What does any of this have to do with the Mormon rejection of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ, and of His promise that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church?
I think we've all read just about enough of your warping of the scriptures, particularly in irrelevant contexts. I know I have. If you have nothing else to offer, then you ought to stay just as quiet as the historical record of the fabled Lamanites and Jaredites and these other fantasy people you believe in instead of God.
It is true, the gates of Hell have not prevailed against His church, but there was a falling away:
And there was a time when the church thought they were the only ones that should have God's word:
(Old Testament | Amos 8:11)
11 ¶ Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
But the Lord in His wisdom restored His true gospel which was lost during the middle ages. God's word is in the King James English so those who have ears can hear:
(New Testament | Mark 4:9 - 12)
9 And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
10 And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.
11 And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
12 That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
(Old Testament | Isaiah 29:11 - 16)
11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed:
12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.
13 ¶ Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?
16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?
