  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump got them all.

Socotra Island & Noah's Ark

The question is: Where did all the unique vegetation come from that we see on this island?
Why do we not see this anywhere in the world?
Some people believe Evolution took place after Noah and the Ark.

Socotra Island, located in the Indian Ocean near the Gulf of Aden, boasts a remarkable array of unique vegetation. Here are some fascinating facts about Socotra’s plant life:

  1. Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari): One of the most striking plants on Socotra, the dragon’s blood tree has an umbrella-like shape and produces red sap. Ancient civilizations valued this sap for its medicinal and dye properties, and today it’s used as paint and varnish.
  2. Endemic Aloes: Socotra is home to various endemic aloes, which were historically used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes.
  3. Other Notable Plants:
    • Giant Succulent Tree (Dorstenia gigas): A massive succulent found exclusively on Socotra.
    • Cucumber Tree (Dendrosicyos socotranus): A unique tree with a distinctive appearance.
    • Socotran Pomegranate (Punica protopunica): A rare pomegranate species specific to the island.
    • Frankincense Trees (Boswellia socotrana): Socotra is also associated with frankincense production.
  4. Endemism: Over a third of Socotra’s 825 plant species are endemic, meaning they occur nowhere else in the world. The island’s isolation allowed for distinct evolutionary processes.
Despite its unique flora, Socotra is inhabited by more than 50,000 people who engage in fishing, animal husbandry, and date cultivation

COVID Select Subcommittee Releases Dr. Fauci’s Transcript, Highlights Key Takeaways in New Memo

This is a long article with transcripts from that interview. What are y'alls thoughts and opinions about what Fauci said to this Covid subcommittee of Congress?

'Fire of Revival' Spreads in Europe as Thousands Pack Stadiums in Hungary and Italy

Another wave of massive revival gatherings took place across Europe this weekend, and more than a thousand people made decisions to follow Jesus Christ – this time in Hungary and Italy.

International evangelist Jean-Luc Trachsel says "the power of the Lord" moved at two huge conferences in Hungary and Italy as people were saved, healed, and delivered.

"Fire of revival is spreading everywhere in Europe to hungry and thirsty people," he wrote on social media. "Stop to watch and dare why it's not coming to your place. Go to your knees and cry out to The Lord of the harvest to save your region."

My Integrity Challenge

Since one poster here likes to bring up integrity a lot, I thought I would issue a challenge based on it.

Here's my challenge:

If you were offered one million dollars to find evidence of Noah's flood, would you:

A) Take it and go look somewhere?

B) Decline it on the basis that you are convinced scientifically that Noah's flood didn't occur?

Attacks on Pakistani Christians.

PAKISTAN: Attacks on Christians a ‘calculated manipulation’
The recent mob attack in Pakistan, which saw the death of a Christian shoe factory owner, was a ‘calculated’ and ‘manipulative’ assault, according to a human rights commission investigation.

As Release International reported last month, Nazeer Gill was beaten and his factory set ablaze after a neighbour falsely accused him of desecrating the Koran. He later died in hospital of his injuries.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, which investigated the incident, has concluded that it was a ‘calculated assault, manipulated through religious fervour to gain maximum leverage.’

The incident may have started due to a dispute Nazeer’s family had with their neighbours, in Sargodha’s Mujahid colony, in the Punjab. But, as the human rights report notes, an announcement over the local mosque quickly charged up a mob of around 2,000 people, demanding the death of Nazeer. As well as attacking Nazeer they vandalised his home and factory.

Around 150-200 Christian families lived in the Mujahid colony, among roughly 2,000 Muslim families. Christian community members voiced concerns about their safety to return to the colony after the incident.

A prominent poster of the Muslim extremist political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) outside Nazeer’s neighbour’s shop indicated possible political motivations behind the attack, the report suggested. ‘Strict action should be taken against political parties that use blasphemy allegations as a tool for political purposes,’ the report states.

