Emotional protest takes over Tennessee Capitol following school shooting

“People are heartbroken and angry, and the sense of powerlessness is really, really strong because our legislatures generally try to ignore this stuff, so we wanted to get in their faces today,” said Maryam Abolfazli, a volunteer with Awake TN.

Hundreds made their voices heard Thursday, from outside in the streets to inside the building.

“We shouldn’t have to come here to ask you to do what’s right to do your job,” Shaundealle Brooks said.

The large crowd inside the Capitol could be heard chanting, “Ban assault rifles.”

Outside the chamber doors, tense moments followed the rally. The outcry turned chaotic at times, especially as lawmakers came out of the chambers.

Capitol security had to clear a path for lawmakers, pushing through the crowd of protesters who demanded to be heard.

That's coming off the heels of this story

Hundreds of Kentucky students converged on the steps of the state Capitol Annex to protest the override. Many protesters moved inside once the legislature gaveled in, chanting and jeering loudly from the Capitol’s halls.

At first, Capitol security and Kentucky State Police struggled to remove the protesters from the gallery. After about half an hour, they resorted to using zip ties to apprehend the protesters and lead them out of the Capitol.

19 people were apprehended, each person was cited for criminal trespassing 3rd degree, and the Franklin County District Court allowed for them to be released on their own recognizance.

To be clear, I'm not trying say that these events are a perfect apples to apples comparison with the events of Jan 6th. However, I do feel that events like these (and in the CHAZ/CHOP --which to my knowledge, was treated very leniently) do exist on the same spectrum.

So, where on that spectrum of "normal protesting <-> barging into government buildings uninvited" does the line get drawn that takes an action from being a "slap on the wrist, you're free to go" to being "lengthy jail sentence"-worthy?

Why did America allow slavery?

People can be a slave to sin. But before the civil war, we had what they call chattel when one person owned another. How could anyone ever think something like this should be legal? They talk about slavery in the Bible, but that had to do with debt and you could only hold a person for 7 years. Then you had to set them free. If it was a prisoner of war the Jubilee was every 50 years. So no matter what, slavery could not go from generation to generation the way it did in Southern or Rebel America.

Federal judge temporarily halts Tennessee's 'drag ban' law on free speech grounds

Judge Thomas Parker cited constitutional protections of freedom of speech in issuing a temporary restraining order.

“If Tennessee wishes to exercise its police power in restricting speech it considers obscene, it must do so within the constraints and framework of the United States Constitution,” Parker wrote.

What do homeless people need?

When I was 18 I lived out of a backpack. In the army, we live out of a duffel bag. We can only have what we can fit in the bag and carry with us. If it does not fit, or if we can not carry it on our backs, then we do not need it.

Should taxpayers pay for what people do not need? What do they need? The government seems to feel we have a poverty level and we need to live above that level to provide for our needs. Is that accurate?

The Hasidic say there is a lot we do not need. We may want to eat but if we are overweight then we do not need to eat. How much do we need to pay for a home? Musk seems to be wanting to determine that for us. He is building a small home and claims that is all he needs when he is on the job and working. Of course, he has rich friends that let him stay in their homes.

I really wonder. What do we need in life? Does a homeless person still have what they need?

Losing faith.. Pray for me

Good morning all, please pray for me. I have been suffering from health problems. My health improved for a brief period of time. Now my condition is worse than every before. I have one foot in the wheelchair. My condition is self-inflicted albeit unintentionally. Now I suffer from anxiety as well as this medical condition.

For MONTHS I've prayed and prayed and prayed, no relief. I've read my Bible, no relief. I tithe, no relief. I haven't gone to church in a year. I was given a copy of Our Daily Bread, which I threw away. My family and 'friends' are indifferent towards my condition. Believe me, I've tried praying and reading. Yet I feel as if God does not want to hear me. It's as if he cuts me off halfway, as would a stern and indifferent father would do to their son.

I frequently hear of people passing away at work. I see men in wheelchairs. I see commercials advertising life insurance on TV. I'm currently searching for 'alternative' methods of relief.

Pray for me because I can no longer pray for myself. Thanks.

Rick Warren disfellowshipped over woman pastors

Well this is surprising given the influence of Rick Warren and the Saddleback church...

