I don't dislike Rap music (or the hip-hop culture) per se, but most mainstream rappers (Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg...etc.) have some of the most vile lyrical content that I honestly don't see how professing Christians can even stomach it. It's not necessarily the sound of the music, but the content. There are some Christian rappers whom I do enjoy...KJ-52, The Cross Movement, Raiders of the Lost, Tunnel Rats, LA Symphony, Grits...etc. However, Rap isn't really my forte. I personally listen to Christian Blackmetal, and believe me, I do sympathize. Most Christians hear my music and swear up and down, DESPITE the lyrics, that it is the spawn of Satan himself. But then again I think that Country music is the spawn of Satan.
If you really enjoy Rap as much as you claim, then check out some of the Christian rappers. I would imagine that some of their lyrical content would make for some very interesting conversation and debate topics at your university.