The human rights commission’s review, which was reported by Christian Daily International-Morning Star News, comes as Release International’s latest Appeal is urging supporters in the UK to support Christians who suffer violence and oppression.

Read of another Christian in Pakistan who suffered false accusations, and to give to help oppressed Christians.

Avidan still remembers the terrible ordeal of being falsely accused of abducting his children, after his Muslim wife left him. And even today his life remains difficult and dangerous.

We met Avidan* and his children in February. Although brought up a Christian Avidan had accepted Islam to marry his wife. When she left him, his children chose to stay with him and Avidan felt called to turn back to Christ – even though he knew this would cause him so much trouble. He was hounded and abused by his neighbours, and he was eventually accused of kidnapping his daughter and sons.

Avidan was arrested and held in prison on false charges of taking his children. The authorities kept him locked up for months. It was a terrifying ordeal for him. Whilst in prison Avidan gave himself totally to Christ. He was finally freed and to this day Avidan has no idea who paid for his bail. But he believes that his true repentance was heard by God; and he believes the Lord was saying to him, ‘I will protect you when you come back to me.’

When he was released, his ex-wife said she no longer wanted the children as she had met a wealthy Muslim man and planned to remarry. The children said they were very happy as their father ‘was the hero of their lives.’

PRAYER
  • That God would comfort Nazeer’s family, following his death in hospital
  • For the Christian community in the Mujahid colony, that they might know God’s peace and protection
  • Give thanks that the human rights commission investigated the incident. Pray that its comments will be acted upon by the authorities in Pakistan, to further the protection of its Christian citizens.

Past sins are destroying my ambition to serve

Good afternoon, I'm a 28 year old man, married with a nine month old daughter, and I feel so beaten by my own guilt I don't know what to do.

I've been wrestling with the idea of serving in ministry since I was a kid. I was saved at the age of 11 or 12. However, when I turned 18, I had a period of several years where I did what I wanted when I wanted, even though I knew it was wrong. I paid for it in abundance in both guilt and discipline.

I've been rebuilding my relationship with God for 4 years now, and recently it's gotten even better. The past 4 years I've been considering (and mostly ignoring) the idea of helping teach a Sunday school class. Then came the desire to maybe one day preach. I don't know what the Lord has for me but I have this burning desire to do something.

However now that I'm trying to talk to my local pastors, research the process and qualifications, and put a genuine honest foot forward, I've become overwhelmed with the knowledge of my own sin. I feel like a wet rat crawling to the Almighty saying "hey I know I've done all this horrible stuff but here I am now." And it kills me. Is there any point or hope of me being any use now?

Jesus said "If you hate your brother you have killed him in your heart." I know I've done that.

"If you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery with her." Check that box. I truly feel like the chief of sinners sometimes.

Should I even try? I'll scrub the church bathrooms if that's what God wants, but I don't want to serve in an unworthy manner. Is there any advice or Biblical perspective on these issues?

Watchmen vs Mediators

When Ezekiel becomes God's mouthpiece to the Israelites, it wasn't really about them changing or listening. God says they won’t listen. This is about Ezekiel being a witness to them so that one day they'll look back and realize that God tried to warn them of the coming danger.

"I'm going to make your tongue cling and stick to your mouth so that you will be silent. You will not be a mediator for the people because they are rebellious." God was appointing Ezekiel as a watchman but preventing him from being a mediator.

There is only one other prophet that God tells not to mediate on behalf of the people. Interestingly, this prophet lived at the same time as Ezekiel, but in Jerusalem. "As for you, do not pray for this people. I will not listen to you." It's as if God has to shut down the prophets.

There are times when the prophets act as mediators. And everytime God gives humans another chance, they inevitably mess it all up and create a chain reaction of violence, corruption, or rebellion until it reaches a crisis point.

Sometimes it leads to a flood of justice. The mediator will stand in the gap between God and people, and be like, "they're like stupid sheep, they don't know what they do." Instead of destroying, God works with humans as they are, because humans are no different.

