Why are most Christians so accepting of magic

I Especially liked-"Whatever the reason, pretty much everything of and in the world that is loved and accepted has some kind of anti-christ or anti-christian influence behind it."

I had been a Catholic Christian my whole life until my dad died. Then I read the bible from beginning to end. And absorbed it. And loved it. Now, there is a constant battle in my head, because to really get away from evil, you have to leave the world. We are swimming in evil. Magic, Santa Clause, Easter egg hunts, "Anything goes" denominations, Astrology, Celebrity worship, Sports worship etc. I almost destroyed myself trying to live pure. I avoid evil when I can. I try to help others when I can. And I "draw the line" when it comes to anything occult. But your statement above about the world being antichrist, is spot on. I was raised on rock and roll. I was also born and raised in Memphis Tennessee. My Uncles went to school with Elvis. And I witnessed how he changed the entire world, myself included. Music is spiritually powerful. Much more than folks realize. After I read the Bible, I read the lyrics to all my favorite groups. And I discovered that rock and roll is very anti-christian. Some groups were very anti-christian. I have had to learn to moderate my thirst for holiness, because its not here. I have changed my choice of music groups to those who do not glorify evil. And pray for God to have his day and defend his name soon, or give me the strength to make it to my death. "Magic" is engrained in alot of lyrics in r n r. And Disney. We just have to find a way to be moderate, and prudent, as to what is just living in an evil world and getting by, Or consumed by it and part of it. Our home is not here. Sorry for rambling. Peace

Wonderful to hear a bit of your story! The battle has already been won by Christ. So evil's time is short and on a leash.
It's not so much 'getting away from evil' but to be aware of it and with the lord, ask him how to respond to it. Whether it is not listening to it or maybe you will learn more about your enemy by it.
The main point is to not be ensnared by the ways of the world. You can still interact with it if you are able to avoid being ensnared.

Yes, it is important to know what's going on in the world. That there is an intelligence behind it that is anti-christian. However, we still are called to interact in the world and help people where they are at towards Christ.

When you have had your eyes opened as to what's going on, you are able to navigate your way through the world helping people (who want help) out of the darkness. But yeah, if you want to be a Christ follower, you will be rejected by the world. So that is possibly one of the reasons why there are so many luke-warm Christians... Sort of have one foot in the world, one foot in Christianity.

Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

The actual quote is "if it's on the internet, then it must be true." There are a few ways of saying it.
Oh, I've heard it... However, I only hear it when someone has been given proof that they don't want to accept.

Of course there is false information on the internet.. However, a response, IMO, should have more meat to it than "It's on the internet so it must be true", as proof that the point made is not valid.

Well, then those people used it inappropriately.

You have actually proved nothing to me at all, other than many Christians don't have a lick of common sense nor do they think for themselves.

I'm out because I feel like I am speaking to a brick wall.

I understand... It's impossible to prove a negative. Therefore, you cannot prove that Disney is not involved in this satanism....

But, I could post numerous internet sites that back up what I believe. It's not right because of the numbers.. but it's not wrong because you won't accept it.

Uh oh, it's on the internet so it must be real!

I guess we're expected to take the word of some Christian about Disney having hidden agendas with Satanism, Witchcraft and Occultism like it's the gospel truth. But I can't think of a good reason to do so because I don't know who that Christian is nor do I care about what they think about Disney.

We'll see who is a fool. Being blind to the desception of Satan are the ones who are fools.
.

You posted a video on youtube that contained snippets of magicians on tv shows -- as proof that they are real demonic wizards. A video that is so badly edited and yet you (an adult) viewed it as credible. So not only are you so easily fooled but you don't bother researching.

The problem here is that you are a Christian and as a christian it your duty to represent the word of God as truth. However your representation isn't just factually wrong but you "prop" it up as views that only those "who are saved/know God like you" can see. Because of this, people end up thinking that the bible has negative influences such as delusion and just being prideful over ignorance.

The Holy Spirit is supposed to enlighten those who follow Jesus. Again, you thought Shin Lim was using demonic powers -- not only is this just as silly saying WWE's Undertaker is a real dead guy, but if we were living in the Dark Ages, this performer would have been killed from your accusations. So think about all this, and then go back to what I quoted from you.

Some of those disagreeing with me are married...do you have children?? My main point was that it is the parents responsibility to build a strong spiritual foundation and keep occult items out of the hands of our children. Are you actually disagreeing with me on that point? As a parent do you really think it's okay to give your children spiritually questionable material? On that point, I need to leave for several hours. I'm honestly not bailing out! Thanks for the debate...I loved it!

I would have thought parents who have children becomes easily more open for entertainment for their children than those who are married without children, or I have noticed this more myself when looking at families.

