Just face it people, rap is terrible. It's so popular because the majority of America is a bunch of brain dead morons listening to it just to be popular. Many don't know the message, and if they did, I doubt they'd continue to listen.

I don't like any of the messages rap presents. And don't say, "Oh, well you listen to the wrong ones." Shut up. That's just a defense so you can try and continue to hold your case. Also don't say "Oh you're just ignorant." That is an ignorant and obnoxious statement in itself.

Face it. Some like rap. Most don't. Do not be insecure and try to get reasoning on why others don't like what you like. If you like it, good for you, enjoy it, it's your freedom. But it's also mine not to enjoy it.

I like rap. It's my favorite type of music...and I agree that most rap haters hate it because they listen to one song and if they hear a bad word in it they assume the whole genre is bad...some people just go way too overboard, in my opinion.

So, in general, there's just one or two "bad words" (expletives is a favorite phrase of mine) in rap songs?

I'm going to be the bigger person here and just leave this arguement altogether. This was a thread to see why do people hate rap, not to debate it being good or not, and I'll admit, I helped it turn into that, but I'm not going to add it anymore as to prevent a brutal verbal beating I'd dish out.

As a matter of fact, to stereotype any genre of muzik is just plain retarted. It just goes to show how ignorant most people are when it comes to opening their mind to something new. Just because you dont like a few songs you hear or agree with the messages in them does not make all of rap the same. Seriously do you know who black star is. Who are the MC's in it. Do you listen to Common. How much of Pac do you know. Seriously people stop recycling garbage opinions and come up with your own after you fully listen to the muzik. I bet few actually have. Thatz why so many people seem to keep their children away from rap. Then they grow up and say stupid stuff like this. I cant believe so many people will make up their opinion on rap when they know so little. Why is it that so many people hate rap. Whenever I talk about rap someone always says something stupid like, "rap only objectifies women!" or something like that. How many people on this website here dont like rap. Also out of all of you that dont like rap how much do you listen or know about rap.

Well, mainly what I look for in music, is talent. I want to hear talented mucisians play, and or sing. I fail to see talent in most rap, it's all electronic beats, and a really fast talker. No sence of pitch or tone what so ever.
Another thing I like to hear in music, is good lyrics. The lyrics are not the priority for me, but they do matter. Most rappers do sing about so pretty nasty stuff, and I think that you're lyrics should be about what your music means to you. Rappers don't usually seem to have respect for their music, or anyone elses. I do like some christian rap, it's got soul!...but I try to stay away from the combination of stupid lyrics, and non-talented musicians, in any genre. That's my opinion.

The irony is none of you even know how to put together a song. Hip-hop music is creativly THE HARDEST music to achive quality in. Those things you hear on the radio like g-unit is considerd very low quality rap by most fans.

And LOL @ no drums.....ummm the very basis of a rap instrumental is the beats of the drum, and keyboards. I've herd every instument you can imagine in rap. And those artists you named are considerd by us all in rap. You havent even been exposed to actual hip-hop so dont talk about it.

I am not here to debate but I believe that the drums I am talking about is alot different in other music then the stupid "thump" of rap. what is the point of your car having to vibrate listening to this stuff. I will admit that i don't know much about hip hop but the stuff I have heard from Hip Hop kind of cared on to all hip hop artists. I know that some, not many, artist are talent in these catogorizes. I think that coming up with these rap songs is very simple. I came up with one a couple years ago just to see how easy it is. About the instruments though it seems like most of the time these instruments are prerecorded. it takes away the point of the instruments when it is prerecorded. I am starting to get into a debate now so i am done.

rap is getting worse and worse with each passing year. when krs-one was on top of the game he rapped about how knowledge is power and things of the sort. but now in these modern times all it's ever about is degrading women, getting drunk, and smoking drugs. what good can possibly be gained from it? i respect kanye west for his jesus walks track but it's a little hypocritical how he is doing the same as other rappers in there non-wwjd ways.

You're not listening to political rap eh? that's the real stuff.
Jesus walks is a great song, even though it cusses...it speaks of wanted change in his life, it would be great if he actually meant it, and worked to improve himself more as a christian.