The people don't deserve it. But God relents because of a mediator’s surrender and sacrifice. This is a moment of the point of no return. We're at the blood of the innocent crying out from the land. And God can't turn a blind eye to it anymore.

So we've got our Noahs of this generation, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, and God decides to take his anointed representative people. For God to be both holy and just, but also faithful to his promises, He has to lead these people into death so that he can resurrect them out the other side.

God's like, yeah, don't pull a Moses. Don't do the thing that Amos did. Don't ask me, I forbid you to intercede. It's been half a millennium and they're no different than the day I brought them up out of Egypt. The people have hardened their heart.

God describes Israel the way that Pharaoh was described when God hardens his heart. God's chosen representative had to endure suffering. There's something about the human condition that indicates it's both redeemable and also too far gone at the same time. 1 John 5:17.

The true image of God in humanity has to undergo a significant transformation. To bring about this, the prophets are silenced. So God takes us on a journey into the experience of death and resurrection.

Ezekiel and Jeremiah were not pleased with their situations. They were not particularly happy about their calling, but it was the Spirit of God that compelled them to stand up. Later, Ezekiel tried to mediate by appealing to God a couple of times because he couldn't help himself.

Jesus prays, “if it is possible, let this cup pass from me.” Then He willingly chooses to obey the Father’s will. The chosen one will die but then be resurrected, symbolizing the death of humanity so that we can be reborn to take part in the new creation."

“My soul is consumed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.” Matthew 26:39

The World Was a Lie.

I am a male in my early 30's.

I was raised Christian and got saved at 17.

Then I went out into the world and became of the world.

I thought I had everything! Many people considered me very successful.

But on the inside I was scared, insecure, anxious and angry.

Went to church before Easter and really prayed.

God revealed a lot about my life and way more than I wanted to know.

However, I needed to know it.

Now, I am on fire for Jesus and my whole life changed. Peace, love, joy and love is what I feel on the inside.

Nature looks more green and the sky looks more blue!

I am loving my life and praise Jesus every single day!

Cops Stage Surprise 'Mock Shooting' on High Schoolers' Tour

Emails show police told school staff there would be "a mock shooting" involving "fake firearms." "Do you think that sort of incident would be ok for your group of students? It is about as real life as you can get," the department asked May 23, per Seven Days. "I think these students will be fine with this simulation," school staff reportedly responded, adding, "We will give a heads up to parents and students." Students and parents said they were not informed in advance.

Right wing media is facing a reckoning for lying to consumers

Here's a friendly reminder to us all about some of the reckoning being faced by right wing media for intentionally spreading misinformation to consumers. And it is encouraging to see these outlets and pundits suffer consequences for their lies. As Americans are still facing consequences from their lies as well.

I hearken back to when Tucker Carlson was fired from foxnews. I can still hear those rumors that he should be Donald Trump’s running mate. It still makes me chuckle. ^_^

a look at 1john

1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life — 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us — 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. NKJV

John is declaring that Jesus, the Son of God, came in the flesh to dispute a false teaching. Our fellowship is with the Father and Son Jesus the Christ.

1 John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. NKJV

A Christian cannot walk in the darkness (sin) and claim to have fellowship with Jesus. Fellowship is communications with each other. God will be communicating with the Christian, but they are not heeding God's voice. Without 2-way communications, God will not bless them.

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. NKJV

Without the Christian heeding Jesus' voice, the Christian will not confess sins. Discipline will start. In Romans 7: 14 Paul wrote that he was sold under sin. In the flesh all humans are slaves to sin. Spiritually being slaves to sin means we are physically addicted to sin. What is sin? John defines sin later in the epistle.

Out of numerical order: 1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. NKJV

Sin is lawlessness. Lawlessness is complete disregard for the law. By James 2:10 if anyone breaks one of God's laws they break them all. The law is one complete unit and breaking one-point breaks all of the law. Romans 6: 14 Paul writes that we are not under the law but under grace. Being under grace means that God does not impute sin to us. Romans 8 :10 God sees us through Jesus and He is dead. Romans 8:9-11 therefore, God considers us to be dead with Christ. We must remain dead, by staying in Jesus until we die. At that time God will resurrect us. If we resurrect ourselves before then, by losing faith, we will be in sin. To stay in Jesus, we must continue to have saving faith. Colossians 1: 4-5 our faith comes from our hope we have in Jesus.

