  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Japanese evangelistic page ~ need some help

Hey brothers and sisters,

So, I'm working on fully translating a gospel presentation from English to Japanese. From what I understand, there are not many gospel presentations that are culturally adapted to efficiently preach the gospel to people in Japan, but this one could. It's translated wording-wise, but I still need someone to look over it; someone who speaks/reads Japanese well. Someone who could correct any errors and recommend necessary changes.

Also, my friends, Japan is currently about 0.2% Christian and so this project could really make a difference over there. ANY help is appreciated.

God bless,
Ash

Just Truth

In Romans 3:10 and 3:23 we learn there are none that are righteous, not you and not even the man teaching/preaching from the pulpit. That includes people that go to the building they mistakenly call The Church.
Colossians 3:23-24 NASB1995
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Prayer Target- Climate Change

Hi everyone- I had an idea for a prayer target. We need to pray against global climate change! If mankind does not get a handle on this in the next few years there could be serious consequences! They are working on it right now, they are also rolling out electric cars in a big way and if we can get everyone in the whole country driving one of these it will help quite a bit! I have been praying, telling God that mankind needs His help, and praying that God will come and save us from this and also for wisdom for our leadership and scientists to know how to handle this!

Lord God the body of Christ agrees right now that mankind needs Your help! We pray for Your intervention in this situation with climate change and for elimination of the problem! Show us what to do to deal with global warming, climate change, and air pollution and give our leadership and scientists wisdom! We pray that the natural world system of the earth would function normally and that there would be no problems! We agree for complete elimination of global warming, global climate change, and the destruction of the natural environment! Hear from heaven and save us from this Lord!

pharmakeia and pharmacy

Galatians 5:
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions
sorcery;
φαρμακεία (pharmakeia)
Noun - Nominative Feminine Singular
Strong's 5331: Magic, sorcery, enchantment. From pharmakeus; medication, i.e. magic.

G5331 was ambiguous. It could be good drug or bad drug, Strong's Concordance:
pharmakeia: the use of medicine, drugs or spells

HELPS Word-studies:
5331 pharmakeía (from pharmakeuō, "administer drugs") – properly, drug-related sorcery, like the practice of magical-arts, etc. (A. T. Robertson).
Today the English word "drug" is also ambiguous.

What about the word "pharmacy"? Where does the word come from?

Etymology:
Pharmacy (n.)
late 14c., farmacie, "a medicine that rids the body of an excess of humors (except blood);" also "treatment with medicine; theory of treatment with medicine," from Old French farmacie "a purgative" (13c.) and directly from Medieval Latin pharmacia, from Greek pharmakeia "a healing or harmful medicine, a healing or poisonous herb; a drug, poisonous potion; magic (potion), dye, raw material for physical or chemical processing."
The word "pharmacy" came from the ambiguous Greek word.

Does this mean that pharmacy is bad?

Thinking so would commit an etymological fallacy as when an argument makes a claim about the present meaning of a word based exclusively on that word's etymology.

Despite its etymology, today pharmacy means:
the science or practice of the preparation and dispensing of medicinal drugs.

Workers fired after complaining about company prayer sessions awarded $50K

https://wapo.st/3qrgmb6

Every day, employees at Aurora Pro Services, a North Carolina home-repair company, would gather for a mandatory prayer meeting, according to a federal complaint. They stood in a circle while leaders, including the company owner, allegedly read Bible scriptures and prayed. In the circle, the owner required Aurora’s employees to recite the Lord’s Prayer in unison and requested prayers for poorly performing employees, the complaint alleged.

The meetings became “cult-like,” Mackenzie Saunders, a former Aurora employee, alleged in the complaint, filed in June 2022 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Saunders, who is agnostic, attended the meetings after she was hired in November 2020 but stopped going in January 2021.
John McGaha, another former employee, said the prayer meetings were about 10 minutes long when he started in the summer of 2020 and stretched to 45 minutes a few months later. When McGaha, an atheist, asked to be excluded from portions of the meetings, he was rebuked by Aurora’s owner, who said it would be in his “best interest” to attend, the complaint states. Days later, the company allegedly halved McGaha’s pay. When McGaha asked to skip the meetings a second time, he was allegedly told that he did not have to believe in God but that he had to participate in the prayer meetings.

Aurora’s owner, who is not named in the complaint, twice denied McGaha’s requests to be excused from portions of the meetings that involved prayer, according to the complaint. “If you do not participate, that is okay, you don’t have to work here,” Aurora’s owner allegedly told McGaha in front of other employees. “You are getting paid to be here.”

