserve Chair Jerome H. Powell. “Over time, as more banks choose to use this new tool, the benefits to individuals and businesses will include enabling a person to immediately receive a paycheck, or a company to instantly access funds when an invoice is paid.”

To start, 35 early-adopting banks and credit unions, as well as the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service, are ready with instant payments capabilities via the FedNow Service. In addition, 16 service providers are ready to support payment processing for banks and credit unions.

When fully available, instant payments will provide substantial benefits for consumers and businesses, such as when rapid access to funds is useful, or when just-in-time payments help manage cash flows in bank accounts. For example, individuals can instantly receive their paychecks and use them the same day, and small businesses can more efficiently manage cash flows without processing delays. Over the coming years, customers of banks and credit unions that sign up for the service should be able to use their financial institution’s mobile app, website, and other interfaces to send instant payments quickly and securely.

As an interbank payment system, the FedNow Service operates alongside other longstanding Federal Reserve payment services such as Fedwire® and FedACH®. The Federal Reserve is committed to working with the more than 9,000 banks and credit unions across the country to support the widespread availability of this service for their customers over time.

DeSantis weighs lawsuit against Bud Light parent over Florida pension fund losses

The 2024 Republican presidential-primary contender said in a letter to state legal officials Thursday and an appearance on Fox News Channel that AB InBev’s Dylan Mulvaney campaign may have “breached legal duties owed to its shareholders” by aligning the brand with “radical social ideologies.”

“We must prudently manage the funds of Florida’s hardworking law enforcement officers, teachers, firefighters, and first responders in a manner that focuses on growing returns, not subsidizing an ideological agenda through woke virtue signaling,” Mr. DeSantis wrote in a letter to Lamar Taylor, the interim director of the State Board of Administration.

Bidens Pressured Burisma Founder into Paying $10 Million Bribe to Get Ukrainian Prosecutor Fired, FBI Source Claims

Senator Grassley and the House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, have been pressing the FBI for an explanation of what, if any, follow-up investigation has been done regarding extensively detailed disclosures that implicate now-President Biden in a $10 million bribery scheme (among other corrupt acts) from a CHS with a track-record of reliability. Thus far, the FBI and its Justice Department superiors have declined to respond to those inquiries.

Is Christianity on the increase?

Hi - I was just wondering if people think that Christianity in the UK is growing again? I only ask because it seems to me that since the whole covid thing people are waking up to realise that there is a lot more evil in this earth than realised. I came to God and Jesus through this realisation and I know other people have as well. Thoughts?

The Second Coming / Return of Messiah in the Tanakh

Anyone who has attempted to witness to Jewish people who do not believe in Jesus have encountered "the list..."

The list which I suspect was assembled by Chabad types to try to debunk Jesus as the Messiah.
  • World peace
  • Returning the Jews to the Holy Land
  • Rebuilding the temple
To which there are easy answers solving them from the Tanakh and showing also the fulfillment in the New Testament.

But one stumped me for many moons... the second coming / return of Messiah in the Tanakh.

There's no lack of references in the New Testament to the second coming... but then it occurred to me (I was shown) that the second coming of Messiah has a unique meaning to the Jews who do not believe in Jesus. The Jews who believe in Jesus and the Gentile converts to faith in Jesus see the second coming in an entirely different way.

The second coming of Jesus involves not only his triumphal return and then judgment but it is also the day of reckoning for the Jews (that they finally cry out to Jesus for salvation). Problem is, it will take having their backs up against the wall of the Armageddon campaign and total annihilation to get them to that point.

Matthew 23:37–39 (KJV)
37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

You will not see me until the second coming which will be for me to rescue you when at long last you cry out to me.

Malachi 3:7 (KJV)
7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

And what Jesus prophesied is found in:

Psalm 118:25–26 (KJV)
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

Hosha nah! (hosanna) Save now!

Will I be punished for accidentally typing small 'g' for God in FB post.