Since we still sin in Christ, I will write csin for all sin that is not imputed to us because we are in Him.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not csin. And if anyone csins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our csins, and not for ours only but also for (sins of) the whole world. NKJV

Jesus can advocate for all csins we commit. If we confess our csins God will forgive them. Csins are not violation of His commandment He gave us (1John 3:23 3rd paragraph below). They are disobedient children csins. Read Matthew 18:21-22 and Luke 17:3-4 to determine the limit of God's grace. Jesus is the propitiation for all sins of the world. The only sin the world will be guilty of is named in John 16: 8-9. That sin is not believing in Jesus.

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. NKJV

John tells us the commandment He gave us later in the epistle. If we keep His commandment we know Him. Knowing Him is a very important point. If we say we know Him and do not keep His commandment we are liars. The love God gave us is perfected in us by keeping His word. It's up to us to perfect the love He gave us. John is warning us to ensure our salvation.

Out of numerical order: 1 John 3: 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. NKJV

We know Him if we obey His commandments. By John 10: 14 Jesus' sheep (the elect) know Him. John 10: 3-4 His sheep know His voice and follow Him. If we do not keep His commandment, we are not part of the elect. Remember, John is writing this epistle to a Church of believers. The church can have believers that eventually will not keep His commandment to believe in Him and love fellow Christians.

Old Cross, New Cross

An Original Work / March 3, 2018

The old cross is the cross
On which our Savior died.
He took our sins upon himself,
And he was crucified.

He died upon that cross
To put our sins to death,
That we might die with him to sin
And live to righteousness.

The new cross, not the same.
On sin it puts no blame.
It satisfies the flesh of man.
He does not have to change.

Its god does not require
We leave our flesh’s desire.
It modifies and pacifies.
It strives to not offend.

But where, in all, lies truth?
It’s found in Jesus Christ.
He said that we must die to sin,
Live to His righteousness.

His Holy Spirit, gave,
To live within our lives,
To take away the pow’r of sin.
We live victorious!

So, no one has to sin.
Our Lord has made a way
That we can walk in holiness
And live for Him each day.

In truth, we must believe,
By faith, our Lord receive.
Accept Him now to be your Lord,
And walk in victory!

Keep Yourselves from Idols

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life. And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
“If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and God will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. There is sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for that. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.
“We know that everyone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but he who was born of God protects him, and the evil one does not touch him. We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:13-21 ESV)

We don’t always know for certain what the will of God is in any given situation, do we? Now, if we read the Scriptures we can learn what his will is and what it isn’t with regard to the gospel message, and to our salvation, and in regard to the promise and hope of eternal life with God, and with regard to the subject of habitual and deliberate sin against the Lord Jesus. Those things are made clear to us in the Scriptures, but we must read the Scriptures in their appropriate context to learn the truth of the Scriptures, for so many people are teaching Scriptures out of context erroneously.

But we don’t always know God’s specific purpose for our individual lives other than what is stated clearly in the Scriptures, or to know where we are to go or what job to take, i.e. things which are everyday decisions we must make that aren’t addressed to us specifically in the Scriptures other than we are to seek the Lord and his counsel and direction, and we are to walk in his ways and in his truth and in righteousness, and not in sin. So sometimes when we pray for something, we may have to say with Jesus, “Nevertheless not my will but Thine be done.” That is still praying according to God’s will.

But what we can be most certain of is the message of the gospel, for it is stated for us clearly all throughout the New Testament, but we must guard against getting our gospel alone from Scriptures taught out of context, for many false gospel messages come from selected Scriptures taught outside their original context. For, to believe in Jesus is not just professing him as Lord or praying a prayer to receive him into our hearts. Belief in Jesus is persuasion of God to leave our lives of sin behind us and to now follow Jesus Christ in obedience to his commands in holy living (Luke 9:23-26).

