• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I call the fake ones “Glam witches” They are usually more interested in jewelry and being seen than anything else. They like the idea of being a ‘witch’ but don’t know thing one about the religion. Why read difficult books about religion when you can watch bad movies like “The Craft”?

I see what you mean... but since when has it been so glamorous to be a witch? Always has seemed anti-glamorous to me.

Lion of Narnia:
Christianity, despites the disputes of seperated brethren, can historicaly document itself back to the first century.

Rae:
That's nice. And?

Lion of Narnia:
Wicca and other neo-pagan faiths--we are talking late 20th century creations.

Rae:
Yep. That's one of the great things about it. :)

Lion of Narnia:
One should base one's spiritual path on the fact that one truly feels it is true...

Rae:
GREAT! That is what my Pagan path is based on. Glad you agree with me. :)

::bows to SSV:: Good to see you again here!

NeoPagan religions aren’t glamorous. They are hard work. They demand one be ethically responsible for one’s actions (and inactions), they insist you think independently, and they frown on dogma.

When I told a group of 'friends' in highschool that I was a Wiccan the first thing one of them (I even remember her name...Stacy) said to me was,

"Prove it. Turn yourself into a frog."

Me: I can't

Her: Ha! I knew you were lying.

Followed by some explaining and some wanting to bang heads against walls.

The way I dress might be described as 'dark'. Not really goth. Actually, I could be in a Gap add and still look mildly goth. That's just me XP

Any ways....glam witches and fluffbunnies and fakes, oh my!

Here's a conversation I've had on more than one occasion....

"So you're a Witch Eh? Haw, Haw, Haw. Ok then... Haw, Haw, Haw... Go ahead, turn me into a toad. Haw, Haw, Haw."

"I'm sorry Sir, but it appears some other Witch has beaten me to it..."

Since I have been a practicing Catholic and now a practicing Catholic/Wiccan, there is nothing that says you are commended. Most people blow this way out of scale. If you live a good life, you go to heaven. If you don't and you kill and rape and steal everything in site, then you go to hell. There is no way you're commended to hell. No one is until the decide it's better to be 'evil' then 'good'.

Being commended sounds scary.

Thats the problem with it being a book...everyone interprets thing differently....maybe all religions are just different interpretations for people so they all are true..just different because people are different and gods knows that seeing he knows us..I mean how stupid having only one way..like having 1 size nto everyone is the same so we create other sizes and designs but they still are clothes....thats it I am going back to maths study now...wish me luck for my test tommorrow!!

I am looking into becoming a socialistic-marxist, neo-Pagan Christian-Wiccan-witch-heathen-heretic. I wonder if I'll find enlightenment that way. ;)
You'll only find a headache. And if that is the outcome: Then you'll see that the true meaning to life is a cold compress and Tylenol tablets.

My thought is that ultimately all religions teach the same basic tenants:

Do your best.

Be kind.

True these two things are open to a lot of interpretation, but if attempt to follow them chances are you’re living a pretty good life.

Does a religion really need more than this?
