  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evangelist's murder sparks widespread grief in Uganda

Man hailed for knowledge of Quran and Bible, participating in Muslim-Christian dialogue

NAIROBI, Kenya — Muslim extremists in Uganda killed an evangelist after a public Christian-Muslim dialogue event earlier this month.

Konkona Kasimu, a convert from Islam, was known for his deep understanding of both the Bible and the Quran and had participated in Christian-Muslim dialogues across several districts, including Iganga, Mayuge, Jinja and Kampala before he was killed on Dec. 12. He was 42.

His church, New Eden Church, organized an open-air dialogue in eastern Uganda’s Busia town on Dec. 8-12, deploying a team of four evangelists, three men and one woman, with Kasimu as the lead speaker while the others assisted in counseling and discipling new Christians, church leaders said.

1 Corinthians 6 and sex sin and well being and salvation, peace...?

1 Corinthians 6 brings up the history of the body as God's temple, of His Spirit and sex sin such as with prostitutes and that as Christians born again, we are one spirit with God. That we must not be one with prostitutes. One flesh and maybe one soul, will... and one spirit, welded together. There is the idea that the soul and the spirit can be taken outside of space and time in God and be healed, but the body has an eternal history and must be atoned for later. Some believe God as almighty can change even the history of our bodies.

There is atoning and cleaning power in Christ's sacred blood.

If I had a spouse who committed adultery in our bed with a prostitute, I would not again use the bed. And she would be defiled, and I might long to have her back, but find it hard to regain cleanness and peace with her. looking at her spirit, will, emotions, mind and he body, flesh, protein, blood, waters... It is a bit like someone used her as a toilet. In this life I think her spirit and soul matter more that her physical body.

This makes me see why adultery often leads to divorce.

What do other Christians think?

God Did a New Thing

“This is what the Lord says—
he who made a way through the sea,
a path through the mighty waters,
who drew out the chariots and horses,
the army and reinforcements together,
and they lay there, never to rise again,
extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
‘Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls,
because I provide water in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen,
the people I formed for myself
that they may proclaim my praise.’” (Isaiah 43:16-21 NASB1995)

Today is my birthday. I am now 76 years old. It is hard to believe that I am that old and that I have made it this far. So, although what is written here in Isaiah was about the Israelites and their captivity in Egypt, and God’s deliverance of them out of the hand of their enemies, I believe the Lord wants me to share some of my testimony today related to his deliverance in my life out of captivity to sin, and how he delivered me out of the hand of my enemy Satan, and how he made a new way for me, not like the past.

Now I was only about 7 years old when I first gave my heart and life to Jesus Christ to deliver me out of sin and to give me a new life in him in surrender to him as my Lord. And, although I was not a perfect child, I loved the Lord, and my desire was for him to do his will and to follow in his ways, even though I had many obstacles to overcome, like a severely abusive father who was also a legalist who was very strict about certain things while he did whatever he wanted to do with me, his daughter. Very sad situation!

Anyway, I grew to adulthood, got married, and had a family of my own. And my family has now grown beyond just my husband’s and my four children to us gaining 4 in-law children, 14 grandchildren, 2 grandsons-in-law, and now 2 great granddaughters, to a total of 28 of us, and possibly still growing. We did move around quite a bit over the past 50 years, but our family has been fairly settled in one area of the country for the past 30 years, so we get to see our children and their spouses and their children and grandchildren.

Now I followed the Lord throughout my childhood and my youth and into adulthood. And my husband and I were both engaged in Christian ministry in the areas of music and teaching the Scriptures and ministering to the needs of children, youth, and young and old adults. But we did have a down time when neither of us were doing well spiritually, and I did fall into sin at that time. But later on the Lord did revive me and renew me. And after some time he called me to this present ministry, which is now on its 21st year.

He made the way for me through the sea, and a path through the mighty waters, and he delivered me from the hand of my enemy, Satan, and from those who hated me and mistreated me and who persecuted me, i.e. he taught me to trust him in my circumstances. And he gave me a new life, not like the old life, and he called me to write down what he was teaching me each day from my times with him in his word, and to place these writings on the internet so that a herald could “run with it,” i.e. the name of my blog.

Now, although I have taught the Scriptures for about 50 years, prior to 2004 I had not shared my daily devotional times with the Lord on the internet for the world to see and to read and respond to. But in these times of devotion with the Lord, he wasn’t just teaching me the Scriptures, but the reality of how so many of them are being fulfilled in real time in our world today. And so he had me reading all sorts of news articles and articles on history and science and all kinds of subjects I would never have approached before.

And then he had me reading the Scriptures in their full biblical context beginning in Genesis all the way to Revelation, and repeated, and then the Psalms to Revelation, and repeated numerous times. And then, beginning in 2017, he had me using Bible Gateway’s daily Bible verse, only expanded to include more of the Bible chapter’s verses. But sometimes he still has me doing book studies, although not necessarily covering every Bible verse. And he added on song writing, book writing, poetry, memes, and video talks, too.