"Southern Baptist Convention Disfellowships Saddleback Church

One of the country’s biggest and best-known megachurches, Saddleback Church, is no longer a part of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) after bringing on a female teaching pastor last year.

Saddleback was among five churches with female pastors who were deemed “no longer in friendly cooperation” with the denomination at a meeting of the SBC Executive Committee in Nashville on Tuesday.

The Lake Forest, California, congregation ordained three women from the stage in May 2021, a decision that rattled some Southern Baptists who believe the role of pastor is reserved for men. Then last year, Saddleback selected Andy Wood as Rick Warren’s successor and the church’s lead pastor, and his wife Stacie Wood came on as a teaching pastor."... Southern Baptist Convention Disfellowships Saddleback Church

I personally think this is just another issue that divides Christians rather than unite, as we saw in the Adventist church with womans ordination, but then what is the answer.

Backsliding and anger

I feel like I have backslidden from my faith recently, and I want to repent.

My other request is that I am struggling with holding grudges and I feel like I have become a meaner person overall. Please pray that I will overcome my grudges and get better at forgiving others, and that I also start acting more Christlike.

Ruled by Emotions

Isaiah 30:1-2 ESV

“Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord,
“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
who set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!”

As it was then, so it is today, at least here in America it is. My heart is breaking because of all the deception and all the manipulation of minds and emotions that is going on in the name of Jesus Christ, and in the name of the gospel of our salvation, and in the name of Christianity. It is mindboggling how much deception is prevalent among the people who call themselves Christians here in America. And what is worse is that so many of them don’t even want to hear about it. They refuse to see it!

What I am particularly noticing in our present time is how many movies and TV dramas and cartoons are now being created about Jesus Christ, and about other biblical characters. And Christians are flocking to these dramatic presentations, which are largely for entertainment purposes. And what happens then, though not with everyone, is that Christians begin to receive and to accept the philosophy being taught in these dramatizations as though they are truth, and as though they are Scripture, when many are not.

Now, I am certainly not claiming that these dramatizations are all lies. I don’t believe they are. For the thing about deception is that it is not usually bold faced lies which are easy to discern, but they are hidden, and they are so cleverly blended in with the truth that they sound like truth to those who do not know the Scriptures. And deception appeals to human emotions, and so many people are being led by their emotions. And deception uses the art of misimpressions to give people wrong impressions which they then adopt.

Then the people “fall in love” with these dramatizations, which then become for many of them their Bible, of sorts, which defines for them the Scriptures and the character of God and of Jesus Christ, and that of other biblical characters who were followers of God. And then I see that some books have been or are being created based off these dramatizations, and my fear there is that many will receive these books in place of the Scriptures and will follow them and their teachings in place of following the Scriptures.

I already see that happening with many of these “memes” on social media. Many Christians “share” these memes with their friends because the memes themselves sound good and feel good, and they touch them emotionally, and the emotions are very powerful. But then they adopt the messages in these memes as though they are biblical truth when so many of them are not, but are a clever blend of truth and lies. And this really is all about impressions, i.e. about giving people false impressions which are hard to point out.

And so we have many people professing faith in Jesus Christ who are making other humans and institutions of men and videos and movies their gods, or their gospel, in place of the one true God, and in place of the Scriptures, and if you try to point this out to them, it seems most do not want to hear it. They will either ignore you, fight against you, or on social media they will just “unfriend” or “unfollow” you rather than being willing to engage in a conversation about the deception, because they want the lies more.

Isaiah 30:8-11 ESV

“And now, go, write it before them on a tablet
and inscribe it in a book,
that it may be for the time to come
as a witness forever.
For they are a rebellious people,
lying children,
children unwilling to hear
the instruction of the Lord;
who say to the seers, ‘Do not see,’
and to the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy to us what is right;
speak to us smooth things,
prophesy illusions,
leave the way, turn aside from the path,
let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel.’”

Oh, this is absolutely the truth! And this has been going on for a very long time. And now we live in a culture which is very feelings oriented, and very much steered (convinced, moved) by impressions. And they have been taught for generations that they can “believe” (not usually biblically defined) in Jesus Christ one time in their lives, and now all their sins are forgiven (past, present, and future), and now heaven is guaranteed them when they die, but regardless of how they live.

And so we have many people professing faith in Jesus Christ who were never crucified with Christ in death to sin, and who were never raised with Christ to walk in newness of life in him, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. For they continued on in their sinful practices and didn’t “miss a beat.” And so they are not walking in obedience to the Lord in holiness and in righteousness, because they have been convinced that they don’t have to, that nothing else is required of them.

And so many of them are contending with and are fighting against the truth of the gospel and its messengers, or else they are just ignoring the truth or they are cutting the truth tellers out of their lives. For so many have been convinced that the lies are the truth and that the truth is a lie. And, again, so much of this has to do with feelings and with impressions. And the feelings are ruling over the doctrines of the Scriptures in favor of what makes people feel good while rejecting what doesn’t make them feel good.

So, if you are someone who is teaching the truth of the gospel, which has to do with us daily dying to sin and denying self and following Jesus Christ in obedience (see Luke 9:23-26), you may be coming up against this, as well, with other professers of faith in Jesus Christ trying to convince you to lighten up and to soften the message and to make it more appealing and acceptable to the ungodly of this world. And you may find yourself largely ostracized by “the church” because you are too serious, which they call being “negative.”

Isaiah 30:15 ESV

”For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel,
‘In returning and rest you shall be saved;
in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.’”

Now, this isn’t all there is to it. For the Scriptures teach that we must forsake our sinful practices, and that we must follow our Lord in obedience and in holy and righteous living. For if we do not, and if we continue in deliberate and habitual sin, making sin our practice, and so righteousness is not our practice, then according to the Scriptures, we will not inherit eternal life with God. And we will not enter God’s heaven, regardless of the faith that we profess with our lips. And Jesus will say to many in that day, “I never knew you! Depart from me you workers of lawlessness,” because they wouldn’t obey the Lord and his gospel.

For Our Nation

An Original Work / September 11, 2012

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.

Baptism, part 6

All of the men I quoted would claim they were "men of God" who strove to teach Scripture to the common people. All of them are held in high esteem, not just in the Catholic Church (except Luther), but among many historians and commentators. I doubt if any of them were true believers! To say the horrible, evil, and wicked things they said and thought cannot be reconciled with how Scripture portrays a believer, especially how a teacher of Scripture should think and speak. Yeshua clearly taught that a believer should "love his enemies," and even if these wicked men thought the Jews to be their enemies, they had been commanded to love the Jews!
Concerning the teaching of Scripture, by their very words they all showed that they knew very well the importance of the teaching in the O.T. They knew that if the people discovered the truth of this that the people would find out that they were being taught a false image of Scripture and would reject their teaching.
Everything they worked toward was to create a picture that God hated the Jews, had rejected the Jewish people as a whole, sent Jesus to create, start from scratch, the "Church," which was strictly Gentile in nature, that the "Church" had replaced Israel. The promises and blessings for the Jewish people had been transferred to Gentiles and the "Church" represented the "true Israel", the Israel God had "imagined."

It wasn't enough to eliminate any trace of Judaism when "presenting" the gospel to pagan Gentiles, the had to present a faith that would appeal to the Hellenistic view of life, philosophy and religion (Hellenism was the dominate cultural influence among all Gentiles, regardless of nationality or bloodline). To the average Gentile, even if they did not personally dislike the Jews, the "religion" of the Jews was strange and unlike any of the pagan religions. So, to make "Christianty" more appealing, it was presented as if it was Greek in nature.
And today, the fact that the New Testament ended up as thousands of Greek manuscripts, to the point that most people believe that the writers of the New Testament all spoke and wrote in Greek. That the New Testament was specifically written in Greek because it was a language used by many different cultures in the known world and this would enable Gentiles to be able to read the New Testament for themselves, or for those who literate, the New Testament could be read to them in Greek.

