Back in Communion

Hi Everyone,

I am happy to say I am officially back in the Orthodox Church. I did my lifetime confession last week and also had my first communion in many years Wednesday night. After not having communion for several decades, I had it twice in one week which is amazing.

My wife is going to be baptized this Saturday on Lazarus Saturday which is even more amazing. She has been on her own journey. She was immediately drawn to the church after I brought her for the first time - a year ago.

It is strange to think I am actually Orthodox again which is really cool. I spent most of my life away from the church but still interested in it. Some of my "Orthodox Wanderer" posts are kind of embarrassing but that was where I was at.

I feel a slight difference after the communion. I feel the same but a couple times I noticed that I had check myself. I was getting mad about an unexpected dental issue and I had to pause. I am Orthodox now. I just can't let my tempter flair like I used to.

Will post more later.

Prodigal 7

I committed the unpardonable sin

The Holy Spirit has been very longsuffering in my life but I know he left rightfully so. I’ve resisted him all my life and I never listened..as a result I committed some serious and evil sins and I’ve destroyed my life. I’m trying to go back to god but I know I’m the past I deliberately purposely blasphemed the Holy Spirit by spitefully never listening- I did so with the intent in my heart. I was still an unbeliever that was never saved because I had no saving faith it was professing faith. I don’t know how ti cope with the fact that I can’t go to heaven- I’m trying to turn from my ways but I know that I’ve seared my conscience because I was impetinent in my sins and these sins are orettt hard to commit against conviction- I had to use my will to pursue these sins going against my conscience and the Holy Spirit. I can’t repent from the heart and I desperately need regeneration however I can’t repent and I can’t come back to god. I committed the one sin he doesn’t forgive. I refused to let the Holy Spirit work within me and now I’m lost forever.

Edit- I self examined and found that I have a seared conscience

Mark Driscoll Calls Out Megachurch over Controversial Sword-Swallowing Performance at Men's Event

"I've been up since 1 o'clock in the morning," Driscoll, the senior and founding pastor of Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona, told attendees at the Stronger Men's Conference, which was held April 12 and 13 at the Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield, Missouri.

"The reason I'm hoarse is I have been praying and my heart is very burdened for you. And I want to be very careful with this and it's not what I want to say, but the Jezebel spirit has already been here."

"The Jezebel Spirit opened our event. This is a rebuke and a correction of no one. This is an observation. Before the word of God was open, there was a platform,” he continued.

“It was a high place. On it was a pole, an Asherah, the same thing that's used in a strip club for women who have the Jezebel spirit to seduce men.

"In front of that was a man, who ripped his shirt off like a woman does in front of a pole at a strip club."

According to Newsweek, Driscoll noted that the man “ascended” the pole before “he swallowed a sword and Jesus cried.”
At that moment, John Lindell, lead pastor of the James River Church in Missouri, who organized the Stronger Men's Conference, can be heard calling Driscoll’s name and saying he was “out of line.”

"Okay, Pastor John, I'll receive that," Driscoll said before going off-stage. "Thank you."
As Lindell went up on stage after Driscoll left, attendees started to boo loudly and many could be heard chanting "bring him back!"

Pew Research: Biden in trouble with Catholic voters

Incumbent U.S. President Joe Biden, a Catholic, is battling a high unfavorability rating among his fellow Catholics, according to survey data released by the Pew Research Center.

According to the data, neither Biden nor his Republican rival, former president Donald Trump, are viewed favorably by a majority of Catholics surveyed, but Biden is the more unpopular of the two.

The findings were part of a presentation on “Religion and Politics Ahead of the U.S. Elections” by Pew’s associate director of research, Greg Smith, at the 2024 annual conference of the Religion News Association, which concluded over the weekend.

Included in the data provided by Smith, Pew’s late February survey of 12,000 U.S. adults found that only 35% of Catholics hold a favorable view of Biden while 64% have an unfavorable view of the incumbent president.

Supreme Court exposes Biden’s selective prosecution of political opponents

“Would a sit-in that disrupts a trial or access to a federal courthouse qualify [as illegal obstruction]?” Gorsuch asked Biden’s solicitor general, Elizabeth Prelogar. “Would a heckler at today’s audience qualify or a heckler at the State of the Union address? Would pulling a fire alarm before a vote qualify for 20 years in federal prison?”
Progressive Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) used the fire alarm stunt before a key spending vote last Sept. 30 and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge carrying negligible penalties, but he bragged about not being charged for obstructing House proceedings even though that’s what he had obviously done when the alarm forced an evacuation.

Bowman BRAGGED about not being charged. The double standard is clear, and the violations of our Constitution need to stop.

In That Day

I read Isaiah 12 for my quiet time with the Lord the morning of May 21, 2011. I learned that “That Day” refers to both the Day of our Salvation (deliverance) and to the Day of Judgment when Jesus Christ comes to judge the earth and its inhabitants. Here we see Christ Jesus as the Savior and deliverer, following the time of judgment.

The Lord had been angry with his people, but now his anger was turned away from them, and so he comforted them with his salvation (deliverance). This speaks, I believe, of both physical and spiritual deliverance (salvation). So, “That Day” has both a negative and a positive aspect to it. On one end, they were under God’s wrath in divine judgment and on the other end, he delivered them from his wrath, and he restored them to himself, both physically and spiritually.