So, the Lord definitely did a “new thing” in my life, beginning in 2004, which is still ongoing. And I would never have imagined this in my wildest dreams. For it all comes from him, and he is the one directing my path and guiding me in the way in which he wants me to go. He definitely made a way for me in the wilderness that I would never have dreamed possible. And for the past nearly 4 months he has been taking me through a physical trial, but I know he has a plan for that in my life, as well, and he will get me through this.

So, to God be all the glory and honor and praise! Great things HE has done!!

A Believer’s Prayer

With my whole heart, Lord, I pray
To be Yours, and Yours always.
Lead me in Your truth today.
May I love You, and obey.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
When I sin, may I confess;
Bow before You when I pray;
Live for You and You always.

Love You, Jesus, You’re my friend.
Life with You will never end.
You are with me through each day,
Giving love and peace always.
You will ne’er abandon me.
From my sin You set me free.
You died on that cruel tree,
So I’d live eternally.

Soon You’re coming back for me;
From this world to set me free;
Live with You eternally.
Oh, what joy that brings to me.
I will walk with You in white;
A pure bride, I’ve been made right
By the blood of Jesus Christ;
Pardoned by His sacrifice.

Waterbury man held on $2.5M bond, faces murder charge in Grove Street stabbing

Waterbury State's Attorney Maureen Platt detailed an extensive criminal history for Barnes involving roughly 40 prior convictions, including robberies, larcenies, assaults, criminal impersonation, weapon-related offenses and multiple failures to appear in court.

It's too late for the 2.5 million dollar bond. This is a violent man who never should have been on the streets.

Trump’s Deputies Freeze Child Care Payments to Minnesota amid Alleged Somali Fraud

"The fraud has been quietly described in many news outlets over the last few years. However, Democrats suppressed public recognition of the mass fraud by their political allies until last week, when independent journalist Nick Shirley posted a series of man-on-the-street videos showing empty child care centers."
Stealing money that is supposed to help children is particularly despicable. Given the situation, requiring evidence that a payment is legitimate before handing over taxpayer money is a responsible step to take.

ICE accuses Politico reporter of ‘inciting violence against federal agents’

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) claimed Tuesday that Politico reporter Josh Gerstein was “inciting violence against federal agents.”
Gerstein, a senior legal affairs reporter at the outlet, said Monday on the social platform X, “At some point, the amateur effort to knock on doors of home daycares intersects with robust stand-your-ground laws.”
There is an ongoing plea directed at the left to tone down the violent rhetoric because it could push someone on the fringe into a violent act.

Nuclear weapons in the Bible?

Zechariah 5: 6-10 Then I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a flying roll. And he said unto me, What seest thou? And I answered, I see a flying roll; the length thereof [is] twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof ten cubits. Then said he unto me, This [is] the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that stealeth shall be cut off [as] on this side according to it; and every one that sweareth shall be cut off [as] on that side according to it. I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with the timber thereof and the stones thereof.

Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, look up and see what this is that is appearing. I asked What is it? He replied It is a measuring basket. And he added, this is the iniquity of the people throughout the land. Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman! He said, this is wickedness f1 and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed the lead cover down over its mouth. Then I looked up-and there before me were two women with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth. Where are they taking the basket? I asked the angel who was speaking to me. He replied, To the country of Babylonia to build a house for it. When it is ready, the basket will be set in its place.

A Jewish brother said

The word for Basket is 'ephah' which is a container over 30 feet in length and nearly 5 feet in diameter.

Now as to the woman in the basket, the word for woman in Hebrew is Isha. According to the angel the woman in the ephah is "wickedness." Well it doesn't make any sense until you see that the word "woman" is a mistranslation.

It is not a woman that is in the ephah but a fire. Same in verse nine. There are not two women but two fires.

The word for fire offering is Aisha. It has the same consonants as Isha. For centuries the Hebrew manuscripts came from a Karaite Mesorah (received text) and there was a hirik (dot) underneath the letter aleph, the same letter for both Isha and Aisha. It is in every Hebrew text I own. The context must be employed to makes sense of it all

This is the wickedness. It is anevil fire offering (aisha).

What is the significance of the lead cover? Well in nuclear missile, noncritical masses of Uranium-235 is encased in lead, is it not?

Is this is a possible nuclear device being discussed in this passage?

Look up at the first few verses of chapter 5. We have a flying "roll" or megillah in Hebrew. That means it is something that is cylindrical in shape. It is flying. It is 20 cubits by 10 cubits. The same dimensions as the ephah. It is a curse that effects the whole earth. Earth is rendered eretz. Could it be a reference to Israel? It is common parlance among Jews to refer to Israel as simply "the Land." It consumes houses, stones, and timbers. It quite destructive, obviously.

