You can argue with Canukian all you want, you're not going to swing his opinion with mere facts. To quote Homer Simpson: "Facts? You can use facts to prove anything!"

Climate change is happening, it's anthropogenic, and it will have catastrophic effects if it is left unchecked. This has been borne out by thousands of scientists. A large part of my degree has to do with climate change, but there are still people out there who think that the fact that this winter was colder than last summer is proof that the earth is not warming!

I'm not sure if global warming exists or not, but Al Gore seems to think it does. He's probably right though, cause it would fit in with the bible. The rapture is coming. We shouldn't worry tho because Jesus is going to take all the believers to heaven. Why can't science understand this? It don't matter if the planet dies because there will be noone left on it!
People are concerned about global warming because it can lead to problems with flooding. Al Gore seems to believe if we can slow down global warming then we can avoid the problems that global warming can cause. In terms of the rapture we are told that Jesus is coming for a Church without spot, blemish or wrinkle. They have washed and cleansed themselves in the Blood of Jesus. Some people believe that natural disaster can cause people to reach out to God to receive what He has for them. Some people do care if the "planet dies". They believe we will live and reign with Jesus here on the earth for 1000 years. The Bible says that he who destoys the earth God will destory. So God seems to care about this plant also.

But icebergs melting elsewhere would be increasing the amount of space available for these ice shelfs to drip their contents.
The actual problem is that there is more liquid water when you have a storm surge from earthquakes, wind, tide and so on. Most cities right now are not concerned with how high or low the water level is, compared to how high the water gets during a storm surge. Is it high enough to go over the walls they build to protect the city?

Sure we have global warming but has it been proven to be man caused,no it hasn't . Has it proven to be caused by the sun perhaps but still not proven.
We have been static for 10 years now as far as GW is concerned. CO2 is still going up and temperatures are staying the same. This is not how the therory goes, CO2 is supposed to cause temperatures to increase. They are not and they are staying the same and even going down. Hows that for the therory. :^)

Maybe you should read the actual science instead of denialist blogs?

Indeed there are great problems with hunger and clean water and equitable access to healthcare. And global climate change is yet another great problem.

We need to compassionately deal with all these issues to the best of our ability.

Here in the U.S., the richest nation in the history of the planet there's about 10% of our population that don't have healthcare coverage and many many more will suffer bankruptcy due to a poorly-timed illness, yet our government has battled this concept for nearly a century of improving access to healthcare.

Anthropogenic Global Climate change is of incredible importance and will only exacerbate any of the other problems. Again, in the U.S. our plant hardiness zones are moving. We are among the richest nations on earth in part because we are a net food exporter and we enjoy a large food producing area. But that can all change.

There are many issues we need to deal with both locally and globally. As Americans we should be ashamed of ourselves for being only 5% of the worlds population but using about 25% of the oil produced. We drive obscenely large vehicles and we often act "entitled" and irresponsible.

If there ever was a time when "from those to whom much is given, much will be required", it's us...now. We need to lead the world.

We already do a great amount of humanitarian work all around the world. We are a great country, but we are not saints. And global climate change is one area we can start acting better in too.

So, yes, let's get cracking on all those topics! If anyone can do it, WE can.

ok so they can say that it is a fact that they have these data points.

anthro global warming is a THEORY based on some data points.
That's sound about right. They see climate change (fact) and they conclude it's from humans (theory.)

Sorry if this is irrelevant to the current discussion (I'ma kinda wasted.), but Earth is warming up, whether some people like to admit it or not. Personally, I'm of the "Humans are playing a part in it" school of thought, because a lot of the gasses we release trap the heat from the sun, instead of letting it dissipate into the atmosphere, like it should but to what extent humanity effects it, or to what extent it can be prevented by us, I honestly can't subscribe myself to. I'm not nearly educated enough in the matter to have a reasonable opinion.

We see a fire, and we see people throwing gasoline on the fire. The incendiarists claim that they didn't start the fire.