Aurora fired McGaha and Saunders in 2020 and 2021, respectively, after they objected to the prayer meetings — a move that will cost the company $50,000, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced last week. The company has agreed to pay McGaha $37,500 and Saunders $12,500 to settle the religious discrimination and retaliation lawsuit, which the agency said violated the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Did Jesus claim to be God?

The Bible does not record where Jesus said: "I am God". However, he said in (NIV) John 10:
30 "I and the Father are one.”
Jesus claimed to be one with the Father.
31 Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, 32but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?”
33 “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”
Jesus' opponents thought that Jesus claimed to be God.
34 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’?
Jesus didn't deny the claim.
35 If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be set aside— 36what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?
More precisely, Jesus insisted that he was the Son of God.

Elsewhere in John 14:
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

ESV John 8:58
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”

There is strong evidence that Jesus implied that he was God but he had always preferred to label himself as the Son of Man and the Son of God.

Can someone briefly explain what's going on in Orthodoxy?

The reason why I am asking is that I have dear friends in Central Asia who are Orthodox, in loyalty to the Moscow patriachate. Things were always respectful but non-compromising with me, a protestant in our admittedly shallow discussions. I did hear that they don't believe all orthodox patriachates are 'sound'.
But then the Ukraine war came along, and they accept the Ukraine is their brotherly Orthodox country, seduced by the West. They may be perplexed by the disastrous violence of the SMO, and have given up watching the internet.
I did say to them, that maybe the schisms in the Orthodox World that have ensued before and after the SMO should be pause for thought, but that was received without reply.
Relationships are distant now, especially with the internet not being used.
How can I understand their own pressures within Orthodoxy?

Biden's New Student Loan Forgiveness Plan Blocked by Court

The judges in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals—all of whom were appointed by Republican presidents—blocked the new rule with a temporary injunction, pending appeal, after a request by Career Colleges and Schools of Texas (CCST), a state-led organization of 70 assorted private, post-secondary institutions that prepare students for careers in the trades.

The rules, finalized by the department in June, would have allowed borrowers to file a claim for relief if they believed a school misled them about their education or engaged in certain misconduct that was in violation of the law—allowing the department to discharge any debt the student took out to attend the school.

While I think schools should be held more accountable for misleading students about how valuable their product offerings actually are, I'm not a fan of federal force (or federal money) for loan forgiveness as the correction mechanism. I'm still a fan of the bipartisan proposal for making the schools themselves be the co-signers on student loans moving forward.

With weak standards for claims like "if they believed a school misled them about their education", it's not terribly surprising that it got shot down. Under those pretenses, virtually anyone who slacked/partied during college, and didn't end up getting gainful employment, could simply fallback on such a claim to get their "mistake" forgiven... essentially making it the equivalent of gambling without the risk of losing money.

"The casino said I had a chance to win big, I spent $300 in that slot machine and didn't win a penny, I've been misled, so I'll be taking that $300 back if you'd be so kind..."

Not to mention, this is a particular sticky wicket because what happens in the scenario where a person files such a claim for loan forgiveness, gets it approved, but then gets a job 3 months later in the field thanks to the education they received, is there any process for "student loan reinstatement" in such a circumstance?

If a student takes out the loan, gets it forgiven under the pretense of "the school misled me, this degree is useless", does the school get to nullify the degree so they can't use for future job prerequisites? Or are they still getting to keep the "product" they originally signed up to pay for?

This Is Why We Can't Find Police to Hire

Here's an example of San Francisco PD doing exactly what they should do. While placing a man under arrest...a man who was nearby demands the police release the man, shows them he's armed in a threatening manner, and despite multiple warnings and commands from the police, he pulls his gun and points it at the police before they fire on him and kill him.

A sad and tragic incident to be sure...but luckily the police did everything right and were 100% justified in shooting.

Here's the reaction from the community and family of the deceased criminal (Yes, criminal...because impeding an arrest is a crime, pointing a gun at police is a crime, I see no need to posthumously convict the man but his crimes are rather clear and on camera).

"Relatives and neighbors of Ryant Bluford said they wished officers used de-escalation tactics before opening fire and killing him last month. They gathered to remember Bluford Friday night at the intersection of Catalina and Fairfax, the location of the deadly shooting."