The separation sought by those evil men hundreds of years ago has borne much fruit. The idea that the O.T. and N.T. are separate books of the bible, that the O.T. is only concerned mostly with Jewish history and presented as if its main goal was to show how Yeshua, prophesized and pointed to by the festivals and sacrifices, had finally arrived. and the New Testament is completely focused on the "Church" and future events, the end times and that Jesus never looked back to the O.T. As if Judaism no longer played any role in the N.T era. I distinctly remember "pastors" talking about theology when in the N.T., but I can't recall any talk about the "theology" of the O.T. I only discovered this when at a book store and I saw a book titled Old Testament Theology, a few weeks after I began to study.
However, what those men started, others got on that train and added to what had been accomplished. The testaments had not only been separated, men had turned things around to the point where not only the two books not connected, that God acted one way in the O.T. and in a completely different way in the N.T. That with the Jews He was harsh, mean, vindictive and demanding. In the N.T. He is all about love, love, mercy, and kindness. In the O.T. He told you what to do and if you disobeyed, there was a price to pay. In the N.T. He hopes you will choose to obey Him. In the O.T. God did as he saw fit, He did as He wanted to. In the N.T., God can only have a desire, "God wants to..." They went so far as to create a "personal devil" who acts in the same way, with the same power, as God did in the O.T. in an effort to explain how and why the "bad things" that happened in the O.T. and are still happening in the N.T., were no longer a direct result of God taking action, but were the work of "the enemy." Let me show some examples of how things are taught in the O.T. compared to the N.T
O.T. God is sovereign
N.T. God is only in control.

O.T. Worship was to bow down and obey God.
N.T. Worship is singing, playing music and giving money.

O.T. God punished sin
N.T. God overlooks sin.

O.T. God doesn't love all people, only the Jews and a few Gentiles.
N.T. God loves everybody.

O.T. God was angry, vengeful and filled with wrath.
N.T. God is all about love, kindness and mercy.

O.T. Temple
N.T. Church

O.T. the tithe was on food, food products and livestock, not every Jew tithed.
N.T., the tithe is 10% of everybody's income.

O.T. The tithe was to be eaten.
N.T. the tithe is put into the bank.

O.T. The tithe went to the Levites first.
N.T. The tithe goes to the church leaders.

O.T. God caused sickness, disease and natural disasters.
N.T. Satan/demons cause these things.

O.T. God made man in His image.
N.T. Man made God in his image.

O.T. God chose who He purposed to be saved.
N.T. Man decides if he gets saved or not and God has no say about it.

O.T. God's will is the most powerful force in the universe and no man can stop God from preforming His will
N.T. Man's will is the most powerful force in the universe and God is unable to go against man's will

When I started to study, I greatly emphasized the Greek language and Greek words. I believed this because this has been the main attitude among scholars and others for many years and the Greek words gave a more exact meaning of Scripture. So, when I was in the O.T., Hebrew was the focus, and Greek words in the N.T. I had thought that every Greek word used was the exact equivalent to the Hebrew words spoken in the N.T.
But the longer I studied, the more I learned. But, I also became aware that things I didn't know were in play, things that directly affect the study of Scripture. The first and most important fact was that everything in the New Testament is Jewish! There is nothing from the Gentile world that is taught in the N.T. Then I learned that everything taught in the New Testament (Except for Paul's teaching of marriage between an unbeliever and believer) comes straight from the Old Testament. And then I learned that Strong's Concordance and Thayer's Lexicon were not 100% accurate. Not only did they give the wrong definitions, Strong's included made-up words!

And then today, I came across something that showed why Strong's included made up words. From a site called The Torah Source, "...the "definitions given for any particular Hebrew and Greek word listed in the Strong's Dictionary are simply all of the English words chosen by the KJV translators for a particular word. Thus Strong's "Dictionary" is not actually a dictionary at all, and clearly not a lexicon, but rather a listing of the words that the KJV translators deemed appropriate.
Rather than Strong coming up with a dictionary of his own on the Greek language and how the Greek words were used by the KJV translators, he was forced to define the words as the translators used them in the KJV! That explains why he had to make up definitions. He didn't makeup words, the KJV translators made up words! And then Strong had to make up definitions to fit the KJV! And, I have to cut those translators some slack as their knowledge of the ancient Hebrew and Greek available to them was very limited to what is now known.

In the next post, I will start addressing the subject of baptism, but I had to first lay down the background and groundwork of what I am about to show. So, hang in there.

India is a diverse and democratic country – but in 2023, in some states, it’s a scary place to be a Christian. Violent persecution remains at an extreme level, and Christians still face very high pressure in all spheres of life.
Since the current government came to power in May 2014 pressure on Christians has risen dramatically. This has also seen rise in Hindutva, an ideology that believes only Hindus are true Indians, and that Christians and other religious minorities have ‘foreign’ roots and must be expelled. Hindu extremists attack others with impunity, using extreme violence in some areas.
Increasing numbers of states are also implementing anti-conversion laws, supposedly to stop Hindus being forcibly converted to other religions, but in reality, they are often used as an excuse to harass and intimidate Christians.
Believers from a Hindu background and church leaders and their families are most at risk, many facing constant pressure, physical assaults and are sometimes even killed. Being a pastor is one of the riskiest vocations in the country today. Hindu extremists target them with violent attacks to sow fear in the wider Christian community.