Before we trust in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives, we are under God’s wrath in divine judgment. We are separate from God, without hope, and bound in slavery to sin. So, Jesus Christ died on that cross, taking our sins upon himself, putting sin to death with him, so that, by faith in him, we might be delivered from slavery to sin and be free to walk in his holiness.

I believe that at the end of time that God/Jesus will judge not only unbelievers, but he will judge (discipline) his adulterous and idolatrous church, but not to destroy her, but to save her out of her adulterous and idolatrous ways, and to deliver her out of her short-sightedness due to her giving way to deception and falling prey to the ways of this sinful world. At this time of judgment (divine discipline), I believe, he will revive his church, and from his revived church the gospel will go forth so that many will be saved.

In That Day

An Original Work / May 21, 2011
Based off Isaiah 12

In that day you will say:
“I will praise You, Lord.
I know You were angry;
anger’s turned away.
God is my salvation;
I’ll trust; not afraid.
The Lord, the Lord, my strength;
the Lord, Lord, my song;
He is my salvation;
Lord, my comforter.”
With joy you’ll draw water
from salvation’s wells.

In that day you will say:
“Give thanks to the Lord.
Call on His holy name;
make Him known today.
Proclaim: He’s exalted.
Tell what He has done.
Sing, for He is glorious;
make this known to all.
Shout aloud; sing for joy,
people of Zion;
Great is the Holy One,
who among us dwells.”

They Do Not Honor God

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
“For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” (Romans 1:18-25 ESV)

What does it mean to be godly and to be righteous in the sight of God? This has to do with us living lives which are pleasing to God, in submission to Christ as Lord, in surrender of our wills to the will of God, in true worship of the Lord, which is to give our lives to him as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to him. It means that we love (prefer) what God prefers, which is what is holy, righteous, morally pure, upright, honest, and faithful to God. And it engages us, in the power of God, doing what is right in God’s eyes.

So to be ungodly and unrighteous in our deeds is to do the opposite of what it means to be godly and righteous, by God’s standards. It means we are not living lives pleasing to God, but to the flesh, and for self. It means we are not living in submission to Christ as Lord, and we are not living in surrender of our wills to the will of God, in true worship of the Lord. Our lives are not being given over to the Lord as living sacrifices, because self is still on the throne. And so we are preferring what is of the flesh in place of God.

So, this is not just about those people in this world who have never professed faith in Jesus Christ and who refuse to acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. This is about anyone who prefers self and sin over true worship of God in surrender of their lives to do the will of God. This is about those who, in practice, are living in sexual immorality, lying, cheating, stealing, committing adultery, and/or in unfaithfulness, etc. Although they know who God is, they do not honor him as Lord (Master).

So, what we profess with our lips has little to do with this. What we do in love response to God for what he did for us in sending Jesus Christ to the cross to die for our sins is what really matters to God. For we can honor Christ with our lips but deny him with our actions, and that is not true honor of God, but it is false. So we need to understand here that this wrath of God is not aimed only at those who do not profess him as Lord and Savior, but at those who by their unrighteous deeds suppress the truth about God.

This wrath of God is aimed at all who do not honor God with their lives in how they live, but who go after the things of this world – the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes, and the pride of life – instead of honoring Jesus Christ as Lord (Owner-Master) of their lives. For they truly worship what is created rather than the creator, for that is what they chase after. And so God gives them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, for they traded the truth for a lie.

And honestly, this is where many professers of faith in Jesus Christ in America are today, exchanging the truth about God and about his gospel for a lie which is telling them that they can have faith in Christ, have all their sins forgiven, and be on their way to heaven, but regardless of how they live. And so their gods become the things of this world and of the flesh, and God is not their God and Lord, but the world and the flesh are their gods. For that is what they worship, and not God, in truth.

“Though they know God's righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.” (Romans 1:32 ESV)

And this is yet another aspect of the same whole. Even if they do not do some (or all) of the really wicked stuff themselves, they watch TV shows, movies, videos, cartoons, and games (participatory) which glorify these things and which give approval to them and which feed their minds with the filth of the world. And they give honor to these deeds by giving their time and attention and affections to them, and by giving their approval of them. And we can sin against the Lord just in our minds, you know.

So what we need to understand here is that the wrath of God is not just against those who make no professions of faith in Jesus Christ. The wrath of God is against all who by their unrighteous and ungodly deeds suppress the truth about God, and about his gospel, and about his righteousness and his plan for our lives, that we should surrender our lives to him in submission to his will and purpose for our lives, and deny self, and die daily to sin, and walk in obedience to our Lord until the end of time.

And so we need to understand that giving lip service to God alone is not going to secure heaven for any of us. For the Scriptures teach that, as true believers and followers of Christ, that we must be crucified with Christ in death to sin, and raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, no longer to live as slaves to sin, but to God. For if sin is what we obey, it leads to death. But if obedience to God is what we obey, it leads to righteousness and to sanctification, and its end is eternal life with God (Romans 6:1-23).

A Believer’s Prayer

An Original Work / July 31, 2012

With my whole heart, Lord, I pray
To be Yours, and Yours always.
Lead me in Your truth today.
May I love You, and obey.
Lead me in Your righteousness.
When I sin, may I confess;
Bow before You when I pray;
Live for You and You always.

Love You, Jesus, You’re my friend.
Life with You will never end.
You are with me through each day,
Giving love and peace always.
You will ne’er abandon me.
From my sin You set me free.
You died on that cruel tree,
So I’d live eternally.

Soon You’re coming back for me;
From this world to set me free;
Live with You eternally.
Oh, what joy that brings to me.
I will walk with You in white;
A pure bride, I’ve been made right
By the blood of Jesus Christ;
Pardoned by His sacrifice.

First Religious Charter School Sparks Legal, Philosophical Battles

Oklahoma school, which is set to become the nation’s first religious charter, finds little support among broader community charter advocates

A legal battle over a proposed charter school in Oklahoma could unlock a new avenue for religious education—and some of the fiercest opposition is coming from within the existing charter-school movement.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court recently heard arguments over whether to allow a publicly funded, expressly religious Catholic charter school, which would represent the first of its type in the nation.

State laws have long barred such schools. Supporters, including conservative lawyers and religious-education advocates, call those laws discriminatory and say they run afoul of recent U.S. Supreme Court rulings. Some observers expect the issue to eventually reach the high court.

If the effort to allow religious charters is successful, it could open up school options for some parents, redirect public money to support religious instruction and upend the charter-school movement and publicly funded education more broadly.

Some charter advocates are wary of this future. They say that charters were always intended to be secular, public schools. A religious charter school, they say, is a contradiction in terms.

“It’s a complete repudiation of the central principles of the chartering idea,” said Joe Nathan, who was a leader in the successful effort to pass the country’s first charter-school law in Minnesota in 1991.

Charter schools are typically run by private nonprofit boards, overseen by public agencies and funded with public dollars. The idea has held appeal across the political spectrum, including among Democrats supportive of school choice but wary of vouchers that would fund private religious schools. Charter schools, which exist in 44 states, have grown rapidly since their creation and now educate nearly four million students, amounting to 7% of all publicly educated students.

Millions at risk of floods in China’s Guangdong province after heavy rain

Man, the weather seems to be getting worse. China is experiencing floods that may impact a large swathe of the Guangdong Province. I will pray for these folks in China: Millions at risk of floods in China’s Guangdong province after heavy rain

Here is a 5 or fewer sentence summary of the open-access article that is a collaboration between Reuters & The Guardian (<20% of the article length):

This is a summary of a Guardian article by Reuters, published April 21, 2024. In a grave warning, Chinese authorities in Guangdong province have initiated emergency plans to protect over 100 million people as major rivers and waterways are at risk of causing dangerous floods due to unprecedented heavy rains and spike in water levels. The Xijiang and Beijiang river basins have seen water levels rise to a point that only has a 1/50 chance of occurring annually. Torrential downpours and strong winds have affected several parts of China for weeks, leading to evacuations, power cuts, and school suspensions. Over 20K people have already been evacuated in Qingyuan alone.

Hopefully, my friend here @essentialsaltes likes my shorter format summaries, instead of the four paragraph summaries I did prior to April 18, 2024.

God said, God Said, God Called, God Divided, God Saw.

We are having a discussion about the word DAY in Genesis chapter one at the beginning of the Bible. The first five Hebrew words in the Bible are: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth" According to the law of first mention all of the Bible is an explaination of the word Beginning because we are told: God declares the end from the beginning. The beginning of Creation was far less than a trillionth of a second. So let us just say everything began in a moment. What began: "Heaven and Earth". We currently believe that Heaven or the universe is 13.8 trillion years old. The earth is said to be 4.5 billion years old. If you use these numbers the first day was 9.3 billion years.

Then we are told God divided night and day, light and darkness. We are also told that God is light and there is no darkness in Him. I wonder about black holes and event horizons but that is another story. Here we see God said, God saw, God divided and God called.

What does said, saw, divided and called have to do with the first day? I think we need to examine this if we are going to decide if a day is 24 hours or 8 or 9 billion years.

3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

German far-right leader in court charged with using 1940s German slogan

Man, seems like Germany has issues with the far-right as well just as the US has the MAGA and fascist groups. The article is from a Guardian collaboration with the Associated Press: German far-right leader in court charged with using Nazi slogan

Any Germans here on Christian Forums, such as @Nithavela ? What are your thoughts on this news?

Short summary of the open-access article by The Guardian (<20% in length, for fair usage reasons):

Björn Höcke, a prominent far-right figure in Germany's Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party, stands trial on charges of using a Nazi slogan, "Everything for Germany!," during a speech in May 2021. Prosecutors claim Höcke, the leader of AfD's eastern state branch in Thuringia, was aware of the phrase's Nazi origins as a slogan of the SA stormtroopers. The trial began on April 18, 2024 and Höcke maintains his innocence, insisting he was unaware of the slogan's history. Demonstrators gathered outside the court to protest against Höcke and the AfD party. With Thuringia's state election approaching on September 1, 2024, and the AfD in first place in polls with around ~30% support, the party's strength complicates coalition formation. The AfD has been criticized for radicalization and extremist views, with its Thuringia branch under official surveillance as a "proven right-wing extremist" group. The party's leader in Berlin once called the Holocaust memorial a "monument of shame," and Höcke has been influential in moving the AfD further to the right.

Movies and Christianity

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9 ESV)

When I was a young adult, young in my Christian faith and practice, I was discerning and picky about what I would allow myself to watch on TV. I can’t say I did that perfectly, but I was guarded about what I watched and about what I would allow my children to watch. But little by little the influences of the world were introduced into my home via movie rentals, and then my husband and I became avid movie watchers. And little by little we allowed a little bit more than we did before until eventually we compromised too far.

And then the Lord convicted me that I needed to stop watching stuff that was dishonoring to him, and so I did, and then a few years later I asked my husband if he would do something with me, and if he would pray about it, for he professes faith in Jesus Christ. I asked him if he would take all of our movies, and we had a hundred of them, probably, and if he would examine each one of them with me against this Scripture in Philippians 4. So, we did that, and I think we only had two movies left that passed the test.

That was in 2008, I believe, which is when we also got rid of our TV. We didn’t have a TV again until just recently. Then a neighbor of ours was moving out and he could not take one of his TVs with him, and my husband asked him if he could have the TV. But at first we were using it for Wii bowling, which is bowling with a remote and not a real live ball, and on a TV screen, and not live and in person. For this is exercise for us, which we need, and physically it is the only bowling I can do because I have neuropathy in one leg.

But then he started looking at movies, and then I asked him about looking at Christian movies to see if there were any decent ones. For I had tried “Christian” films many years ago which were not much better than the non-Christian films because they were trying to be too realistic, and they were putting in my mind things I did not want there. And most of them that we saw that were called “Christian” didn’t even mention the name of Jesus, but they seemed more ecumenical with a generic “all fit” god.

Anyway, we found a group of movies on YouTube TV by the Christiano brothers, which have been clean cut, honoring to God, and promoting the truth of the gospel, from what I have seen so far. For in their stories they present faith in Jesus Christ as us repenting of our sins and then turning our lives over to Jesus Christ to follow him with our lives, under his command, and resulting in changed lives which are following Jesus in obedience and which are no longer living for the sinful pleasures of the flesh. Refreshing!

So this evening we watched another one of their movies called, “Power of the Air,” which is on YouTube, and is a Dave Christiano Film. And in this movie we were presented with the reality of the spiritual condition of the church in America, at large, and how so much (probably the majority) of what is called “church” is so far from God and from who he saved and called us to be and to do. For so many professing Christians are so worldly and they are living not much different from those non-professers of faith.

And the film largely centered on movie watching and how so many people who call themselves Christians today are busy entertaining themselves with the garbage that the world is putting out and so their lives are not surrendered to Jesus Christ, and they are not walking in obedience to his commands, and so they are not the light of the world and the salt of the earth shining the light of the gospel to the people of the world, because they are joining in with the world in being entertained by the world.

And as I was thinking about all of this, and how that used to be me, too, but how the Lord has turned my life around – all glory to God – then the Lord put the lyrics to a secular song in my mind which describes how many professing Christians today approach faith in Jesus Christ. It is much like some of the lyrics to the secular song, “I Have Nothing,” which was famously sung by Whitney Houston:

“Share my life, take me for what I am
'Cause I'll never change all my colors for you
Take my love, I'll never ask for too much
Just all that you are and everything that you do.”

[By Carlo Donida / Giulio Mogol Rapetti / Jerry Leiber / Mike Stoller

They want Jesus Christ, but on their terms, not on his terms. And they want him to do for them whatever they want him to do, but they want Jesus to take them just as they are, for they don’t intend to change who they are and what they do, because they don’t believe they have to. For many are being taught that they don’t have to do anything. But while it is true that we can do nothing to earn nor to deserve our own salvation, in our own flesh, true biblical faith in Jesus Christ requires death to sin and living to God.

For Jesus said that his true sheep listen to (heed) him, he knows them, and they follow him in obedience (John 10:27-30), and they have eternal life, and they will not perish, etc. And he also taught that if anyone would come after him, he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin and to self) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for Jesus’ sake we deny self, die daily to sin, and walk in obedience to his commands, then we have the hope of salvation from sin and eternal life with God (Luke 9:23-26).

The Spirit Calling

An Original Work / November 12, 2019

Hear the Spirit calling.
He’ll keep you from falling.
Tenderly He’s calling,
“Come and follow Him.”

Walk with Jesus daily.
Don’t give in to lazy.
Folks may call you crazy.
Fellowship with Him.

Follow where He leads you.
Eat what Jesus feeds you.
His love will renew you
If you follow Him.

Do what Jesus tells you.
Don’t let your faith fail you.
His love will avail you
If you walk with Him.

Jesus, Lord and Savior,
Reigneth now forever.
He gave us His favor
So we’d live with Him.

Turning now from our sin,
Holy Spirit live-in.
Holiness we walk in,
Purified by Him.

WW III Already Begun

So says this article:

"We are already fighting World War III. No, it is not empires marching armies through countries, conquering continents. And no, it isn’t millions of young men (and now women) pressed in uniform on scales of nearly 100 years ago. And no, in most societies where war is a constant, the public doesn’t even have to feel the pain of war, except in that the military dominates everything and robs everything else of resources: programs to fight poverty, food, housing, health care, transportation, climate change.

