  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Good to know. Turns out Joe is a plain name that has a special meaning! I really like names that have a Christian meaning. :)

But I prefer the longer Joseph.

Yep, Joe is a plain name with a special meaning. I prefer "Joe" the shorter version of Joseph, as so much meaning can be conveyed in that monosyllabic name. Jesus Christ's name translated to English is Joshua, son of Joseph (even though Jesus is technically son of God). God 100% added a Savior for humanity on that first Christmas over 2000 years ago. :)

It’s interesting most of the NT letters are titled after a Group. They’re not Paul’s Letter to The Bishop In Ephesus for example. It was eye-opening when I read the introduction to the letters they're to ALL believers in the city. The emphasis on a group, not 1 person in a group, not 2 people in the group, but ALL. That' includes the most insignificant & the most powerful both. God loves the group. His message is for the whole group. When I would read the Bible when I was younger & was really struggling w/ self-esteem, I thought they were just written for believers God picked, you can only have those things if you're a special kind of believer. I saw that special kind as a "have". The preacher. The particularly gifted. The particularly talented. It wasn't till much later I learned it doesn't say that.

Merry Christmas, everyone. :) If I may share a song that I always really liked hearing around this time of year when I first heard it on a random Chrismas song CD that a relative gave me as a stocking stuffer gift on a Christmas way back when I was in college. I hope I do not presume too much in saying so, but it is my understanding that @Multifavs and Sir @RileyG are from the Catholic church and so to would be attuned to this song, so I hope they see this. :angel:
