  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Seeking truth to combat others' perceptions

So, I'm divorced. He was heavily abusive and eventually I found out he cheated. Let's move on.

I've made my way through the grieving process and throughout that process I prayed multiple times every single day to find clarity and relive myself of these emotions regarding my ex. Every time, I would get these signs from Him that lead me not toward another man (good, honestly, I'm totally done with all that mess) but toward bigger and more complex outreach scenarios. I've prayed up on these things as well, and as far as I have made sense of things, it seems that my true calling is to create a super-specialized and hyper-niche non-profit the likes of which currently doesn't exist anywhere that I can find online.

I get the sense that I'm to do this sooner rather than later, as it has been set upon my heart as "urgent". The problems that stand in my way are: 1) I am big (taller than most men, and heavy) and not pretty owing to the loss and destruction of many of my teeth, 2) I am nowhere near anyone's perfect example of a business person and lack any formal education for such things (I have a GED and some trade apprenticeship knowledge, none of which would be pertinent to this application), 3) I am quite introverted and scared of speaking with large crowds (though I do enjoy the companionship of working together), and lastly 4) I have no money (like none, at all).

So my question is basically, what do I do with all of these spiritual shoves toward this endeavor? How can I even begin to start a process like this? And how do I find peace in the meantime with this knowledge that I must do these things fast, seemingly all by myself?

Is the little horn of Daniel 8 the prince who shall come in Daniel 9 ?

In Daniel 8, the little horn person stops the daily sacrifice. In Daniel 9, the prince who shall come, causes the daily sacrifice and oblation to cease.

Is the little horn person in Daniel 8 the same person as the prince who shall come in Daniel 9 ?

I want to go to Heaven soon

I used to enjoy life until recently. Now I live in constant fear, stress, anxiety, and depression. I pray to God to take it away and to restore my ability to enjoy life.
My parents and a lot of other loved ones have died, things in my life keep going wrong, and I feel obligated by God to give up a lot of things I enjoy doing.
I'm tired of it all. Now I keep hoping I'll die and go to Heaven soon even though I'm 39 years old.
I know suicide isn't the way to go. I'm afraid of what God might do to me if I did that, and there are friends and relatives who would be devastated.
My cat is my only reason to live. She's 17 and has special medical needs. I'm afraid that if I precede her in death, she might not get the care she needs. I just hope my time comes very soon after hers.
I accept Christ as my lord and savior, and hope I'm on the book of life.

Hey y'all!

I am both new to CF and quite old, as I was once a member back when there were fancy avatars and such. This is a new account obviously, because my old brain can't remember my old login creds.
I am hoping to find some local-ish people who think like me, or want to become friends. I don't have many, since post-divorce making friends is difficult. My disabilities don't help in that regard much either.
I look forward to learning new things, forming more conclusive opinions, and maybe even changing some minds on a few topics closest to my heart and personal experiences, and maybe, just maybe, finding a few people that want to help create my minds idea of the perfect non-profit.

Target says 2024 they will provide pride month clothing, again

The hefty losses were the result of a boycott that lasted over two weeks — triggered by Target’s release of “PRIDE” in May — an LGBTQ-friendly line that includes clothing for children and “tuck-friendly” women’s swimwear with “extra crotch coverage.”

----

Despite the losses, Target will still be celebrating Pride Month in 2024, Cornell said, noting that future collections will focus on being “celebratory and joyous, with wide-ranging relevance.”