World War III instead is all around, a planet that is aflame with armed conflict and awash in arms sales, an overlapping Venn diagram of killing that engulfs the globe, and a constant bonanza for national security “experts” and the military–industrial complex.

Let’s take a tour of the battlefield.

In the Middle East, the U.S., Turkey, Iraq, and even Iran all have footholds in Syria as their internal civil war continues unabated. And all of it goes unremarked most of the time as people look elsewhere for World War II-like battles. Iranian; Iranian-funded or backed or inspired; or independent militias in Syria and Iraq target U.S. troops in Syria, Iraq, and now Jordan. The United States bombs, but so does Israel, and Turkey, and other silent partners of Washington in the war against Iran, and Syria, and ISIS, and Hezbollah. The fight against ISIS, Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S. says, involves 80-plus “partners” fighting not just in Syria and Iraq, but also in Afghanistan and Libya. A coalition of 80-plus countries — but the U.S. is loath to name them all, especially the allied “special” operators who are clandestinely working on the ground.

What we do know is that 10 countries have been involved in airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, including the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, and South Korea. Like so many other conflicts, it’s not altogether clear who bombed who or from where, nor other members of the supporting cast. The U.S. bombs from aircraft carriers and from the Gulf states, and from Kuwait and Jordan, and possibly even from Saudi Arabia and Oman. But World War III is about keeping things secret, so who knows.

In the Red Sea, these same countries — plus France, Italy, Norway, Seychelles, Spain, Greece, Finland, Australia, and Sri Lanka — have joined to fend off Houthi attacks at sea. Even more countries are allegedly participating in the coalition in secret, given the sensitivities surrounding support for Israel during its war with Hamas. But then there’s also the war against pirates, and the war against nuclear proliferation, and the war against arms smuggling, and the Middle East war even against drugs, all carried out by a vast international maritime fleet involving dozens of countries.

While Israel’s war in Gaza, and its back and forth with Iran, is atop the Billboard charts for now, in Ukraine, a trench war and a standoff has now dragged on for more than two years. Here as well, all eyes have been on some kind of decisive victory or defeat, but World War III is more characterized by Ukraine or its proxies regularly attacking targets inside Mother Russia, attacks that Moscow downplays. Russians fighting on the Ukrainian side are now making regular incursions into Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk regions. Meanwhile, the real World War III is NATO already at war with Russia, increasing its activities adjacent to the enemy, expanding its ranks, building up its military, and supplying arms to Ukraine. The United States, meanwhile, is deployed from Norway to Bulgaria, and has in the past two years built up a major new base in Poland. Meanwhile, Iran and North Korea have played their part in shuttling drones, missiles, and artillery shells into the Russian war effort.

Though the blatant Russian invasion seems to embody the old-fashioned concept of occupying armies and World War II, the reality is that Ukraine never turned into “the largest tank battle” ever, as some predicted, nor did it “escalate” to nuclear war, nor has it even been decisive.

The war in Ukraine is certainly the world-altering event of the past five years, but even here, without more borders crossed, without escalation, and without Russia and NATO shooting at each other directly, some mighty lessons can be learned. Armies clashing is an illusion. World War III is thus not some conquering army sweeping its way across the continent. At no time have more than 300,000 soldiers been on the battlefield in Ukraine at any one time; in World War II, it was nearly 10 million facing each other on a daily basis (and some 125 million mobilized overall). Because of the greater lethality of weapons, military casualties in Ukraine have been enormous. But most of the ground engagements have taken place at the company or even platoon level; massing too many troops in one place is just too dangerous in today’s world. And this has all unfolded while neither Russia nor Ukraine have been able to harness airpower in the same way the United States has. Other than Vladimir Putin’s heartless offensive that used young Russian men as cannon fodder, few nations want to fight this way, preferring long-range air and missile (and now drone) attacks.

South of Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Armenia continue to simmer. Last year, Azerbaijan attacked the breakaway republic of Artsakh. With the backing of Turkey and Israeli weapons, Azerbaijan attempted to permanently squash the ethnic Armenian enclave, successfully driving tens of thousands of civilians into neighboring countries.

Past the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, the South China Sea is also brimming with maritime conflict. Constant Chinese naval passes around the borders of Taiwan are supplemented with close calls with South Korea, Japan and the Philippines (and the United States). Meanwhile, Myanmar’s civil war continues unabated.

On the Korean Peninsula, North Korea continues nuclear testing and the unannounced firing of ballistic missiles into the ocean, and tensions are a constant background noise of war games, military incursions, and cross-border incidents. Thousands of artillery batteries stare each other down across the Demilitarized Zone, as South Korea points the finger at North Korean technology used in Iranian missiles launched toward Israel. And, of course, the United States and other “partners” are active on the ground.

In a world of supposed “international order,” India and Pakistan continue to fight over their common border, as they have been doing for decades. And India and China face off, another flashpoint that could spell World War III to some but one that is already here in reality.

In Africa, military forces, terrorists, militants, mercenaries, militias, bandits, pirates, and separatists are active, according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project, in Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Sudan. China and Russia scramble for bases and influence (China already has a base in Djibouti). Russia’s Wagner Group is active in Africa and involved in combat, and in the past two months, Rwandan military forces have attacked targets in the DRC, and Morocco has conducted drone strikes on Polisario fighters near the Western Sahara border.

