6 is a rounder number than 5 :p it has been a rough several years for me and when it was -18 here a few winters ago and several other days well below freezing that was tough trying to make sure water lines didn't freeze and leave me unable to take a hot shower to warm up..... I got to have my shower almost every day else I don't feel like a human being more like a zombie or something.

I don't know how y'all do it except you have to. I definitely give you the respect. We went about four days without power, hovering in the 30s, it was miserable. They're finally burying the lines around here, which is great.

I turn 50 tomorrow. I'm not upset about it. ^_^It's a nice round number and I am at a good place in life. It has been one of the toughest winters I've ever been through, and none of it was weather related. God is good in spite of the ups and downs, life and death. There is no way I would be in this place, with this peace, at this moment were it not for the faith I share with y'all. This I know.

ETA: If you don't share my faith, I still think you're awesome and should blow up a black balloon in honor of me tomorrow. ;)
Happy early birthday! I don't think of black balloons for 50 though. But it is eerie to think about being half a century. I will be right behind you in January.

Thank you. Are black balloons for something else? Lol. Well, that's about right for me. Showing my age, already. :)

It was nowhere near as bad as the ice storm of 2007 here that had me without power for almost 5 days. Luckily we had a gas stove and heated the house with it but the gas bill was about $100 higher I think because of lack of a powerful battery fan to move the air across the house to the bedrooms. When it was very cold awhile back I did have the hot water line to the kitchen freeze up but it didn't bust and I did all I could to prevent it using the 100 watt light bulb trick and opening the kitchen cabinet to let hot air in and even use a propane torch to try and thaw the pipe out and just had to wait 3 days for it to warm up. Not sure about the excessive gas prices that they were talking about here from it all. They did trim the trees big time after that ice storm in 2007 and have trimmed them more often since then thankfully but no ice storms like that happened since then.

You would think tree trimming would be priority one, but it's a never-ending task, and they probably don't have the crews to give it the attention it needs. Burying it is expensive, but in the long run?

In neighborhoods it is probably very expensive as here both the telephone and cable companies have their lines on the power poles and if the power companies buried the lines they would lose out on that rental income too. The city here is spread out it would take a lot of time to bury all the power lines. They hire contractors to do the tree trimming that I think work constantly on it going from one neighborhood to the next. For placers like businesses it would probably be a good thing as I think downtown the lines are buried.

They should make the balloons out of licorice so you can eat them after the celebration

That would be a bonus. I do love Black Jack gum. Someone gave it to me when I was a kid, stuck at home with chickenpox, and I've loved it ever since.

I used to get jelly beans and look for the black ones first. I remember chickenpox..... when it came around they tossed us kids together and we all had to wing it.

I think I'm blood type A and I've found that I do well with not too many veggies and meat tends to be fine for me and being financially strapped I do eat processed foods more than I should I've cut back on carbs a bunch like breads
As mentioned it's not been proven as accurate. The most important thing is that you are intuitive about what works for you.

I'm currently fighting cane borers now.... they have attacked several of my plants the pests have probably wiped out 2 of them luckily they were new baby plants that are extras.
I guess it is a long process. I don't have the answers for everything I'm still learning.

I didn't exist in the 50s to get together with
Haha:p

I'm sort of the opposite..... as I find myself needing to socialize at times as my default tendency is to be withdrawn and introverted I hav
interesting because I am an introvert. So I need the green space and quiet, many times no music or TV or any kind of sound at all to recharge. As an infj there is just too much chatter going on at my brain.

do think however that at times the Holy Spirit does sort of encourage you to be somewhere at a certain time to come across a certain person for
.

Haha, well I guess black it is. But I think you wear it well. If you really think about it, black is the attire that you wear at the most formal of a functions. For women it can be elegant and for men it can be ... I'm not sure what the same would be? Dandy or dapper? Either case, I think the Lord has definitely blessed you and I pray many more blessings follow.

I sat in a room, alone, eating Black Jack gum. Lol. I remember it because I was anxious I might make a bad grade in school missing those days. I was very concerned to do well. Thank goodness, that passed. ;)

Dandy or dapper?

"Dandy or dapper" brings this to mind. My neighbor is 85, a very well-to-do Virginia gentleman. When you look at his pictures from his college days-dandy is the word that comes to mind. It's awesome. He is a real dandy.

You have just redefined black balloons. I have a whole different picture when I think of Audrey Hepburn all dressed in black and what getting older could be :) Thanks for adding some optimism to my perspective.