Looking for Isaiah

  • Remember that!
  • Isaiah means Yah.weh is salvation!
  • He prophesied about the Messiah!
  • The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son!
  • And she will call him Immanuel meaning God is with us! (Isaiah 7:14)
  • Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles!
  • People will see a great light!
  • A child is born, a son is given!
  • And the government will be upon his shoulders!
  • And He will be called Wonderful Counselor!
  • Mighty God!
  • Everlasting Father!
  • Prince of Peace!
  • Of the increase of His government!
  • And peace there will be no end!
  • He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom!
  • To establish and sustain it!
  • With justice and righteousness!
  • From that time and forevermore!
  • The zeal of Yah.weh of hosts will accomplish this! (Isaiah 9:1-7)
  • The Spirit of Yah.weh will rest on Him!
  • The Spirit of wisdom and understanding!
  • The Spirit of counsel and strength!
  • The Spirit of knowledge!
  • And the fear of Yah.weh!
  • And he will delight in the fear of Yah.weh!
  • He will not judge by what his eyes see!
  • And he will not decide by what his ears hear!
  • But with righteousness he will judge the poor!
  • And with equity He will decide in favor of the earth’s oppressed!
  • He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth!
  • And slay the wicked with the breath of His lips! (Isaiah 11:2-4)
  • Surely He took on our infirmities and carried our sorrows!
  • Yet we considered Him stricken by God!
  • Struck down and afflicted!
  • But He was pierced for our transgressions!
  • He was crushed for our iniquities!
  • The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him!
  • And by his stripes we are healed!
  • We all like sheep have gone astray!
  • Each one has turned to his own way!
  • And Yah.weh has laid on Him the iniquity of us all!
  • He was oppressed and afflicted!
  • Yet he did not open His mouth!
  • He was led like a lamb to the slaughter!
  • And as a sheep before her shearers is silent!
  • So He did not open His mouth!
  • He was assigned a grave with the wicked!
  • And with a rich man in His death!
  • Although he had done no violence!
  • Nor was any deceit in His mouth!
  • Therefore I will allot Him a portion with the great!
  • And he will divide the spoils with the strong!
  • Because he has poured out His life unto death!
  • And he was numbered among the transgressors!
  • Yet he bore the sin of many!
  • And made intercession for the transgressors! (Isaiah 53:4-7, 9,12)
  • And He replied, “Go and tell this people:
  • ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding;
  • Be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ (Isaiah 6:9)
  • The Spirit of the Lord Yah.weh is on Me!
  • Because Yah.weh has anointed Me!
  • To preach good news to the poor!
  • He has sent Me to bind up the brokenhearted!
  • To proclaim liberty to the captives!
  • And release from darkness to the prisoners!
  • To proclaim the year of Yah.weh’s favor!
  • And the day of our God’s vengeance!
  • To comfort all who mourn!
  • (Isaiah 61:1-2)

Christian Content Creators?

I'm specifically thinking about Youtube, but feel free to post any others from other platforms!

I'm not talking about Christian youtube videos where they talk about the Lord or the bible really, just good Christian people making various videos. As a biker myself, one great example would be "Bikes and Beards". While his content is about motorcycles 99% of the time, he'll also throw in some witnessing typically through "Wisdom of the day" a bible verse which I greatly appreciate. His content is also quite interesting if you're into motorcycles or anything with an engine.

Bikes and Beards

I just thought this would be a great thread to share Christians out there providing entertainment that we can support. So feel free to share yours!

Georgia DA Indicts 61 Antifa Activists on RICO Charges

“As this indictment shows, looking the other way when violence occurs is not an option in Georgia,” said Carr. “If you come to our state and shoot a police officer, throw Molotov cocktails at law enforcement, set fire to police vehicles, damage construction equipment, vandalize private homes and businesses, and terrorize their occupants, you can and will be held accountable.”
There are thousands around the country who committed violent acts and need to be held accountable. This is a start.

Is it possible that the Bible involves exaggeration? (and King Solomon)

I believe in a kind of God but also believe that the Bible could include exaggeration....
e.g.
About King Solomon:
1 Kings 11:3
He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.
I mean I don't understand how there could be that many women of "royal birth".

1 Kings 3:4 - I think this could be historical:
The king went to Gibeon to offer sacrifices, for that was the most important high place, and Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
But not sure about this: (144,000 sacrifices)
1 Kings 8:63 / 2 Chronicles 7:5
Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to the Lord: twenty-two thousand cattle and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep and goats. So the king and all the Israelites dedicated the temple of the Lord.
I think the following could be historical but the number is interesting:
1 Kings 10:14 / 2 Chronicles 9:13
The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents, (20 tons)

Adams slashes New York City budget yet again as cost of immigration crisis rises

“We are in the middle of a humanitarian crisis involving asylum seekers, a crisis that will cost our city $12 billion over three fiscal years,” Adams said. “While our compassion is limitless, our resources are not.”
The New York City mayor has received $1.5 billion in aid. After receiving the funds, Adams still predicted the sudden increase in population would "destroy New York City."
Just imagine how bad it has been for border towns. New York City has a small percentage of the illegals, they are a sanctuary city, and they squawk and squawk. Our country is going to suffer for a long time even if Joe gets the boot.

Huckabee's dire prediction for 2024

He says if Trump loses in 2024 it will be the last election decided by ballots instead of bullets.

