Good evening
Thanks! It was very relaxing! You tooHello. I hope you had a good day.
I wonder what @mojoboy31 has been up to.
I'm doing well. Relaxing and excited for church tomorrow.
I worked at a Sonic as my first official job when I turned 16 years old. My older sister was a roller skating carhop and she made a lot of money on tips, I was a fry cook and made a whopping $1.65/hour there working about 12 hours a week in the evenings. Sonics are all over the place around here still in almost every city and in the big city here I'm not sure how many we have maybe 6 or 7 or them I can only recall about 5 but they have closed many of them and moved them to other spots all of them still do the car hop thing but the stopped with the roller skate carhops not long after.@Miles I thought of our conversation the other day about kids these days not being active. Last night I was in my hometown after physical therapy doing errands. I was ravishing hungry and stopped at three guys.. but with the long line and someone constantly coughing and doing other gross things I decided to look on my map for some other food place. Sonic was one of the choices and I had never been there. I went to the drive-thru.. but since it was my first time they asked me to go to a stall and I could have a better chance to make a choice there. While I was trying to make a decision I thought about how much the whole shopping lot had changed and that Sonic center being there.
As a teenager in high school there was two movie theaters. One of them being there. We also had a Kmart. And in the winter there was big piles of snow and I remember being with friends and playing around in that parking lot on those hills or mounds of snow surrounding the light poles.
Sitting there I heard two teenagers sitting outside and laughing and having a good time conversing. Suddenly there was some loud flashy cars that were going down the road. Their conversation stopped and their heads spun around and you could see these cars lit up one by one following each other and going towards the Sonic. It almost seemed like those teenagers may have known those people that were in the vehicles. The last one surprised me because it was a big pickup truck and had a decal in the back that said "shoot heroin dealers". The pickup truck seemed out of place in that community since it's more City but seemed more in place of where I currently live, which is actually in the same county. The words were kind of surprising, but for that community it's not because drugs is a real problem in this county and especially east of there. Crime murder and drugs is hard to ignore. I'm sure whoever put that decal it was because of someone they personally knew. After her I got my order from the car hop, as I drove out there was a parking lot in the back that all those vehicles were parked and all the teenagers were hanging out. This is something I never had except at the beach, which was a dangerous place to be after a certain hour when knives and guns might come out. It actually seems like a safe and healthy place to hang out. The shopping mall has pretty much sat mostly empty across the way for 30 years now. That's where most of the teenagers when I was growing up hung out. So I find it interesting to have a retro place like Sonic be where this sort of revival happens in this part of the town/city.
And by the way I may have made a mistake in that I didn't tip the car hop. He hesitated as I took the bag and receipt from him and thanked him like he was expecting something. I looked it up on Google and once I got home, pretty much consuming the whole meal on the way - it was delicious, I called them and apologized. The young girl on the other end chuckled and said that it's nothing and not to worry about it. She made it seem like it's not something that is common and it's no big deal.
I just had to share that observation as I find it curious and fun to observe these kinds of revivals happening in a healthy way.
You should be dreaming about doing somethingI feel like I should be doing something but it's late so I might as well just go to sleep, lol.
I went to the Vigil Mass tonight, and am grateful! I will be relaxing tomorrow! Same to you, friend! For me it is morning. I am getting ready to leave to Church. But I agree with you as excited, we are volunteering to give clothes and shoes to kids and young adults, while the Bible Leaders teach. I think it will be so good.
Have a wonderful Night and Church tomorrow.![]()