Sands of the Sea

Hosea 1:10-11 The Israelites will be as countless as the sands of the sea. The time will come when it will no longer be said of them; ‘You are not My people’, and they will be called ‘Children of the Living God’. The people of Judah and Israel will be reunited and will choose for themselves one leader, they will prosper in the Land, for great will be the Day of Jezreel. Romans 9:24-27
Choose their leader; before the Return of Jesus. Jezreel means punishment, this refers to the Lord’s Day of vengeance and wrath, that will clear the Land for this reunion and for the Lord’s favour to His people. Isaiah 10:22, Ezekiel 35:15-27, Jeremiah 30:21

Hosea 3:4-5 The Israelites will be for a long time without a King or leader and without the Temple sacrifices, or the sacred observances. After that, they will again seek the Lord and their Davidic King. All Israel will turn with reverence to their God and seek His favour for the days to come. Isaiah 55:6-7, Psalm 105:1-5

Hosea 12:6-9 Turn back by God’s help, maintain loyalty and justice and wait continually for your God. Ephraim says; surely I have become rich, I am strong and prosperous, sin will not be found in me. The Lord says; From your days in Egypt, I am still your God, you will live in tents yet again, as you did in the Exodus.

Ephraim, the leader of the ten Northern tribes: the House of Israel, among the Western nations, is strong and prosperous. They believe their kind of worship will save them. Isaiah 2:6-8, Isaiah 58:1-5

Hosea 2:13 I shall punish her [Israel] for her sins against Me, when forgetful of Me, she ran off to worship other gods. Ezekiel 4:4-6, Leviticus 26:18
Punishment by exile for a decreed time, now nearly completed. Ezekiel 4:4-6

Hosea 2:14-15 But now, I shall woo her and lead My people into a deserted place, I will encourage them and restore their Land. Then the Israelites will respond as did their ancestors when they came out of Egypt. Ezekiel 20:34-36, Deut. 30:5

Hosea 11:8-11 How can I reject you, Israel and make you like those nations that have died out? A change of heart moves Me; I am the Lord, not a mortal, I will not destroy My people. They will follow their Lord when He calls, they will come from all parts of the earth and I will settle them in houses in their own Land. This is the Word of the Lord. Isaiah 62:1-5, Jeremiah 30:1-40, Zechariah 8:2-8

Hosea 2:16-23 On that Day My people will call Me their ‘Husband’, for I shall betroth Myself to them forever, bestowing righteousness, justice, loyalty and love. I will remove all dangers from them, they will live without fear in a plentiful Land. The people once called Not loved’, andNot My people’, will inhabit their inheritance. I will say to them ‘You are My people’ and they will say; ‘You are our God’. Romans 9:24-26 This refers to every faithful Christian, from every race, nation and language.

Hosea 14:4-8 I shall heal My peoples apostasy, I shall love them freely for my anger is turned away from them. I shall be as dew to Israel, they will dwell in My shadow, so that they may flourish and prosper. I declare and affirm that I, the Lord am the strong tree that shelters My people, they will be famous for their prosperity.

Hosea 14:9 Let the wise consider these things and let the prudent acknowledge them. The Lord’s Laws are right and His people obey them, but sinners fall. Isaiah 1:27-28

An experiment with Bing chatbot.

With all the chatbot posts in this forum, I decided to test Bing with science and maths questions of various difficulty.

(1) Explain how the Schwarzschild metric when expressed in Droste-Hilbert coordinates results in the speed of light being anisotropic.
Calculate the difference Δv between the radial and peripheral velocity of light at the Earth’s surface.
I’m sorry, but I couldn’t find any information on how the Schwarzschild metric when expressed in Droste-Hilbert coordinates results in the speed of light being anisotropic or the difference between the radial and peripheral velocity of light at the Earth’s surface. Would you like me to search for something else?
Oh well this was too tough for the chatbot.
This is a honours level question in applied mathematics.