I have some visual impairment so, I cannot see when typing on my cell phone. I talk into the phone.
My friend posted an encouraging update about "God turning good from bad". I replied with a comment about the story of Joseph(which I love)
When Joseph said, "“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good ". i hadn't noticed that it came out as little "g" instead of "G.
I usually try to correct it and make sure I don't make this error, but I made the comment early in the morning.
A lady replied with the reminder "God". Then my friend told me,"I say this in the nicest possible way but you can't spell God with a little 'g'
I know that. I was quite upset as it was publicly made known. I shared with the lady how I was talking into the phone and I didn't do it intentially.
I sent a PM to my friend to remind her again of my visual impairment, etc. She ignored my message.
So I decided to remove my comment, I felt sad and ashamed. I know they were both upset with me.

Then I had a really bad day. Everything went wrong for me. Is God punishing me?

I somehow feel as though I must have committed a very bad sin.
God knows my heart. I didn't mean to do it.

What do you think about this?

Is God angry with me?

What does it mean for Jesus to fulfill the law and the prophets?

After the resurrection, Jesus spoke to the disciples in Luke 24:
25 And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

Jesus fulfilled the law and the prophets in at least the following ways:
  1. Jesus lived a sinless life under the Law.
  2. The OT prophesied the Messiah-King. Jesus fulfilled that role. He came to open the Kingdom of God to everyone who believes. We (our spirits) now live in this kingdom.
  3. By dying on the cross, Jesus fulfilled the temple sacrificial laws. We no longer need to offer animal sacrifices.
  4. The law brings death. Christ fulfilled the law of death to bring us eternal life. (Romans 7:4)
Jesus fulfilled and annulled the OT law but did not demolish it.

Loving to Slumber

Isaiah 56:9-12 ESV

“All you beasts of the field, come to devour—
all you beasts in the forest.
His watchmen are blind;
they are all without knowledge;
they are all silent dogs;
they cannot bark,
dreaming, lying down,
loving to slumber.
The dogs have a mighty appetite;
they never have enough.
But they are shepherds who have no understanding;
they have all turned to their own way,
each to his own gain, one and all.
‘Come,’ they say, ‘let me get wine;
let us fill ourselves with strong drink;
and tomorrow will be like this day,
great beyond measure.’”

This writing is obviously addressed to a very specific people at a particular time in biblical history. But there are things we can learn from this, especially when some or all or most of this also applies to our world or to our nations or to the church in any specific location or overall in our world today. But since I live in America, and America is what I know, America is what I will be talking about. So apply these truths wherever you know they apply.

In America today we have many people within the gatherings of the church (or what is falsely being called “church”) who fit this description to some extent. But this appears to largely be focused on those who are in positions of spiritual rule, authority, and leadership within the gatherings of the church, but also within Christian homes. And since God has assigned the leadership roles in the home and in the church to men, this would be targeted mainly to men, although not to exclude women entirely.

So, who are these watchmen? In a spiritual sense they are those whom God appoints to watch over the souls of his people, to nurture them in the Lord, to give them both encouragement and warnings, and to train them in righteousness and holiness and in obedient walks of faith in Jesus Christ. So they are to urge God’s people to live faithfully in service to the Lord and to warn them against falling away from their pure devotion to Jesus Christ. And they are to warn the unrepentant and the disobedient of judgment of God.

Now, when we read the New Testament, we learn that each one of us who believes in Jesus Christ is to be spiritually responsible for those of the body of Christ, not that we are held accountable for what others do, but that we are accountable to God for what we do in obedience to our Lord in nurturing and encouraging and exhorting the body of Christ, and in speaking the truth in love to one another so that we all grow to spiritual maturity in Christ.