"We do not condone violence.," said Bluford's cousin Charlesettta Earl. "We are a peaceful family. Unfortunately, the circumstances did happen. But as you know, police make mistakes as well and so do human beings."
Those who gathered Friday night said they have not seen the police body cam footage. They said Bluford had been struggling with the loss of his mother to cancer late last year, and they wished police used tactics other than deadly force.
"I really want to learn what de-escalation strategies they employ," said Bluford's cousin L'oreal Ealr, "Out of all of those police officers, I wish one of them would have taken the time to say hey, let's talk."

I can certainly understand why the family wishes things turned out differently. They lost a loved one after all. The problem here is twofold though...

1. "Out of all of those police officers, I wish one of them would have taken the time to say hey, let's talk."

This is the wrong default take. It's starting from the position that the police did something wrong. The police aren't going to wait while you decided whether or not to shoot them. There's lots of possible ways this could have turned out better, for example....
-not trying to prevent the police from doing their job
-not flashing your gun threateningly at police
-not pulling your gun on police and aiming at them
-obeying their orders.

Problem #2...
"But as you know, police make mistakes as well and so do human beings."

The implied even perhaps unintended view expressed here is that police aren't human beings, and they may have made a mistake.

These ideas are more prevalent now, both explicitly and implicitly and there's very little pushback against either. Why would anyone want to work a dangerous and difficult job where people view you as subhuman, always at fault, scrutinize your job even when done perfectly, and you aren't worthy of self defense even if a gun is pointing at you? Nobody smart, and very few people who are good. The damage done to police can't even be undone with money at this point. Perhaps microphones shouldn't be shoved in the faces of grieving people by reporters....or if they are, these opinions are edited out or, lastly highly derided for how bad they are. Without supporting police who do their job correctly.....no one will want to do the job.

Jesus spoke to me in a dream

renderTimingPixel.png

Hello new here :)I wrote this piece after studying the Bible from my experience hope it helps someone:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is your life hard? Then listen to this good news
For most of us we are children stumbling in the dark. We sin a lot, which means we did not listen to God’s word; a lot of the time without even realising it. The greater the sin the more we realise what we are doing is wrong.

John 19:11
Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
Prov. 3 Verses 5 to 6
[5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
The price for sin is death, Jesus died for all our sins so that we may enter heaven with Him so that this debt is already fulfilled, we just need to believe in Him and be truly repentant for our sins.
To believe in Him not only means that He exists but to believe in His ability, love and understand that all good things come from Him.
If we believe in Him and His ways, we are strengthened by Him, His word is powerful and protective. If we do not believe in Him, we are weak which is why we sin.
The less we sin the closer we get to His perfection the more Christ like we become and things becomes clearer about the truth, we can't not sin all the time, only Jesus can do that, but we should try to sin as little as possible. its hard but the more we do it the easier it becomes and it shows us how strong we can be with Him!
Luke 17:1
Jesus said to his disciples, "Things that make people fall into sin are bound to happen, but how terrible for the one who makes them happen!
God is one God in three, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus has always been part of God and He is eternal and never changes, He is not lonely:
John 17:24
“Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.”
God is always good all the time, God is love, His greatest commandment is love. All good things come from Him, He is perfect, ...in all good ways; He is perfection, HIS pure perfection, not man’s view of perfection which, a lot of the time, is infected with sin. God is strong, patient, and unchanging. God is all powerful. We cannot comprehend how God works and never will. His judgement is perfect, He knows all, sees all…after all He created us all. He always speaks truth ALL the time:
Psalms 18:3030 As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.
1 John 1:5
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all...
God is kind, caring, compassionate, forgiving, merciful, fair, and gives out justice to those that continually turn away from Him by sinning in their life and not repenting for those sins. Gods’ justice will come, maybe not on earth, but when we die, those that are unrepentant for their sins will end up in hell.
Matthew 25:41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.'"
To repent means to not only say sorry but to understand we have disobeyed Gods flawless word.
God is eternal and never changes…He is all powerful and no one can compare to Him, He loves us all and wants as many of us to be believe in Him as possible. His love is like no other and He wants a relationship with all of us…
James 1:17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Revalation 3:12Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.

