Some rap music really owns! But NOT this:
1. Racism - ie. Kayne West
2. Bad language - Not allowed in our house.
3. Gangsta rap
4. Drugs - You don't need drugs to be cool.
5. Pop - I hate most pop music except pop punk.

Imo, these bands rap and they own:
1. Hollywood Undead
2. Linkin Park

Get the idea? Rap with meaningful lyrics that support my lifestyle or Rap that's just fun to listen to.
Okay, I admit I like Midnight Beast... when I can listen to them... :p

lol wat

Linkin Park isn't rap...

I hate the rap on the radio because it's all just clicks and whistles. Anybody can start talking in autotune to a prefabbed beat, it doesn't require any talent.

If a song that uses Autotune is ever nominated for any awards and wins, then they should have a hologram of a computer generated person show up to accept said award and call it Autotune.

Because the rap you hear on the radio is all of rap.....oh wait, no it isn't.

This is gonna blow your mind..there's rap out there that isn't on the radio that doesn't use autotune!

You rap haters aren't even trying anymore....

Icp is good rap. Good beat, funny lyrics doesn't take itself seriously. I'll stick with horrorcore. Oh and I really like the 90s stuff, ice cube, snoop. That's rap. I know my rap but I don't stick to one genre. Im into all kinds of music. I'm not a rap hater.

Why is it that so many people hate rap.

Good grief. Please tell us you're joking. How many reasons do you need?

- racist
- sexist
- violent
- negative
- glorifies crime, drug use, infidelity, irresponsibility.....(need I go on)

And pretending that isn't enough, there is zero quality there. They don't sing; they talk. They don't play instruments; they spit out electronic noise and it's little more than a beat......over and over and over........it requires zero talent. If you're black (not mandatory but sure don't hurt), wear a baseball cap backwards, baggy clothes, hate white people, and have no musical talent - congrats! You have the makings of rap stardom.

Having a hot poker shoved in my eye sockets sounds pleasing compared to this horrific noise that some people laughably call "music."

Oh this is an easy one...

Good grief. Please tell us you're joking. How many reasons do you need?

- racist (Uh..and? Just because some rap songs could be racist doesn't mean they all are. What music do you listen to? I'm pretty sure you could find racist lyrics somewhere in your favorite genre too.)
- sexist See above.
- violent Uhh..have you heard any Christian rap? Or Any political/underground rap? I'm pretty sure your favorite genre could have violent lyrics..unless you listen to classical or something.
- negative Listen to I Can by Nas..totally a positive rap song!
- glorifies crime, drug use, infidelity, irresponsibility.....(need I go on) See my first point....

And pretending that isn't enough, there is zero quality there. They don't sing; they talk. They don't play instruments; they spit out electronic noise and it's little more than a beat......over and over and over........it requires zero talent. LAWL! You have no idea what youre talking about. It's not as easy as you think it is. You have to stay on beat and make sure it sounds good..I dunno what you mean by Electronic noise...and I've never heard a rapper that hates white people...and there are rappers that use instrument..like The Roots.

Having a hot poker shoved in my eye sockets sounds pleasing compared to this horrific noise that some people laughably call "music."

Why is it that so many people hate rap. Whenever I talk about rap someone always says something stupid like, "rap only objectifies women!" or something like that. How many people on this website here dont like rap. Also out of all of you that dont like rap how much do you listen or know about rap.

For a reason probably most people don't think of..... usually little or no real instrumentation (keyboard and computer and remix crap) and vocals that singing is sub-par or simply shouting or shucking and jiving. As far as "objectifying women", dirty language etc., definitely not limited to rap.

I've already seen these "classy" people on here trying to defend this "music", but it honestly doesn't mean anything to me. If you only rhyme a few words with little to no instruments, then you don't have music. There are very few artists that have something to do with rap that I would consider real musicians. P.O.D. is one example that has what some people would call rapping in their music, but they back it up with great instrumentals and most of their song lyrics have a message to be learned in them.

My youth leader only listens to Christian rap music, and I only listen to Christian metalcore/heavy metal/death metal. We both respect each others choice of music, however, because everyone has different opinions. It is my opinion that rap isn't real music (although at least Christian rap is glorifying God, so that really is all that matters in music honestly), and she doesn't think "that screaming stuff" is real music (she feels the same way about them giving the glory to God though). Everyone can have their own opinion. If you and others on this forum like rap, then listen to rap and don't listen to me. I don't listen to people when they try to say my favorite genre isn't real music, because it's what I enjoy listening to and it allows me to worship God.

If you want to hear some real music though, then look up Demon Hunter. ;)

I have a seventeen year old daughter, so it's not like I'm never exposed to rap. As hard as I try, I still can't find much value to it. It simply isn't there for me. I did like some early rap, Grandmaster Flash, "The Message", "Rapper's Delight", etc. At the time, it was fresh, even innovative. I also listen to some Christian stuff - John Reuben, KJ-52, the "Hip Hope" series, when I exercise. And I think Eminem's "Lose Yourself" is a great, great song. But for the most part, I have to say "no thanks". There's nothing there that would ever make me want to listen to it a first time, never mind a second hearing.