Threatening revolution if Trump doesn't get his way is not a very persuasive platform.

I guess we'll just have to declare martial law, activate the National Guard, arrest all domestic terrorists, and take back our country for good.

Getting a book published

So I'm new to this writing a book "business" but I do believe I have a finished product. I guess I'm curious on what steps I should take, can take, to get this book printed. Not that I'm expecting it to be a best seller, but it would be cool to have a book of my own authorship on my book shelf and maybe one or two more to pass out to friends and family.

I'm very wary of online bits, but if you folks here make a common recommendation, I will trust the community. Thank you!

Why does that church building have an altar?

Why do ancient churches have an altar as the centre of their worship, at the front of the building, in the middle of the front, on an elevated platform as the most prominent feature in the sanctuary of the church? Well, it could be because of things like this, written by the earliest churches members who had church buildings.
But every Lord’s day gather yourselves together, and break bread, and give thanksgiving [lit. Eucharist] after having confessed your transgressions, that your sacrifice may be pure (Didache, Chap 14).
For there is one flesh of our Lord Jesus Christ, and one cup to [show forth ] the unity of His blood; one altar (Ignatius, Philadelphians, Chap 4).
‘I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord; and I will not accept your sacrifices at your hands: for, from the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, My name has been glorified among the Gentiles, and in every place incense is offered to My name, and a pure offering: for My name is great among the Gentiles, says the Lord: but you profane it.’ Malachi 1:10-12 [So] He then speaks of those Gentiles, namely us, who in every place offer sacrifices to Him, i.e., the bread of the Eucharist, and also the cup of the Eucharist, affirming both that we glorify His name, and that you profane [it] (Justin Martyr, Dialogue with Trypho, Chap 41).

And modern scholars know that the first Christians, the new testament, and the old testament all unite in speaking of the remembrance/memorial as a sacrifice.
It was natural for early Christians to think of the Eucharist as a sacrifice. The fulfillment of prophecy demanded a solemn Christian offering, and the rite itself was wrapped in the sacrificial atmosphere with which our Lord invested the Last Supper. The words of institution, ‘Do this’ (touto poieite), must have been charged with sacrificial overtones for second-century ears; Justin at any rate understood them to mean, ‘Offer this.’ . . . The bread and wine, moreover, are offered ‘for a memorial (eis anamnasin) of the passion,’ a phrase which in view of his identification of them with the Lord’s body and blood implies much more than an act of purely spiritual recollection (J. N. D. Kelly, Early Christian Doctrines, p. 196–7).
And the scriptures themselves have much to say about the altar to which we come as Christians,
For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those [sacrifices] a reminder [ἀνάμνησιν, i.e. “memorial sacrifice”] of sins year by year (Heb 10:1-3).
Also in the days of gladness and in your feasts, and at the beginning of your months, you shall blow the trumpets over your whole burnt offerings and the sacrifices of your peace offerings, and they shall be a remembrance [ἀνάμνησις, i.e. memorial sacrifice] for you before your God (Num 10:10).
You shall put pure frankincense with salt on each row, that it may be to the bread for a memorial [ἀνάμνησιν, i.e. memorial sacrifice], even an offering made by fire to the Lord (Lev 24:7).
Saint Chrysostom preached of the sacrifice on the alter in his sermons.
He is our High Priest, who offered the sacrifice [on Calvary] that cleanses us. That [sacrifice on Calvary] we offer now also, which was then offered, which cannot be exhausted. This is done in remembrance of what was then done. For (says He) do this in remembrance of Me. It is not another sacrifice, as the High Priest, but we offer always the same, or rather we perform a remembrance [lit. ἀνάμνησιν, i.e. “memorial sacrifice”] of a Sacrifice.
But since I have mentioned this [memorial] sacrifice, I wish to say a little in reference to you who have been initiated; little in quantity, but possessing great force and profit, for it is not our own, but the words of Divine Spirit . What then is it? Many partake of this [memorial] sacrifice once in the whole year, others twice; others many times (Homily 17 on Hebrews, Paragraphs 6 and 7).

Nike store in Portland shuts doors as crime and safety concerns tear through city

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said the city had attempted to work with Nike to ease its "safety challenges" but said the city would not provide off-duty officers from the Portland Police Bureau because of a staffing shortage in the police force.
The Nike community store on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in the city is the latest business to leave as crime and homelessness wash over the city.