After studying the Bible, and what Jesus has gifted me… To give us the gift of choice meant we had the capacity to disobey, we cannot be like Him, there can only be one God because He created all things:
Deuteronomy 30:19
19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings, and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
1 Corinthians 8:4-6
4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.
When we are weak, we are strong, when we have nothing and life has taken everything from us...Jesus is at his closest to us. When we see no hope of a better future, Jesus protects us...he is always there, he will not let us take a burden alone. He loves us so much...he is our shepherd and we are his sheep.
God is perfect, fair, and just. He has great mercy and He does not want us to sin. We are not equal to God; we cannot and never will be. We cannot understand the workings of God and never will.
Acts 17:24The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
1 John 15
3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.5“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

To be free thinking and independent from Himself God had to give us the gift of choice. We would all be mindless slaves to Him without the ability to choose and think for ourselves; if we were not independent from Him. Sin exists because we disobeyed His perfect word, this was inevitable because we are not God. So, we disobeyed Him when Adam and Eve ate the apple. This caused our broken world…
I and a lot of Christians believe in Him so much and love Him so much and are willing to follow His word despite any doubts we might have. Some suffer a lot over the course of their lives I feel these trails shape us to be more like Jesus. Those that know the truth try as best they can not to disobey Him. Jesus answered my question “why are we on earth?” in a dream; some believe He speaks to those that love Him very much despite never seeing Him. I recently put into motion Jesus into my life; I put plans in place to stop myself sinning as much as I possibly can for Him. I commit to them, by following His Perfect word in the Bible. I was gifted with a dream...I love Him so much and thank Him for showing me this vision on 5th August 2023 it happened during the end stage of sleep, possibly “REM” sleep, I believe this is so that I could remember what He said to me, nothing is a coincidence we all have a part to play in the world, in the dream I saw his face and heard His voice:
My question was along the lines of “why are we on earth, why did you create us?”
Jesus said to me in my dream:"Why on earth, why? Because you believe in Me!"
I felt he meant not only myself but all who believe in Him which is why I’m sharing this with you.
We all have a different path in life, I choose to follow Jesus and his flawless word written in the Bible. It was not mere coincidence that the Bible stood the test of time. He cannot control our actions and those that persecute us in life, because he gave us the gift of choice which we all use to disobey Him. I understand it is not easy starting out as a new Christian these days but perseverance is key, God is very patient.
In short, we have all disobeyed his word in our life. I know that some people suffer so much in life at the hands of others and life events but God has mercy. Life is grossly unfair sometimes... Some suffer more than others. Praise Jesus in the good times, and thank Him for them.
Let Jesus strengthen us; no harm can come to our soul with Jesus at our side, our bodies will wither away and die but our soul will live forever with Jesus, we do not have to be afraid of anything. Suffering is temporary; I know that is little comfort when we are suffering in our lives, but we don’t have to be scared once Jesus is there for us, it may not seem like it, but the reward at the end is worth it, we have no idea the joy of how much love and belonging we will have awaiting us if we believe in Him. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God Hallelujah!
Listen to His words and uphold them and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, I just know when God is trying to tell me something because of the Holy Spirit...all good things come from Him, He does not try and confuse us. Jesus will guide you if you pray and talk to Him, ask Him questions...he will make it known to you in a way that you understand, maybe not instantly and not as you expect, but He is with you always if you let Him into your heart...we are all strong in Christs love...Jesus is amazing!
1 Corinthians 12
12 Brothers and sisters, I want you to know about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. 2 You know that at one time you were unbelievers. You were somehow drawn away to worship statues of gods that could not even speak. 3 So I want you to know that no one who is speaking with the help of God’s Spirit says, “May Jesus be cursed.” And without the help of the Holy Spirit no one can say, “Jesus is Lord.”
4 There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. 5 There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. 6 There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people.
7 The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. 8 To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. 9 To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. 10 To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. 11 All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.
I hope I have done a good job of explaining all this, the sin in me distorts what I am saying sometimes as it does all of us…basically God created a system for us here that CANNOT be broken, all to get us to come back to His loving embrace, because He is perfect and we are not. Praise the Lord! Jesus has guided me in writing this…
Do not ever give up on Jesus because he did not give up on us when he died on the cross for our sins, this shows us how much He loves us...

Sound of Freedom

My wife and I went and saw Sound of Freedom tonight. Best, and most powerful, movie I have ever seen. It will change your life as you will not be the same after you watch it. It was dead quiet in that theater. Nobody said a word for the 2 and a half hours or so it took to watch it. My wife said she heard people crying during it. I didn't as I'm about half deaf. I have to say our media are a bunch of pedophiles as they trash this movie attempting to stop people from going to see it.

Go see it if you get a chance. This is a project worth supporting.