[Rom 12:1-8; Rom 15:14; 1 Co 12:1-31; Eph 4:1-16; Eph 5:17-27; Php 2:1-8; Col 3:16; Heb 3:13; Heb 10:23-25]

So, it isn’t just the job of the preacher or pastor in a church congregation to look out for the spiritual growth and maturity and encouragement of the saints of God, i.e. the body of believers in Christ. Yet, what most of us are lacking in, unless we are in positions of rule over the people, is any authority over the people. But that shouldn’t keep us from fulfilling our God-given responsibilities to the body of Christ, as a whole. We all should be encouraging one another to live holy lives and to not walk in sin.

Therefore, to some extent, this passage of Scripture can apply to the entire body of Christ, although it is especially targeted at those who are in positions of rule and authority who have the power and authority to make things happen or not happen. So, then let’s look at what this is teaching us, whether or not we live in America, which is where I live. For these are universal and biblical truths repeated for us in the New Testament.

The Lesson

Many professing Christians here in America are not Christians in practice but only in profession. They give lip service only to the Lord, but they do not follow up their confessions of Christ as Lord by truly making him Lord (Owner-Master) of their lives. Instead, many of them are continuing in deliberate and habitual sin against God, and against other humans, and so they are living, in practice, as the spiritually blind. And many of them are preachers and pastors and people of influence in the Christian church.

So, they are selfish, and self-indulgent, and seekers of pleasure and not seekers of God. They are spiritually asleep and lazy and apathetic. They are wanderers who go from this to that to something else without regard for God and for what he wants for their lives. For they live for themselves and for what gives them pleasure and not for God and for what is pleasing to him, and not for the benefit of others but often against others when they sin against them deliberately and habitually without conscience or remorse.

And so they are neglecting not only their own spiritual lives and their supposed relationships with Jesus Christ, but they are also emotionally, spiritually, and physically neglecting the true needs of God’s people, and their spiritual nourishment. And many are teaching them lies which give them permission to continue on in their sin without conscience, for they are telling them that all their sins are forgiven and heaven is guaranteed them when they die, regardless of how they live. But that is not the truth!

And so what this passage of Scripture is about is a warning of divine judgment, and I personally believe the American church is already under the divine judgment of God, as is our nation. And the book of Revelation begins in chapters 2 and 3 with warnings of divine judgment to the majority of the church if she does not repent of her sins and turn back to the Lord (or to him in the first place) in walks of holiness and in obedience to the Lord and to his commands (New Covenant).

For, if sin is what we practice, we will not have eternal life with God. And if we claim to be in fellowship with God/Christ but while we walk (in conduct, in practice) in sin, we are liars. And if we claim to know God/Christ but we do not obey his commandments (New Covenant), we are liars. And if we walk in sin and not in righteousness, and not in obedience to our Lord, we don’t know God, we are not born of God, but we are of the devil, and heaven will not be our eternal destiny (1 John 1,2,3).

[Matt 7:21-23; Matt 24:9-14; Lu 9:23-26; Rom 1:18-32; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14,24; Rom 12:1-2; Rom 13:11; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; 1 Co 1:18; 1 Co 15:1-2; 2 Tim 1:8-9; Heb 9:28; 1 Pet 1:5; Gal 5:16-21; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:5-17; 1 Pet 2:24; Tit 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-9; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; Heb 3:6,14-15; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

The Spirit Calling

An Original Work / November 12, 2019

Hear the Spirit calling.
He’ll keep you from falling.
Tenderly He’s calling,
“Come and follow Him.”

Walk with Jesus daily.
Don’t give in to lazy.
Folks may call you crazy.
Fellowship with Him.

Follow where He leads you.
Eat what Jesus feeds you.
His love will renew you
If you follow Him.

Do what Jesus tells you.
Don’t let your faith fail you.
His love will avail you
If you walk with Him.

Jesus, Lord and Savior,
Reigneth now forever.
He gave us His favor
So we’d live with Him.

Turning now from our sin,
Holy Spirit live-in.
Holiness we walk in,
Purified by Him.

DEI and other leftist initiatives at Christian colleges?