The two fires could be a reference to a two-stage nuclear blast! Not sure on\~that one. My understanding of the science of nuclear weapons is woefully limited.

This might be a nuclear war or something,

So there is this female Christian singer who I don't think people have really ever heard of, but I used to listen to some of her music growing up. I revisited one of her songs this evening and enjoyed listening to it.

Misspelled Minnesota day care closed last week, state claims — on same day owners told The Post it’s up and running

MINNEAPOLIS — The misspelled day care at the center of viral outrage over the Somali community’s multibillion-dollar fraud scandal shut down last week, the head of Minnesota’s child services department claimed Monday — at the same time that the owners of the facility put on a dog and pony show for The Post to demonstrate that it was really a working day care and not a front.
Tikki Brown, commissioner of Minnesota’s Department of Children, Youth and Families, told reporters that her staff found no evidence of fraud at any of the day cares highlighted by YouTuber Nick Shirley.
She stated that the Quality “Learing” Center had closed.

Reading the Bible in a year

I want to start a reading the Bible in a year plan, and was wondering which format to use. I saw three that I was interested in - the Canonical format where it is read straight through from Genesis to Revelation, the Chronological format where it is read as it historically happened, and one that takes some from the OT, the NT, and Psalms or Proverbs on a daily basis.

Anyone have any ideas or recommendations regarding which method might be best?

Russian “Ghost Ship” Sank (in 2024) While Smuggling Nuclear Reactor Parts Likely Bound for North Korea

Russian “Ghost Ship” Sank While Smuggling Nuclear Reactor Parts Likely Bound for North Korea

Spanish investigators have confirmed that the Russian cargo vessel Ursa Major, which sank off the coast of Cartagena in December 2024, was carrying undeclared nuclear reactor components likely bound for North Korea.

Though the ship’s manifest listed only empty containers and port equipment, aerial images revealed two large, undeclared containers at the stern. Authorities later identified them as housings for VM-4SG nuclear reactors.

Spain concluded the shipment was headed for the North Korean port of Rason, which lacks the infrastructure to handle such cargo without specialized cranes—also found onboard.

A distress signal followed on December 23. Spanish rescue units responded and found the ship heavily tilted. The captain claimed mechanical failure, but hull damage showed signs of an external strike consistent with a supercavitating torpedo.

The Russian warship Ivan Gren soon arrived, demanded control of the site, and launched flares—likely to disrupt satellite surveillance. Shortly after, the Ursa Major disappeared from the surface. Seismographs recorded underwater explosions, and the ship sank to a depth of 2,500 meters.

Erika Kirk opens up about her conversations with God after husband Charlie Kirk's murder

Erika Kirk has revealed how “God’s light” is guiding her as the new CEO of Turning Point USA after her husband Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September, saying she doesn't want anything less than God's will for her life.

The 37-year-old widow opened up about her relationship with God and her plans for upholding her husband’s legacy during an interview with host Shannon Bream on "Fox News Sunday.”

During the interview, Bream asked Kirk what her conversations with God have been like following the Sept. 10 assassination of her husband during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. Authorities later arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who reportedly killed the conservative activist over his political views, including on topics like transgenderism.

"Quite frankly, they're kind of the same," Kirk said in response to the question. "I've never questioned, ‘Why me?’ I always knew that my life was not just to be lived for me. We're here for such a greater purpose, and Charlie and I both knew that."

Acclaimed actress, 48, says she plans to die by assisted suicide because she cannot overcome her mental illness

A successful Canadian actress and comedienne with family and friends who adore her says she will die by assisted suicide because she cannot overcome her mental illnesses.

Claire Brosseau, 48, was diagnosed with manic depression when she was 14 years old after she went on a drug, alcohol, and sex-filled spree.

Brosseau would later be identified as having anxiety, chronic suicidal ideation, an eating disorder, a personality disorder, substance abuse disorder, PTSD, and a slew of other mental health conditions.

She attempted suicide countless times and has been treated by psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors across North America, she revealed in an open letter published to her Substack earlier this year.

She has tried dozens of medications, therapies, and guided psychedelics in an attempt to improve her mental health, but to no avail, the New York Times reported.

Brosseau, who has neither a partner nor children, decided in 2021 that she would apply for euthanasia under Canada's Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) program. She is now suing the Canadian government for the right to die by assisted suicide.

MAiD is a process that allows adults suffering from a 'grievous and irremediable medical condition' to end their life with the assistance of a doctor. Patients whose chronic illnesses are solely mental health-related, however, are not yet eligible for MAiD.

