Why do you hate Rap???

I like rap. It's my favorite type of music...and I agree that most rap haters hate it because they listen to one song and if they hear a bad word in it they assume the whole genre is bad...some people just go way too overboard, in my opinion.

I don't like what rap artist talk about I tried over and over again to give rap a chance but it still has a lot to prove to me. Their is no "good sound" in rap. No Drums, Guitars Keyboards,etc. When i listen to music I like listening to many things at once rather then just one. The only rap or hip hop artist that is any good to me is KJ-52. I like all music but rap. I once gave eminem, 50 cent (also known as "Half Cent"), Ja Rule, and many more a chance to prove something to me but their message is really lame. It may be that i don't like it cause i can't relate to it or something.

Alot of modern rap music is just the tired old crud about money and chicks, and the rhythms are usually like something anyone could come up with with a drum stick and a garbage can. That said, there are some good songs out there, like Gangster's Paradise by Coolio and Still a _____ In My Book by Li'l Troy (which is surprisingly open and vulnerable in the lyrics).

its mostly ignorant ppl that hate rap music. its ppl like Bill OReiily that cant stand that hip hop is the most powerful and popular culture n genre in the world today. haters just focus on the mainsteam pop rap garbage like nelly, pdiddy, ludacris,50 cents, and eminen. real hip hop lovers know there are better alternatives. heck my church even has mc's for our worship service( i dj at church for those guys).

Davey D your one of the few people who know what they are talking about. To all of those who have tried to give rap a chance but cant seem to like what you hear its probablyi because you are listening to the wrong type of rap. Even real hiphop heads know that the rap game is mostly garbage. Most of the good artists but not all are underground. Its this commercial stuff that sux. Seriously anyone who really knows hiphop could tell you this. For everyone out there whose reading this PLEASE TURN OFF THE RADIO. Dont look for the radio to give you a clear view of what the rap game is like. Listen to the "Black Star" album or something good before you just type that rap is dumb.

The irony is none of you even know how to put together a song. Hip-hop music is creativly THE HARDEST music to achive quality in. Those things you hear on the radio like g-unit is considerd very low quality rap by most fans.

And LOL @ no drums.....ummm the very basis of a rap instrumental is the beats of the drum, and keyboards. I've herd every instument you can imagine in rap. And those artists you named are considerd by us all in rap. You havent even been exposed to actual hip-hop so dont talk about it.

I'm not all about messages, that's a side note in my musical flavor. It's more about the sound. I hate the droll sound of hip hop and of rap. I perfer the heavyness and sharpness of rock and opera.

But lyrically, I have nothing against hip hop. Hip hop is rap's goody goody brother. Rap is the one I hate lyrically and rhymically and just musically all around.

Let me explain something to you lol Hip-hop is the culture which includes 4 elements. DJ's, Graffiti, Breakdancing and Rap. Rap isnt a seperate music from hip-hop. Rap IS the music of hip-hop. Hip-hop is not the music its the whole culture. So by saying you love hip-hop but hate rap you;re showing you know nothing of it.

I'm not a rap fan, yet I completely agree with you.

I used to hang out with a lot of the b-ball players in uni., most of them being huge rap fans (and mostly black of course). We'd go out partying and be freestylin' on the subway, bus, taxi or whatever. Unless you can think super fast and can keep a beat in your head, there's no way that you can keep up.

I don't like listening to rap or hip-hop much at all, but it's damn fun to participate in. It's not all about pimpin' and bling. It's creative, intelligent, fun and just as diverse as any other genre of music.

Don't worry, it's not just rap music that has these problems. Look at mainstream popular rock music- Maroon 5, Velvet Revolver, etc. etc. Rap, like any other genre, seems to appeal to me in its more independent, underground artists. A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Madvillain. . . these are perfectly good artists, IMO.