I am looking at colleges for my son to go to next year, and I have run into some alarming things.

The Christian colleges I have looked at have some of the following initiatives and requirements in place:

1. Every first-year student must take a course in DEI/CRT. The syllabus for this course is filled with the most left-wing stuff imaginable. Loras College, a Catholic School in Dubuque requires this, and it is astonishing to me. That school also has a LGBT center in it

2. Bias-Response Teams are on campus, and students can anonymously complain about other students "bias incidents" and "micro-aggressions". Students that have been accused are dragged in front of the administration, the diversity board, and in some cases the police. Clarke University in Dubuque, and University of Dubuque have this --both of them are Christian schools.

I don't think I should have to pay for courses in indoctrination, or struggle sessions.

Is this just the reality now? Does anyone know of Christian (or even secular) schools that DON'T have this stuff?

Senate Judiciary Committee sends legislation imposing code of ethics on Supreme Court to full Senate

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Thursday to send legislation imposing a code of ethics on the Supreme Court to the full Senate floor for consideration.

The vote was along party lines, 11-10, with Democrats using their slight majority to muscle it through.

The legislation is “as dead as fried chicken,” according to Sen. John Kennedy, Louisiana Republican, who noted it won’t receive the necessary 60 votes in the Senate to pass or even be taken up in the GOP-controlled House.

What a ridiculous waste of time. Even if the President signed it into law; the SCOTUS could strike it down as unconstitutional.

Maybe these guys should just open up the Constitution and read it, to learn about the separation of powers.

Official admits FBI told Twitter that Hunter Biden laptop was real as soon as news broke in 2020

A senior FBI official has revealed that the bureau told Twitter that Hunter Biden’s laptop computer was genuine the same day a newspaper first reported details of President Biden and his son’s foreign business deals based on documents from the laptop.

Laura Dehmlow, section chief of the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), made the revelation in a closed-door deposition this week to the House Judiciary Committee, which released a transcript of the deposition on Thursday.

The FBI’s verification of Hunter Biden’s laptop was not made public until after the 2020 presidential election, despite an October 2020 letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials claiming the laptop documents were Russian disinformation.

Missouri AG overruled

Missouri AG Andrew Bailey's assertion that an amendment to the state constitution that would legalize elective abortion would cost billions was rejected by the MO Supreme Court. The amendment will be on the 2024 ballot. Which is how it should be. Let the voters decide.

(KMOV/AP) -- The Missouri Supreme Court on Thursday unanimously ordered Attorney General Andrew Bailey to stop insisting that legalizing abortion in the state will cost as much as $12.5 billion to $51 billion, Thus enabling abortion-rights supporters to begin the push to get a legalization measure on the 2024 ballot.

Supreme Court judges unanimously affirmed a lower court’s decision that Attorney General Andrew Bailey must approve the cost estimate provided by the auditor, despite Bailey’s insistence that the cost to taxpayers of restoring abortion rights could be as much as a million times higher than what the auditor found.

Marijuana for Sleep

I have insomnia, and have had it for almost two months now. Nothing prescribed works and they won’t prescribe me ambien.

I gave up smoking weed in April, after smoking it for three years non-stop and became a Christian. I know being a drug user is a sin.

I am seriously considering getting a vape with a strain that puts you out. Would it be a sin to use it just for sleep or am I in a no-win situation of get my sleep by sinning or live with being unable to function from lack of sleep and eventually dropping dead from no sleep?

My prayers for sleep are being ignored. Not being able to go to sleep is the worst thing in the world. If you have never suffered from it, you do not understand it.

Trump Agrees to Return Israeli Antiquities

“These historic items were presented by a representative of the Israeli antiquities authority with the full support of the organization,” a Trump spokesman said Wednesday, adding that the items were on loan for permanent exhibition. “As the items were displayed as originally intended, the office will be expediting their return to the organization’s representative,” he said...