Wisdom is Justified

Luke 7:24-27 ESV

“When John's messengers had gone, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: ‘What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and live in luxury are in kings' courts. What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written,
“‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’”

Jesus Christ was speaking here concerning John the Baptist. So, who was John the Baptist? He was Jesus’ cousin. And he was born not long before Jesus was. And he was called of God, even before he was born, to be a voice which cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God” (Isaiah 40:3). And John said about himself that he was “the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’ as the prophet Isaiah said” (John 1:23).

And the apostle John said this about him: “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light” (John 1:6-8).

So, John the Baptist was a man of God whose whole existence in life was to obey the Lord and to be that lone voice in the wilderness making a straight (upright, godly, righteous, morally pure, honest, and law abiding and obedient) path (way) of the Lord, to prepare the people’s hearts to meet Jesus Christ and to make him Lord and Savior of their lives. And his primary message to the people was to repent (to turn from their sins) so that they could now walk in the ways of the Lord and no longer in their sinful ways.

Now John the Baptist was not flashy like many of our modern day men who call themselves “pastors” and “preachers of the gospel.” He was not finely dressed, but he wore clothes made of Camel’s hair with a leather belt around his waist. And his diet consisted of locusts and wild honey. And he lived a very simple life while he focused his life on the kingdom work set before him. So he did not live in a nice house in a gated community among the wealthy and powerful of the world, but he lived a very humble life.

And his message was not flashy, not manipulative, not cunning and crafty like many men are today in their deceitful scheming. His goal was not to “draw in large crowds of people from the world” through worldly means and methods so as to add them to his earthly kingdom. And he didn’t have to put on a show, a performance, to entertain the people in order to draw them to Christ, nor did he use marketing schemes, trickery, and gimmickry in order to draw in large crowds of people from the world to his gatherings.

But his message was simply “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near” and “bear fruit in keeping with repentance” (Matthew 3:2-10). And his mission was to prepare the people’s hearts to receive Jesus Christ into their lives as truly Lord (Owner-Master) and Savior (saved out of their lives of slavery to sin into lives surrendered to Jesus Christ, empowered of God to live holy and godly lives for the glory of God). So, they were to leave their lives of sin behind them to now follow Jesus Christ in obedience to his ways.

Luke 7:31-35 ESV

“To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another,
“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’
“For John the Baptist has come eating no bread and drinking no wine, and you say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by all her children.”

But what was the people’s general response to John the Baptist and to his message? And what was their response largely to Jesus Christ and to his message? Some did believe, and some did have genuine heart and life changes of the Spirit of God. But it appears the majority not only rejected John’s message and Jesus’ message, but they mocked and criticized both of them. And they spread lies about them, too, because John and Jesus were not like most of them. Their lives were dedicated to God’s service.

And so it is today, too. For if you live a life which is separate (unlike, different) from the world, as all believers in Jesus ought to do, and if your life is dedicated to the Lord and to his ministry, and you take God and his word seriously, and you believe God, and so you do what he says, in practice, and so you are also sharing the truth of the gospel with the people close and far away, then you are regarded as weird, as an odd ball, as a crazy person, or as self-righteous, judgmental, and legalistic.

But you have to let all that roll off of you, for you have to consider your greater task is to live your life for the Lord Jesus, and not for the acceptance and approval of human beings. Your greater task must be to get the true message of the gospel out to the people so that many will be saved, in truth, and that they will now live for the Lord and walk in his ways, and so they will also have salvation from sin and the hope of eternal life with God. But please don’t buy into that cheapened and altered gospel message of today.

For Jesus Christ said that if anyone would come after him, he must deny self, take up his cross daily (die daily to sin and to self) and follow (obey) him. For if we hold on to our old lives of living in sin and for self, we will lose them for eternity. But if for the sake of Jesus we die with him to sin and we now live to him and to his righteousness, then we have the hope of eternal life with God. For if we are ashamed of Jesus and his full gospel message in this life, he will be ashamed of us when he returns, and he will deny us.

Seek the Lord

An Original Work / July 20, 2012
Based off Isaiah 55

“Come to Me all you who thirst; come to waters.
Listen to Me, and eat what’s good today,
And your soul will delight in richest of fare.
Give ear to Me, and you will live.
I have made an eternal covenant with you.
Wash in the blood of the Lamb.”

Seek the Lord while He may be found; call on Him.
Let the wicked forsake his way, in truth.
Let him turn to the Lord, and he will receive mercy.
Freely, God pardons him.
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,”
declares the Lord, our God.