But all in all; I believe it has more to do with how close you grow to God and in His Word, what relationship you have with Jesus Christ. The stronger it gets, the more important this will become to you with what you see, read and listen to. As the Holy Spirit will be convicting you more and more.

If you don't like that vid.... just go online and pick any of the many demonic magician video's of the others that I have mentioned.... Sorry that the editing was not up to your standards.

I don't even know what you are trying to state here. I'm simply stating that there are magicians out there that obviously use demonic entities to perform their work.

Well, there you go, into the absurd....
Yes, the Holy Spirit enlightens us.. however, those who are lost will be drawn away by attractive use of power and wonder of Satan's minions.

This has grown old. If you cannot see it... It's not my job to convince you. It's obvious, if you watch and then, on top of it, they admit it... But, go ahead and remain ignorant of what's right there in front of you.

I've seen them. It's fake. Lets even pretend that the editing of these videos are good, it's still horrible because all you need to do is research and their magic tricks are explained. You are talking nonsense.

And this is wrong and absurd. It shows how bad your lack of knowledge is, and to say/think that you are only seen as wrong because "they are blind" gives God a negative image of being fiction and unintelligent.

You were already talked to about this (Kayfabe) so start reading and educating yourself, instead of giving a bad representation of the bible as being a book for fools. This is sad to read such ignorance and the massive anti-intelligence that some churches have infused in christians.

So, all the vids of magicians doing fantastic stuff, on the street and infront of audiences..... is fake... OK. .sure...

Well, one of us is wrong.... and blind......

Ya, wrestling is staged. A show.. but they are serious real athletes.. But, the "magicians" of today... admit to using demons and, if you were awake, you would see it.

Anyway, We're not going to change each others minds.... God bless.

Yup, and you were already given videos on this. This is old knowledge that people stopped believing after the dark ages.

Magicians are also performers. Stop already. This is the last i'm going to respond to this because you are just talking nonsense.

Because they haven't met the God of the Old Testament. (He's the same God in both testaments.) The New Testament has relatively little to say about sorcery & divination, so NT-only Christians mistake it for a non-issue.

Its because there is no such thing as Magic. What we call Magic today is just trickery, illusion and deception. Just harmless fun.

Its the same with mediums etc, all just trickery.

There is no such thing as magic or even the supernatural.

IIRC, that is consistent with the Sadducee POV.

It's also the tale end of Revolver Ocelots speech in Metal Gear Solid 2.

What I find interesting is we have no issue crediting a multitude of designers, engineers and inventors of tangible objects. Yet absolutely scoff at the idea of God being the grand designer of the universe to the point of inventing (there's that word again) our own theories on how everything came to be under its own power from a supposed quark particle.

There is nothing harmful with the story of Harry potter. The problem is that it peaks the curiosity of young children in the religion of Wicca.

Jack, do we have a contradiction here?

Is that not harm??

Even the Bible has caused adults to form a view that harms other people. Should the Bible stop being printed?

Can you give an example that shows the cause was the book rather than something else going on in their lives please.

Yes this is at the heart of this matter. Travelling closer to Jesus will change your tastes and desires. It will also change the way you view worldly pleasures.

Many folks feel that this area of life is somehow off territory to the Holy Spirit and they can like what they like.

The idea of Him wanting to redeem our tastes and preferences is not taught.

By this means He guides us away from the matters tainted by the enemy, things that in the natural seemed OK.

So the debate here is an endless exchange about matters that can only be spiritually discerned or seen by redeemed senses.

While I don’t address my observations to Christians, I’ve noticed a disparity in programming and the messages that are conveyed through advertising and other methods.

I tried Netflix and initially enjoyed the historical programs. But there was a lot to wade through and the supernatural tones many shows were taking was a turn off. Even though they weren’t my cup of tea I felt it best to cancel the subscription.

The point was driven home during The Masters Championship and Kentucky Derby. The commercials were pleasant and almost nostalgic. But the same doesn’t hold true for most broadcasts.

I guard against mainstream programs, movies, music, tv, etc. I have no interest in being force fed garbage or subliminal muck. I use the same discernment in the things I read on and offline.

The benefit of these practices is a mind at peace with few mental intrusions or thoughts I must cast down. Nourishing my spirit through these disciplines keeps the line in the sand where it belongs.

For me, the bigger issue is where it leads and the impact of its consumption that I can’t foretell. When I permitted myself greater latitude in the past the freedoms carried me further than planned.

Actually i call it common sense.

Magic is all trickery which only the gullible believe.

Spritualist mediums are fakers. Derek Acorah has been caught out faking spirit possessions on programmes such as most haunted.

I also believe demonic
possessions are down to Alien Abduction and not the supernatural. There is a strong link between the two.