On the African continent, the U.S., France, and the U.K. have been engaged in expansive yet clandestine fighting, supposedly against Islamic terrorists, while all around the continent smolders and neither can claim any long-term wins on the dual fronts of counterterrorism and peacekeeping. American troops operating in Niger are stuck as the country’s U.S. government-trained junta claims America’s footprint is illegal. The United States has also been bombing targets in Somalia for years now, and the African Union mission in Somalia has been actively involved in combating al-Shabab.

U.S. forces continue to fan out across Latin America and the Caribbean, using missile cruisers to intercept drug smuggling submarines, sending marine anti-terrorism teams into a fully destabilized Haiti, and fast-tracking exports of helicopters, aircraft, and naval drones to Guyana as its neighbor Venezuela hungrily eyes its oil reserves. Senior Biden administration officials have floated sending U.S. troops into the treacherous swatch of jungle connecting South and Central America known as the Darién Gap to stem the flow of migrants and drugs across the U.S. southern border.

And what even happened to neutrality in the past few years? Switzerland and Austria have provided arms to Ukraine. Sweden and Finland have joined NATO. Only little Costa Rica, Iceland, Mauritius, Panama, and Vanuatu have no formal armed forces, but even there, Iceland is a very active member of NATO and Panama is a close military ally of the U.S. Speaking of small countries taking on big fights, Fiji and Luxembourg both count themselves as members of the global coalition to defeat ISIS.

Ubiquitous warfare, our World War III, paints a worldwide picture that is overwhelming, leaving little room to imagine that something can be done about it. And it’s hard not to conclude that the superpowers and the national security “community” aren’t somehow satisfied with the status quo. But as with addiction, the first step toward recovery is admitting you have a problem — or in this case, a global war.

And they forgot to mention the US could erupt into civil war like 2020 or worse, and it's an election year with the same players talking and acting more ugly than they did in 2020

And a war over the border between Venezuela and Guyana could also occur

Jesus saves us from the wrath to come...

Peace in Christ.

The world passes away…NOW….as God judges those on the outside world. The people of this world mortally die (perish) from off this earth under the wrath of God that arises (like the sun) upon all people.

But he that does the will of God ABIDES here in this world to the coming age in which the heavens and the earth will be free of His wrath. That person REMAINS here....alive and remaining just as Caleb who remained alive in the desert while the rest passed away.

1Jn 2:17 KJV
(17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Young's Literal Translation
and the world doth pass away, and the desire of it, and he who is doing the will of God, he doth remain -- to the a
ge.

The wrath of God IS REVEALED from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold down (suppress) the Truth in their unrighteousness. The understanding of the gospel of our Lord Jesus is being held down by men who are preaching themselves for their own earthly necessities….handling the Word of God deceitfully for their own gain.

Rom 1:18 KJV

(18) For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

The gospel is hid to those “preachers” that are mortally perishing away from this earth under God’s wrath that they are still abiding under. They do not understand the gospel and so they are not preaching it with its true meaning to those that are being led astray by them.

2Co 4:3-5
(3) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost (PERISHING):
(4) In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
(5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

The Lord is not willing that any should perish (mortally die from this earth under His wrath) but that all (His people) should come to repentance.

2Pe 3:9 KJV
(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

He turns man to destruction and says “return, you children of men”….come to repentance. He is not willing that man should “perish” ( mortally destroyed under His wrath) but to come to repentance and have an age-lasting life ….to be delivered from the wrath to come by crossing from death unto life now in this earth.

His wrath on us (the house of God...the dwelling place) is described in Psalms 90. His wrath cuts down our mortal bodies. We flourish in the morning of our lives and grow up…but in the evening, we are cut down and wither (under the sun of His arising wrath).

Psa 90:3-7 KJV
(3) Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
(4) For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
(5) Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
(6) In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cu
t down, and withereth.
(7) For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

Our days of our years are 70…or maybe 80+. But we are soon cut off (from this earth) and fly away because of His wrath that comes upon us.

Psa 90:10-11 KJV
(10) The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
(11) Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.

But this is the promise that He has promised us: an age-lasting life. We are delivered from that wrath to come by Jesus.

1Jn 2:25-26
(25) And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal (AGE-LASTING) life.

(26) These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come….the cutting down of our mortal bodies from this earth. We shall abide here and not be removed.

1Th 1:10 KJV
(10) And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

We are to continue to mortally live here….abiding… until the redemption of our mortal body which happens at the “last trump”….and we enter into the coming age.

But some will hear the Word of Truth….the gospel of our mortal salvation….and will scoff “where is the promise of His coming”? Where is the promise of an age-lasting life for all have mortally died since the beginning of the creation?

Those who will continue to walk after their own lusts will not be able help themselves when they will hear the truth of the gospel of our Lord and Savior.

Their response will be exactly the same among all of them. It will be their default response. You will hear it over and over again from all of them. Where is this age-lasting life as it hasn’t happened yet? It has not been made manifest in this earth because of their unrighteousness which blinds them to the true gospel. They still abide in death…under the wrath of God…and have not passed from death unto life.