...Their modern-day journey began in 2019, when Saul Fox, a private-equity executive, longtime Republican donor and backer of Israel, got a call from Israel Hasson, then head of the Israeli antiquities authority, saying he was coming to the U.S. and would like to meet him. Fox had just been invited to a Hanukkah party at the White House and suggested that Trump be presented with antiquities from Jerusalem in honor of his support for Israel. ...

...Fox, in an interview, said the State Department wanted to inspect them but didn’t return them in time for the Hanukkah celebration. “I was a little embarrassed,” he said. Several State Department officials said Wednesday that they couldn’t recall the encounter.

According to Saul Fox, the items were never presented to the president at the White House as intended. They were supposed to be returned to Israel, but for reasons including the Covid travel problems, Fox hung on to them for the next few years. In 2021, he got an invitation to Mar-A-Lago around Hanukkah and decided to present the items to Trump. This seems to have been done on his own accord, without approval of the director of Israeli Antiquities. There was a note included with the items that stipulated that they were on loan and not a gift. However, no date of return was given so Fox apparently decided that the loan was for an indefinite period.

As much as I am disinclined to give Trump any benefit of doubt, this seems to me to be Fox's fault as the items were presented to Trump at Mar-A-Lago after he was out of office.

West Virginia Court Blocks Unconstitutional Religious Sobriety Prison Program

Charleston, WV — In a sweeping 60-page decision issued yesterday, a federal judge ruled in favor of Andrew Miller, an atheist and Secular Humanist, who has been forced to participate in religious substance abuse treatment activities as a condition for his parole.

Miller has been interviewed three times by the West Virginia Parole Board Panel and was denied parole each time. The lawsuit alleges, and the state does not dispute, that his failure to complete the pervasively religious RSAT program contributed significantly to the Board’s decision to deny him parole.

In the opinion granting the preliminary injunction, Judge Goodwin denied West Virginia’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit, finding that all of Andrew’s claims were “likely—if not inevitable” to succeed on the merits. Goodwin highlighted the “undeniably religious nature of the program,” including pervasive religious content in the course material, mandatory prayers during meetings, and a chapter that “tells atheists and agnostics they are ‘doomed to an alcoholic death’ unless they ‘seek Him.’”

June home sales drop to the slowest pace in 14 years as short supply chokes the market

"Home sales fell, but home prices have held firm in most parts of the country,” Yun said. “Limited supply is still leading to multiple-offer situations, with one-third of homes getting sold above the list price in the latest month.”

“There are simply not enough homes for sale,” said Lawrence Yun, chief economist for the Realtors. “The market can easily absorb a doubling of inventory.”

Prayer for 3 month old Ezekiel

The son of a friend of mine. Ezekiel had a very high fever 10 days ago, so high in fact Ezekiel's father and mother rushed him to the ER. They found complications... a tumor.

Surgery is this Monday to remove it. Prayers needed for a complete and successful surgery, for there to be no more tumor left, and for a full, quick, speedy, and strong recovery of Ezekiel, so he can grow up and serve G-d and bring him glory. Ezekiel's name comes from the root chazak, which means strength, and El, G-d. Strength of G-d. A most fitting name.

Let's pray for G-d's strength to manifest and bring full and complete recovery to Ezekiel, and strength to his parents, and may G-d be praised!

I don't know what is so special about this young boy, but he comes into my circle now, just as he has now come into yours. Please inform your prayer circles and activate your prayer groups! I sense that G-d wants us to share this with as many people in our prayer chains as possible!

Shalom in Messiah Yeshua,

White House condemns Texas over ‘atrocious’ floating razor wire barriers at Southern border

"This governor … has treated the situation that we're seeing at the border in an inhumane way," Jean-Pierre responded. "It is atrocious, the actions that he decides to take. He takes this [action] instead of dealing with this issue in a way that we can get to a resolution and working together, he turns it into a political stunt."