Here is the answer.
The Schwarzschild metric in Droste-Hilbert coordinates is;

ds² = c²(1-2MG/ c²r)dt² - dr²/ (1-2MG/c²r) -r²(dθ²+sin²θdϕ²)

One needs to look at the radial and peripheral velocity of light.
Since light travels along null geodesics ds² =0.
For the radial velocity dr/dt, dθ = dϕ = 0 and the metric reduces to;

dr/dt = c(1-2MG/c²r)

For the peripheral velocity rdθ/dt, dr = dϕ = 0 and the metric reduces to;

rdθ/dt = c(1-2MG/c²r)⁰·⁵ ≈ c(1-(1/2)2MG/c²r) as 2MG/c²r is very small for Earth.

The difference between the radial and peripheral velocity is;
Δv = c(2MG/c²)(1/2) = 21 cm/sec.

I tried a much simpler question.
(2) What is the Schwarzschild metric?
The Schwarzschild metric is a solution to the Einstein field equations of general relativity that describes the gravitational field outside a spherical, non-rotating mass such as a star or planet. It is named after Karl Schwarzschild, who found the solution in 1916. Is there anything else you would like to know about this topic?
No surprises here Bing like any search engine would have found the answer.
It would have done even better if it showed the mathematical form of the metric.

I needed a question of intermediate complexity.
(3) I am driving at a uniform speed of 60 km/hr in one direction and at 80 km/hr per during the return journey, what is my average speed over the entire trip?

To calculate the average speed over the entire trip, we need to know the distance traveled in each direction. Let’s say the distance traveled in each direction is d km.
The time taken to travel from the starting point to the destination at a speed of 60 km/hr would be d/60 hours. The time taken to travel back to the starting point at a speed of 80 km/hr would be d/80 hours. The total distance traveled is 2d km and the total time taken is (d/60) + (d/80) hours.
The average speed over the entire trip is calculated as the total distance traveled divided by the total time taken: (2d) / ((d/60) + (d/80)) = 240/7 ≈ 34.29 km/hr.
So, your average speed over the entire trip is approximately 34.29 km/hr.

This was a "trick" question.
Impulsively one would say the answer is simply the average of the forward and return speeds and equals 70 km/hr.
Bing got the maths right but the calculation wrong!!
The correct answer is.
(2d) / ((d/60) + (d/80)) = 480/7 ≈ 68.6 km/hr.
In the calculations Bing used d instead of 2d for the total distance.

I would give Bing 5/10.

You can also sign up using the form above to receive our Email Prayer Alert which we send out whenever we become aware of a specific and immediate situation which requires urgent prayer.

Children’s Prayer Sheet
It’s not only adults who can pray for our persecuted family. Every month we produce a prayer sheet aimed specifically for children. Each sheet has specific activities and prayers which will help children learn more about how persecution affects children in other countries. You can visit our Children’s Prayer Sheet page here.

Amazing praise (in Mizo) at wedding reception

Hi Everybody! This is the second time I found a wedding video with amazing worship from the small state of Mizoram in India. There's a lot of the standard wedding speeches and stuff, but if you go to 1:28:10, the worship starts cranking up. (The video should start there automatically.)

Then it notches up even more at 1:33:50. I only know a few words of Mizo, but I can tell they are praising God big time :amen:

Did God die upon the Cross?

I don't mean to be controversial, but this is a question that is perplexing me at the moment ever since I was reading a book that suggested God did die on the Cross. So Rather than just poll peoples personal opinions are there any scriptures that can shed some light on this question. I have put the question through Google, and I see some do answer it in the affirmative at least in regard to the Son dying. This is probably, whatever the answer, a profound mystery.

I am inclined to think God didn't die, however without denying Jesus is God incarnate, I think Jesus suffered and died (or experienced death) in his human nature?

Can anyone help me out on this?

U.S. Capitol rioter the 'QAnon Shaman' is released early from federal prison

Jacob Chansley, who received one of the longest sentences handed down to a U.S. Capitol rioter, has been released early from federal prison and sent to a reentry center.

Chansley, 35, was convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding in Nov. 2021 and sentenced to 41 months in prison. But prison records show that Chansley has been moved to a residential reentry management facility in Phoenix, where he is originally from, and is expected to be released on May 25.