2Pe 3:3-4 KJV
(3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The “day of the Lord” in this context in 2nd Peter 3 speaks of our own personal death…the day the Lord comes to take us away from this earth…the day that we perish from this world. It comes as a thief in the night as we do not know when it will happen.

2Pe 3:9-10

(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The KJV is a horrible translation of 2nd Peter.

The heavens COME NEAR (not “pass away” as translated) to us in the day we “fly away” from this earth.

The Greek word is “parerchomai” which means to “come near” or “approach or arrive”. The heavens approach to take us away in the day of our mortal death. They come near with a great noise….that is, a whirring sound (rhoizēdon = a whir, whizzingly).

That “whir” is the sound of whirlwind.

The “elements” (the founding principles) that burn are the works of the church handwritings of ordinances. They do not save us from His wrath as they burn us up with the using up of them. We mortally perish with the using of them. They are “dissolved” from our lives by our departure from this earth. They were meaningless to keep and serve.

The earth burns up because we are removed from it. This is from the perspective of our mortal death. T

This earth remains….it is our mortal bodies that burn up from it under the wrath of God. We wither away and are cut down from it in death. Church works do not keep our mortal bodies here in this earth. They are “dissolved” as we shall no longer keep them when our mortal bodies are removed from here.

(10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away (come near) with a great noise (whirring sound =whirlwind), and the elements shall melt (that burn) with fervent heat (shall be dissolved), the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

As the passing by of a hurricane (whirlwind), so the wicked is not. The passing by of the heavens that approaches with a “whirring” sound comes to take the wicked away from this earth in the day of the Lord that comes to remove each of us because of ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold down the gospel of Truth.

But the righteous are left here in this earth until the coming age. The righteous is a “foundation” age-lasting.

Proverbs 10:25
Young's Literal Translation

As the passing by of a hurricane, So the wicked is not, And the righteous is a foundation age-during.

How many wish for the “day of the LORD” for themselves. They think it will be glorious time when they “get to Heaven”…. “what a rejoicing it will be”.

But not so. Why desire that day of the Lord for what end is it for/to you (singular)? It is darkness not light. It is not a day for rejoicing. It is a day of darkness and not light.

Amo 5:18-20 KJV
(18) Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.

It comes with a “sting”…the sting of death…a realization we have died without knowing the true gospel of our Lord.

We have been “bit”…that is, STUNG…by the serpent who deceived us and we had mortally perished by believing in the false prophets version of the “gospel”.

(19) As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.

(20) Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

We will then have the realization (the “sting” ) that we had been duped by the false prophets into serving the sin which led to our mortal death. The sting of our death is because of the sin we had served. The wages of the sin is the death….the death of the mortal body.

1Co 15:56 KJV

(56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

We had been serving IMAGES (idols)….the church handwriting of ordinances …whereby we had judged others (serving the sin unto death).

We must turn from images to serve the living and true God. Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come (our mortal death).

1Th 1:9-10 KJV
(9) For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

(10) And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

So where did 2nd Peter 3:10 come from? Elisha was allowed to see this manner of being removed from this earth as Elijah went up by a whirlwind into Heaven.

The heavens come with the sound of whir….as in a whirlwind…to take us away from this earth. This is the not the way we want to go there. We are “saved”…but only as by fire…by the wrath of God that burns us up so that our spirit is saved.

2Ki 2:11-12 KJV
(11) And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Elisha mourned this sight as he took hold of his clothes and rent them in 2 pieces.

(12) And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

Our works shall be burned up….and our mortal bodies also ((the temple of God is destroyed). We shall suffer loss….our souls and our mortal body…but our spirit shall be saved yet so as by fire.

1Co 3:15-17 KJV
(15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
(16) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
(17) If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye ar
e.

Rather it be this way….not seeing death at all and be transferred over in due time…to the vanishing point.

Heb 11:5 KJV
(5) By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Transgender Activist and Influencer Dylan Mulvaney to Speak at Catholic St. Louis University

Transgender activist and influencer is scheduled to speak at St. Louis University, a Catholic institution, on Monday.

The university recently barred the College Republicans from hosting women’s sports activist Paula Scanlan, according to the student group.

According to a report from College Fix:

The event will be hosted by the private institution’s Student Activities Board and its Great Issues Committee, which works to “spark dialogue, engage in critical thinking, and have fun,” according to its Instagram bio.

Mulvaney is slated to “talk about her experiences as a trans actress, activist, and content creator,” according to the university’s website.

What are we doing?

The video was taken Saturday night at Columbia University, less than 24 hours ago, of woman below holding a sign pointing to the Jewish students and their friends who were holding Israeli and American flags and singing songs religious. It was their attempt at a small counter protest on campus, not that they have any numbers.

The sign says

Al-Qasam's next targets

For those who don't know Al-Qasam brigade is the military portion of Hamas who operates in Gaza and the West Bank.

So here we have someone on a university campus in America making a specific terrorist threat. Openly and without any fear.

as for the Jewish students the whole group was attacked and run off in the end by the openly professing terrorists who are operating freely on Columbia's campus.

The local Rabbi associated with the students has now told all the Jewish students to leave campus and go to their homes and stay at home until the situation on campus has changed because neither the school nor the police are providing for the safety of the Jewish students.