And the Scriptures teach us that the way that we can know that we have eternal life with God is if we are dying to sin daily, by the Spirit, and if we are walking (in conduct, in practice) according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh, and in walks of obedience to our Lord and to his commands, and if we love our fellow humans. For that is faith, to die to sin and to live to righteousness and in obedience to our Lord and no longer in sin and to love our neighbors as ourselves. For Jesus died that we might die to sin and live to his righteousness, in his power, by his grace.

Now, with regard to this next section about sin leading to death, or not leading to death, I will share here my understanding based on all the Scriptures which teach on salvation from sin and on eternal life with God, and on the subject of putting sin to death in our lives and no longer walking in deliberate and habitual sin against the Lord. For it is the practice of sin that leads to death, and it is the daily dying to sin, by the Spirit, that leads to eternal life. So this all comes down to what we practice, either dying to sin and obeying our Lord, or continuing in sin and disobeying our Lord.

And then the passage here continues by stating that. For everyone who is truly born of God does not keep on sinning, making sin his practice. For Jesus protects us from the evil one. But, we do have examples in the Scriptures of Christians falling back into sin and forsaking the lives God had for them to live, and so we have much counsel given to the churches in the Scriptures instructing the Christians to repent of their sins and to return to following the Lord as they once had. So this is not saying a true Christian will never sin, but when he comes to Christ he doesn’t still practice sin.

[Matt 7:21-23; Lu 9:23-26; John 1:12-13; John 6:44; John 10:27-30; Acts 26:18; Rom 2:6-8; Rom 6:1-23; Rom 8:1-14; Rom 12:1-2; 1 Co 6:9-10,19-20; 1 Co 10:1-22; 2 Co 5:10,15,21; Gal 5:16-24; Gal 6:7-8; Eph 2:8-10; Eph 4:17-32; Eph 5:3-6; Col 1:21-23; Col 3:1-17; Titus 2:11-14; 1 Jn 1:5-10; 1 Jn 2:3-6,24-25; 1 Jn 3:4-10; 1 Peter 1:15; 1 Pet 2:24; Heb 3:1-19; Heb 4:1-13; Heb 10:23-31; Heb 12:1-2; Rev 21:8,27; Rev 22:14-15]

And an idol is not just a statue formed in the hands of human beings. It is anyone or anything that is honored by us and is valued by us and to which we give our undivided loyalties and hearts and minds and passions and commitment to in place of God or above God. And so an idol can be a person or a possession or a talent or intellect or a people group or a philosophy, or habits and practices which are dishonoring and disobedient to the Lord. It is what we are most devoted to, what we talk about most, and that which has our hearts surrendered to do its will in place of us doing the will of God.

Only in Him

An Original Work / February 19, 2014
Based off Isaiah 30

Woe to those who look to man’s help;
Who turn away from Jesus Christ;
Forming an alliance not in step with God;
Making their own plans, and praying not.

Willing not to listen to truth,
They close their ears to what is right.
Pleasing words are all that they’ll hear;
Feel good messages that bring cheer.

Trust in your Lord; turn from your sin.
Put your faith now ONLY IN HIM.
Do not turn to idols. They’ll not satisfy.
Jesus will save you. That’s why He died.

Your Lord will be gracious to you.
He cares all about you, ‘tis true.
He forgives you all of your sin
When you give your life up to Him.

Oh, how truly gracious He’ll be
When you bow to Him on your knees;
Turning now from your sin; walking in his ways.
He’ll lead and guide you all of your days.

Now you will sing praises to Him.
He delivered you from your sin.
You’ll tell others now of His grace,
So they may see Christ face-to-face.

This is a very good video mentioning Judaism. It's also important to note that many of the modern Jews came from the Canaanites and thus the culture and mythology influenced modern Jewish culture and spirituality. For example the Star of David was originally a symbol for Baal and Saturn