Self-styled 'QAnon shaman' is sentenced to 41 months in Capitol riot

Chansley received an early release, in part, because of his good behavior while in prison, says Albert Watkins, who represented Chansley through his plea and sentencing.

"Mr. Chansley can now move forward with his life. For that I applaud the BOP," Watkins told NPR in a statement.

I wonder if his early release is due, in part, to cooler heads prevailing and realizing that he was just a troubled young man and wasn't encouraging any violence. There was a while where people wanted to treat "supporters of Trump" with the same vitriol as they would Trump, himself. Hopefully this dude realizes the error of his ways and proceeds with a little more discretion in the future. It would seem he got the harshest sentence due to him wearing the most outlandish outfit and being the most recognizable, and not because he actually did anything that was any worse than any of the other people participating in the riot.

I always thought that his harsh punishment (in comparison to people like Raz Simone who orchestrated the takeover of several blocks of a major US city, and seemingly faced no consequences) was a bit disproportionate. Hopefully lessons have been learned.

There's too much money on my paycheck--and i don't feel much of a moral obligation to point it out. Is something wrong with me?

I received a retention bonus, about 6k paid out over a year (so ~$200/paycheck). This bonus was contingent on my staying in the department for a year. I was free to leave, but I'd lose the bonus (what was left to my understanding).

I left the department with a few months left of the bonus. I expected that extra $200 to not be there this paycheck.

But it was.

And I don't feel too much of a moral obligation to report it? Which kind of scares me. When I was younger, if ny paycheck was too much I'd head to the boss and ask. But... now I'm sort of thinking, it's not my fault, why should i report it?

I'm going to ask about it on Monday, but it's kind of worrying that I'm not feeling much conviction to report it...

I'm usually the type that believes it's better to not have love at all. I see it as "what was the point if this was the result?"

Leaked Documents offer rare look into Russian intelligence/defense cyberwar ambitions for cyberattacks, disinformation and surveillance

The [5,000] documents detail a suite of computer programs and databases that would allow Russia’s intelligence agencies and hacking groups to better find vulnerabilities, coordinate attacks and control online activity. The documents suggest the firm was supporting operations including both social media disinformation and training to remotely disrupt real-world targets, such as sea, air and rail control systems.

An anonymous person provided the documents from the contractor, NTC Vulkan, to a German reporter after expressing outrage about Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

The trove offers a rare window into the secret corporate dealings of Russia’s military and spy agencies, including work for the notorious government hacking group Sandworm [see also]. U.S. officials have accused Sandworm of twice causing power blackouts in Ukraine, disrupting the Opening Ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics and launching NotPetya, the most economically destructive malware in history.

The cache of more than 5,000 pages of documents, dated between 2016 and 2021, includes manuals, technical specification sheets and other details for software that Vulkan designed for the Russian military and intelligence establishment. It also includes internal company emails, financial records and contracts that show both the ambition of Russia’s cyber operations and the breadth of the work Moscow has been outsourcing.

This includes programs to create fake social media pages and software that can identify and stockpile lists of vulnerabilities in computer systems across the globe for possible future targeting.

Among the thousands of pages of leaked Vulkan documents are projects designed to automate and enable operations across Russian hacking units.

Amezit, for example, details tactics for automating the creation of massive numbers of fake social media accounts for disinformation campaigns. One document in the leaked cache describes how to use banks of mobile phone SIM cards to defeat verification checks for new accounts on Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.

The reporters also found evidence of the software being used to create fake social media accounts, inside and outside of Russia, to push narratives in line with official state propaganda, including denials that Russian attacks in Syria killed civilians.

I think I've figured out the solution for school shootings.

All we have to do is provide every American schoolchild the same kind of protection that the president and members of Congress enjoy:

I mean, yeah, it'll be expensive, but look at all the jobs you'll create.

Besides, which is more important, our children, the future of America, or 500-odd old duffers in D.C. and a dithering, senile octogenarian in the White House?

Easter Devotions, Morning and Evening Devotions, Spurgeon

"Morning and Evening" is unique in devotional works. Others are edited selections from famous Christian's works. But this was written with a pastor's heart for the hearer, written for each day of the year.
The March 21st entry begins reflections on Christ's passion, and on through tomorrow, April 1. We would all do well to read them anew as we begin Holy Week. C. H. Spurgeon: Morning and Evening: Daily Readings - Christian Classics Ethereal Library