I'll quote here from FOX news:

In a WhatsApp message sent to hundreds before the start of Passover, Rabbi Elie Buechler, director of OU-LJIC at Columbia/Barnard, told students to leave "as soon as possible" until the situation improves, noting that "what we are witnessing in and around campus is terrible and tragic."

"The events of the last few days, especially last night, have made it clear that Columbia University’s Public Safety and the NYPD cannot guarantee Jewish students’ safety in the face of extreme antisemitism and anarchy," Buechler wrote. "It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home as soon as possible and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved.

The rabbi added: "It is not our job as Jews to ensure our own safety on campus. No one should have to endure this level of hatred, let alone at school."

Plus this begins Passover. The FBI is on heightened alert and is supposedly watching every Jewish Center in America in the hopes of keeping them safe from terroristic attacks.

(If Biden even really cares to since Hamas appears as his new voting block the Democratic party is currently appeasing)

Politico also recently published an article detailing an anti semitic sentiment at levels never seen in the history of the school.

What are we doing here? Why are we allowing this?

They are turning students into anarchists and terrorists and Marxist's at these American Universities.

University professors who are pushing this anti American and anti Jewish sentiment needs to be fired immediately and deported if they are not American citizens, as well as the university leadership who turns a blind eye.

We also need to end all Qatari funding of American Universities, it should be illegal for Iran's proxies to be funding universities in order to create good little American terrorists on American soil.

We need to be putting a stop to this and not simply saying oh that's fine. It's not fine and it will never be fine.

This is not American.

Stewardship of the Earth & Climate Change (Genesis 2:15, Isaiah 24:4-6, Jeremiah 2:7)

With Earth Day just around the corner, on April 22nd, it is imperative for us Christians to be good stewards of the Earth. These are three verses straight out of the Bible that urge us to take care of Creation. Rules: No debates allowed.

Date
April 21, 2024
Verse
Genesis 2:15: "The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."

Isaiah 24:4-6: "The earth dries up and withers, the world languishes and withers, the heavens languish with the earth. The earth is defiled by its people; they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt. Therefore earth’s inhabitants are burned up, and very few are left."

Jeremiah 2:7: "I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But you came and defiled my land and made my inheritance detestable."
Explanation
These verses from the Bible, Genesis 2:15, Jeremiah 2:7, and Isaiah 24:4-6, speak to the relationship between humanity and the Earth, highlighting our role as stewards and the consequences of disobedience and neglect.

Genesis 2:15 sets the stage for God placing Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it, indicating a divine mandate for humans to tend to the Earth. This responsibility extends beyond just working the land but also involves taking good care of it.

Jeremiah 2:7 emphasizes God's provision of a fertile land for His people to enjoy its fruit and rich produce, but they defiled it instead. This verse serves as a reminder that we are not the owners of the Earth but rather caretakers, and our actions have consequences on the land and future generations.

Isaiah 24:4-6 speaks of the Earth being defiled by its people due to their disobedience and violation of divine laws. The passage suggests a curse upon the Earth, leading to scarcity and destruction. This verse relates to modern issues such as anthropogenic global warming and pollution in that human actions are causing detrimental effects on the Earth, ultimately affecting its ability to sustain life as intended.
Life Anecdote
In the context of our modern world, these verses call us to be good stewards of the Earth and apply biblical principles to mitigate environmental degradation. Here are some ways we can apply these verses to our lives in 2024:

1. Cultivate a mindset of care and respect for the Earth as God's creation, acknowledging our responsibility to tend to it.
2. Reduce our carbon footprint by using renewable energy sources such as wind and solar and adopting ecological practices in daily life (ex. composting, using energy efficient LED bulbs, riding a bike to the store, driving small fuel-efficient Japanese hybrids/crossovers).
3. Support and advocate for environmentally sustainable policies, including reducing plastic use, promoting recycling, investing in public transport & mixed-use urban developments, and minimizing waste.
4. Practice conservation by preserving natural resources and protecting habitats for various species.
5. Educate ourselves and others about the importance of caring for the Earth as a moral imperative, rather than just an environmental concern.
6. Pray for God's guidance in our efforts to be good stewards of the Earth and ask for His help in overcoming challenges related to caring for creation.

Meet the Women Defying the ‘Birth Dearth’

‘Hannah’s Children’ offers a glimpse into countercultural women having five babies — or more.

Populations are collapsing globally. The total fertility rate (TFR) during a woman’s childbearing years has declined by more than 50% over the past 70 years, from around five children for each female in 1950 to 2.2 children in 2021, with more than half of all countries and territories (110 of 204) below 2.1 births.

According to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, in the U.S., since 2007, the total fertility rate has declined from 2.12, which is just above the replacement level set by demographic tradition at 2.10 births per woman, to 1.67 in 2022, leading many to speculate that our country has entered a sustained period of what is considered below-replacement fertility.

This situation captured the attention of Catherine Pakaluk, Ph.D., director of social research and associate professor at The Catholic University of America.

“Growing up, I heard people complaining that the world would be overpopulated, but in the last 25 years, it has become clear that we don’t have enough children,” she told the Register. “When a country is shrinking, economic output shrinks along with family sizes. Most sociologists and economists around the world are studying the reasons why people won’t or can’t have children. I thought that I could add to the conversation by talking to those who are having children.”