British provider claims sex-selective abortions aren't illegal, accused of endangering women

A leading British abortion provider is facing backlash after it appeared to defend sex-selective abortions and sparked concerns that the organization is enabling a discriminatory practice, as data shows a "significant imbalance” in the ratio of boys to girls being born in the United Kingdom.

Campaigners argue that the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, which performs over 100,000 abortions annually, is putting women at risk of being pressured to abort their baby girls and give birth to boys instead, as The Sunday Times reported.

Franklin Graham Believes the ‘Lie of Socialism’ Is Why Millennials and Gen Z Are Returning to Church

Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, recently told Fox News that he believes the “lie of socialism” is one of the main reasons for a resurgence in church attendance among Millennials and Gen Z.

Millennial is the term used to describe the generation of those born between 1981-1996 and Gen Z describes those born between 1997-2012.

“I think it’s socialism,” Graham answered without hesitation. “I think Gen Z and Millennials have been fed the lie of socialism, and socialism is basically anti-God.” Graham believes that younger generations have “been turned off by” the idea of socialism, and “they’re asking themselves—there’s got to be something more.”

Discussion Who and what are we in Christ?

Weeks after I was born again, I was subjected to cussing, blasphemy and belittlement at church and after. I never heard on my identity in Christ in the spaces of time best suited for me. Decades later my church taught me a bit about it.

I am righteous in Christ.

Salvation in a moment versus moment-by-moment motives

I have struggled with the gospel for over fifty years. It is as if I am just recently realizing that the Christian life is impossible without the Holy Spirit.

On the one hand, one can be saved in a moment. OTOH, one must take up one’s cross daily and those who persevere to the end will be saved.

Moment-by-moment motives matter. If one lives for Christ moment-by-moment, the indication is that one is saved. If one lives for self moment-by-moment, indications are that one is NOT saved.

I figure that one has to trust Christ and the Holy Spirit moment-by-moment to help one live for Christ instead of for self. If one mostly lets up from this quest, then apparently one is not saved. On the one hand, one can be saved in a moment. OTOH, one must relinquish self and trust God moment-by-moment from then on.

This salvation-in-a-moment versus moment-by-moment motives thing is a supernatural paradox. There are lots of paradoxes that have to do with the supernatural realm, that have to do with the reality of God.

I have figured that if I can only have a moment of real salvation, then I am set. Then I am Christ’s no matter what. There might be a struggle between the flesh and the Spirit from then on, till I die, but I am going to heaven no matter what. Since my mother died in 2011, I have striven to experience this moment of real salvation.

Just this morning, I was thinking about how one must live for Christ, moment-by-moment, instead of for self, moment-by-moment. And how one must keep looking up at Christ and the Holy Spirit to accomplish that. Realizing that, there were moments this morning wherein I asked Christ and the Spirit to help me live for Christ, instead of for self, moment-by-moment. But then I thought about having to keep this quest up, moment-by-moment, on an on-going basis. I thought, I am not going to be “able” to keep that up. Then I figured that, by default, I just live for self, moment-by-moment. So, I tend to figure, with my wavering faith, that I am not saved.

What must I do to be saved?

Muriatic Conspiracy?

I was making a hole into a bottle of muriatic acid (29% concentration) I bought 2 days ago, and the bottle squirted its contents. I'm not wearing any protection and some of the liquid got to my bare skin in my hands and legs. Some of the liquid also got into the scissors I've used to make the hole and immediately started making white smoke, very pungent fumes, and visibly corroding/dissolving the scissor blade.

As for the acid that went to my skin, it did absolutely nothing. Absolutely no effect at all. So I wasn't in a hurry to wash it off but did anyway due to the smell after more than 10 seconds of exposure. The next day, there are still no signs of acid damage on my skin.

This was actually the 2nd time I had skin contact with the same acid product. The first time with moist/wet skin because I'm cleaning the bathroom caused a very mild effect similar to bleach and nothing else, no pain, no lingering effects.

I checked the internet afterwards and to my disbelief, I saw most articles saying some sort of immediate harm upon contact like 1st to 3rd degree burns, severe burns for >25% concentrated hydrochloric acid, wash with running water for some minutes.

None of that happened to me. Why would these articles lie about things like these? The main reason I posted here is seeing quite different real life results from what is said. If I can't even trust even seemingly highly reputable sources of information, who then can I trust?

Harris County treasurer Carla Wyatt arrested, charged with misdemeanor for car burglary

There are a lot of unscrupulous officials in my state, and take it from me it is not a good idea to keep someone with financial responsibility who has a record of violating the law.

Are Christians Called to Be More Judgmental?

"When we allow fear to eclipse our responsibilities to admonish grave wrongs and encourage virtue over vice, we abandon duties central to Christianity. Instructing the ignorant and admonishing the sinner are spiritual works of mercy that we seem to have abandoned due to the misguided notion that it harms rather than helps our neighbor."