“My word that goes out of My mouth is truthful.
It will not return to Me unfulfilled.
My word will accomplish all that I desire,
And achieve the goal I intend.
You will go in joy and be led forth in peace.
The mountains will burst into song… before you,
And all of the trees clap their hands.”

Judges halt Biden rule offering student debt relief for those alleging colleges misled them

Career Colleges and Schools of Texas, an association of for-profit higher learning institutions, filed a lawsuit against the rule in February. Among its complaints was that the rules are so broad that they cover even unintentional actions by a college. They also said the rule unconstitutionally gives an executive branch agency, the Department of Education, what amounts to the power of a court in deciding whether to grant claims for debt relief.

I play guitar and was looking for a site with Christian guitar tabs, and somewhere along the search this forum popped up. I’m looking forward to engaging with those of like precious faith.

Need Advice for 2 of My Friends

Greetings in the name of Jesus. I have 2 friends that I try to help, with the Lord of course. But I need advice on what to do or say and need a lot of prayer for them.

My first friend's name is Richard. He is in his 60's and lives by himself in an apartment building. He never married and he doesn't have children. He has cerebral palsy, which is that his legs muscles are weak. He could hardly walk by himself without the support of his crutches. He had a hard life growing up due to his disability. Anytime when someone says anything negative, he takes it as a rejection. In the past, he has been self-harming (not cutting himself, but doing things that are not good for him). He has been going with me to Church for around 10+ years. But when we talked last night, he really shocked me. I know that he has a lot of resentment towards people, and from it a lot of bitterness. We then went to a Tent Revival Meetings, last night. The preacher's main message was not to take offenses but to offer them up to Jesus. He told me that he needed to get rid of a lot of resentments, but there is something he cannot do. He said that he had an opportunity to tell the Gospel to his neighbor, but he didn't. Later on, his neighbor died. He said how could God forgive him to allow his neighbor to go to Hell. I told him that God knows and God can forgive him. But he told me that it would not change the past, nor he is certain if he wants God's forgiveness.

My 2nd friend's name is Darius. He is in his mid to upper 20's. He has been struggling with sin quite a bit in his Christian life, but he recently become free from a lot of it. But we talked for a while, last night and he says that he has been dealing with a lot of confusion. Throughout most of his Christian life, he has been facing with something called "Perfectionism." He doesn't want to wrong anyone (which is very commendable), but I think it is going way too far. If someone offered him gum, and he takes it, he feels guilty of taking it (even when it is offered to him). He goes back to apologize to the person, otherwise, he would feel guilty until he does. He says that it happens to him many times a day that he wants to make clear of any hinderances. Like I said, it is commendable if he wrongs someone that he wants to apologize for it, but it has been pretty much a bondage that is literally driving him crazy. I told him that when God convicts, He wants us to move to action to want to right a wrongdoing but having almost like a bondage constantly day in and day out, even though there is no wrongdoing, I am pretty certain that it is not from the Lord. He even told me about all of this, last night, and called me about 10 minutes later to apologize for telling me his struggles. He says that he feels that God doesn't want anyone, except 1 or 2 individuals, to know about what he is going through.

So for my prayer requests:

  1. Pray for Richard that he can finally release the resentment that he had for many years, to release it to the Lord and to seek God's forgiveness for any of the wrongs he has done. Also, pray for healing as well. He said that he wanted to release many people in his heart, but the damage that is still there. He said that he might never be healed from it.
  2. Pray for Darius that God will deliver him from his confusion and from his perfectionism. It seems like his perfectionism is getting worse and it is taking a toll on his spiritual life.
Also, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

The Paraclete is our deposit guarantee

NIV Ephesians 1:
13And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
i.e., the Paraclete who dwells in our spirit
14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
deposit/guarantee
ἀρραβὼν (arrabōn)
Noun - Nominative Masculine Singular
Strong's 728: Of Hebrew origin; a pledge, i.e. Part of the purchase-money or property given in advance as security for the rest.

The Paraclete is God's advanced security deposit in us.

Strong's Greek: 728. ἀῤῥαβών (arrabón) — 3 Occurrences

2 Corinthians 1:
22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts
i.e., the Paraclete
as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

2 Corinthians 5:
5 Now the one who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
For the 3rd time, G728 refers to the Paraclete. G728 appears exactly 3 times and every time, Paul was talking about the Paraclete.
